Chapter 1777: Chapter 1777: A Good Seedling
She glanced at the other family members…
Ever since she had entered this family, Jiang Yue had felt that becoming a member of this family was the decision she would never regret.
Yu Hongyan, while cracking sunflower seeds, said, “Elder Sister-in-law, Xue Bai is getting married next month; among our generation, you’ll probably be the first to become a grandmother.”
Li Hehua laughed and said, “These things can’t be rushed, let’s follow the children’s wishes. Wenwan is planning to take the female teacher’s exams, so I don’t think it’ll happen so soon.”
“You have a point,” Yu Hongyan nodded. “But Elder Sister-in-law, I really didn’t expect that Xue Bai would marry first, even though Xue Shi is a year older and doesn’t seem to be thinking about it at all. I don’t know how long this mother has to wait.”
Shao Youyue laughed and said, “Shoushou is even a generation older than them. Let’s not bother about them; it’s all a matter of time.”
...
“Indeed, it’s a matter of time,” Yu Hongyan chuckled. Her children had grown up, and over the years, like the rest of the family, she had learned to be open about many things and respected her children’s wishes. It was just idle chatter; she really had no intention of pressuring them to marry early.
When Xue Shi and Emperor Hao returned, they happened to hear this conversation. Xue Shi immediately moved closer to his mother with a teasing smile and asked, “Mother, what’s this about something being a matter of time?”
“Talking about you getting married!” Yu Hongyan immediately feigned annoyance. “Tell me, when are you planning on getting married?”
Xue Shi was caught between laughter and tears, “Is that something I can just decide whenever I want?”
Shao Youyue just smiled, stroking the back of her youngest son Emperor Hao’s neck.
“Brother, Uncle, why are you back?” Xue Yang, munching adorably on pastries, asked Xue Shi and Emperor Hao in a babyish voice.
Xue Shi teased her, “If you let Brother hold you, then Brother will tell you, okay?”
Xue Yang immediately leapt forward, stretching out her little arms, “Hold me.”
“Haha.” Xue Shi picked her up, lifting her twice before setting her down, then playfully scratched her little nose and said, “Came back to discuss some matters.”
Then they discussed Wu Lingxi’s current pregnancy, her arranged residence in a house in town, and their plans for it.
Naturally, they also mentioned that Xue Bai felt the same way.
Jiang Yue and Xue Yan looked at Emperor Hao. Normally, Emperor Hao was exceptionally laid-back, never actively interfering in any affairs. This time, they realized he was also involved in resolving this matter, and couldn’t help but acknowledge that Emperor Hao was indeed an excellent candidate for the Emperor.
Emperor Hao acted as if he hadn’t noticed, his lethargy seemingly unremarkable.
Seeing his brother like that, Xue Yan just smiled. Ever since he knew that his brother had no intention of accepting his abdication to become the Emperor, he didn’t insist. Everyone has their own aspirations. Besides, he was practically serving as the Emperor part-time now, and Da Ling wasn’t really affected, so whether or not to abdicate to someone else didn’t make much of a difference. He would simply continue to hold the position.
Jiang Yue was initially concerned with the choice of the next Emperor for her husband Xue Yan’s sake, but since Xue Yan now felt comfortable continuing as Emperor and wasn’t against it, she naturally had long stopped considering other suitable candidates. However, it was undeniable that, so far, among the people they knew, only Emperor Hao was the most legitimate, suitable, and capable candidate for Da Ling’s next ruler.
Although Jiang Yue and Xue Yan looked at Emperor Hao, they had no objections to how he and the younger generation were handling Wu Lingxi’s situation. Since they had entrusted the matter to the youngsters, naturally they should let them handle it, unless it was truly unmanageable, which was not the case now, so they said nothing.
What do you think?
