Fantasy Realm – Infinite Worlds Adventure

Eight-legged Burial, Earning Hagrid’s Respect

After spending a fun and relaxing evening with his friends and teammates, Alex heads to bed early, completely drained.

He quickly falls asleep and wakes up to the sun already shining through the window, feeling well-rested. The [Royal Thornback Matriarch (Mutated) Egg] lies in his arms, still cool but having absorbed a bit of his warmth overnight. Alex also senses the life force inside it growing just a little as he uses Gyo to inspect it carefully.

Better feed it its breakfast again

Alex takes out the bowl of blood from yesterday, places the egg inside, and gives it a quick lick, still feeling a bit silly for doing it.

While the egg soaks, Alex washes up, puts on fresh underwear, dons his armor, and throws on some clean robes. The modified armor is mostly hidden underneath, blending perfectly with his clothes.

Alex decides not to overfeed the egg and quickly takes it out of the bowl.

Hmm, after just two days, the blood has lost some of its mysteriousness. Thankfully, I’ve got two more [Blood Essence] to recharge the mixture.

Alex heads downstairs and finds the first floor empty, though he hears distinct chopping sounds coming from the kitchen.

“Good morning, Menchi! How’s it going? Are you really cooking for us despite your busy schedule?” Alex asks, leaning against the doorway.

“Yeah, this is something I’m doing for myself as well. Don’t worry about me,” she says with a smile, looking a little tired but clearly motivated for another day of learning under Snape.

“When we’re done eating… think you can help me with something real quick? You’re the pro at disassembling monsters, hell, your Hatsu was made for that, along with your skill. We need to sell the Acromantula corpses to Hagrid. While you’re at it, you can take some Acromantula poison as a gift for the Greaseball. I heard it’s rare and valuable… and teachers don’t earn much. He’ll probably love running some experiments with it,” Alex explains.

“Really? Great! Maybe that’ll brighten his sour mood a bit,” Menchi says, still focused on her cooking.

Tereza and Rishi eventually join them, and Menchi brings in the food. Thankfully, it’s not a traditional British breakfast, despite their limited ingredients. Menchi’s cooking is a total fusion of various cooking styles, creating dishes, packed full with various spices, sauces and condiments from the Realm. It’s impossible to classify into any specific category.

Despite its uniqueness, everyone digs in with glee, their faces lighting up with every bite. Even Rishi, who usually looks calm and neutral, raises his eyebrows slightly after each mouthful, clearly impressed.

They quickly finish the dishes and Alex and Menchi head outside, walking a short distance from their houses to avoid making a mess.

With a little help from Alex and his [Butchering Knife], Menchi skillfully dismantles the massive Acromantula corpses. Her daggers slice through the corrupted and hairy bodies like butter, and in less than half an hour, Alex has 15 portions of [Acromantula Poison] and various body parts stored in his inventory. He hands one portion of the poison to Menchi.

This was hard work… I don’t have a skill for dismantling, but I feel like I learned something. It can’t hurt to pick up skills that aren’t recognized by the system.

“Too bad… it looks like the bodies are corrupted. The poison, though, doesn’t say anything about being tainted. I’ll gladly take this portion for Sev!” Menchi says, her smile bright.

“Sev?!” Alex questions her, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, Tereza told me to call him that. She said he likes it. I didn’t believe it, but every time I call him that, he reacts a little… I don’t know what that’s about, but I just stuck with it,” Menchi responds, shrugging.

Damn, Tereza is evil, abusing his mental trauma and his loss… Casually using this master manipulation tactic. That’s scary!

Menchi quickly grabs the poison, hugs Alex, and runs toward the castle, waving goodbye as she hurries to make it to class on time.

She’s got that schoolgirl vibe now. I think she’s softened up a bit and is more willing to experiment. It feels like this is a fun trip for her, looks like she finally has the freedom to focus solely on cooking, no longer burdened with Hunter duties.

Alex walks back to the house, picking up Tereza and Rishi as they head toward Hagrid’s hut. They’re not in a hurry since Hagrid’s classes don’t start until later in the day.

“I gave away one portion of [Acromantula Poison] to Menchi so she can gift it to ‘Sev.’ Pretty mean of you, Tereza, to tell her to call him that,” Alex notes, shaking his head.

“Hey, it seems to be working,” Tereza says with a mischievous grin.

Rishi gives her a quick nod. Alex isn’t sure if he approves of her methods or is just acknowledging her efforts.

When they arrive at Hagrid’s hut, they immediately spot the extra-large cart next to it, used for player transactions. Hagrid is nowhere to be seen, so Alex decides to knock on the door.

Hagrid opens the door, looking like he’s not in the mood to talk. Alex catches a whiff of alcohol, probably Firewhisky, and notices Hagrid looks hungover.

“Morning, Hagrid. We won’t waste much of your time, but we’ve got some bad news,” Alex says, slightly worried that Hagrid might turn hostile if he brags about slaughtering the Acromantulas.

“What’s wrong, lad?” Hagrid asks, his face serious.

Alex begins to narrate their adventure, including the corruption of the Acromantulas.

“Oh no… every single one? Yer really deliverin’ me some bad news,” Hagrid says, his voice heavy with sadness.

“We brought you the bodies and 14 portions of [Acromantula Poison]. Even if their bodies are no longer useful, they deserve a burial, right?” Alex says, putting on an act. Deep down, he hates these Acromantulas with every fiber of his being.

“Yer a fine man! I respect ya!” Hagrid says, looking genuinely touched. A tear rolls down his left cheek.

“Tell ya what, I can’t offer too many Contribution Points—Dumbledore’s orders. But I’ll give you 7,000 points each and throw in the market price for the [Acromantula Poison]. Also, I’ll owe ya one,” Hagrid says, his tone grateful.

Nice!

The group receives 2,800 Galleons.

Rishi raises his hand. “I don’t need them. I’ve got the jewelry; that should sell for more than enough.”

Tereza shakes her head as well, handing Alex an additional 3,700 Galleons. In total, Alex is left with 10,000 Galleons.

“Why?” Alex asks, confused.

“You need to get your bow repaired, right? Who knows about repairing weapons and has extensive knowledge about runes? Goblins! You’ll need this amount to satisfy their greed and get the necessary materials. Tereza and I discussed this while you were dismantling the corpses,” Rishi explains, a faint smile on his face.

“Yeah, and you also helped me with the ingredients for my wand. That’s another thing I’d like to work on. I’ve got all these useful wand-crafting ingredients from the Basilisk,” Tereza adds, looking a bit apologetic as she remembers what Alex did for her.

“Thank you, guys!” Alex says, genuinely touched.

He decides to check out his new status.

After checking out his status, Alex turns to Hagrid. “Hagrid, I won’t accept this favor for free. How about this? My good friend Ben mentioned you sometimes need help buying things for the castle from Diagon Alley. What if my friends and I help you next time? If you agree, I won’t feel bad about you offering me a favor because I indeed have something I’d like to talk to you about that requires your expertise; it’s related to the egg.”

“Lad, you’re a kind one, eh? As a fellow nature lover and spider breeder, I really like ya. Sure, you lot can come by next Monday. I need to go shopping sooner than expected anyway—got to buy somethin’ for when the other schools… whoops, better not tell ya about that. Anyway, come by next Monday, and we’ll visit Diagon Alley,” Hagrid says with a warm smile.

YES! I secured our way to Diagon Alley and still got the favor! Damn, this worked out perfectly!

Alex notices Rishi’s eyes light up, clearly aware that Alex managed to snag two rewards in one: a favor and a guaranteed trip to Diagon Alley.

“So, what favor do ya want? Come in and tell me!” Hagrid says, his enthusiasm bubbling over.

Tereza and Rishi exchange a glance and wave their hands at Alex, signaling for him to go ahead. They walk away, leaving the favor entirely to Alex.

Alex nods gratefully at his friends as he steps into Hagrid’s hut alone, feeling rich with Galleons and Contribution Points, and already planning how to make his favor count.
