Chapter 1899: Extra: A Brand New Life 14 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan) Chapter 1899: Extra: A Brand New Life 14 (Jiang Yue and Xue Yan) After setting her laptop aside, slipping her cell phone into her pocket, and picking up the thermos by her bed, Jiang Yue left the dormitory.

Before she finished coding, she had sent a text to her family’s Xue Yan, so when she left the dorm building, family’s Xue Yan just happened to be walking up to the road in front of her dorm.

Because evening self-study started at 6:40, Jiang Yue and Xue Yan didn’t linger in the cafeteria after getting hot water and eating quickly; they each headed back to their respective dorms.

When Jiang Yue returned to her dormitory, only Xu Yi remained, having waited specifically for her, wanting to go to the classroom together.

With her backpack ready, Jiang Yue filled a thermos with water and headed to the classroom with Xu Yi. Their classroom was on the sixth floor of the academic building, for the third year of high school, science class 9.

Xue Yan’s dorm mates had not yet left for the classroom; they were in no hurry, only leaving their dorm about ten minutes before evening self-study began.

Having not yet had the preliminary exams, Jiang Yue and Xu Yi still sat together in the middle of the first row, right next to the podium and in the direct line for chalk dust.

Xue Yan didn’t enter through the front door but was brought through the back door by Chen Sheng and the others, who were tall and liked to sleep, sitting at the very back.

Since Xue Yan was new and didn’t have a specific seat, Chen Sheng and the others just moved an empty desk and chair to the very back of the last row, behind Chen Sheng’s seat.

“You can sit here for now,” Chen Sheng said. “The class teacher said that after tomorrow’s preliminary exams, seating will be rearranged. Also, seats will be spread out tonight after evening self-study, in preparation for tomorrow’s exam. Although it’s only a one-day exam, seating will be mixed up based on student numbers, so it doesn’t really matter where you sit.”

“Okay,” Xue Yan nodded.

Originally, the class was busy talking about Jiang Yue, whose entire face was now visible, noticing she looked different from before. Even Li Ting, the class beauty and also the school beauty, couldn’t help but take a few more glances at Jiang Yue. Many whispered about it, and some even approached Jiang Yue to talk. At this moment, Xue Yan entered the classroom through the back door with Chen Sheng and others. Some had seen him before, but many in the class had not. Besides, Xue Yan was like a manga character with his handsome face and long legs, and even in a school uniform, he looked more stylish than the other boys.

Some people had wanted to talk to Xue Yan, but the ringing bell for class forced them to give up the idea.

The class advisor, a middle-aged woman, arrived after a while. She first had Xue Yan introduce himself, then asked the class president, along with some classmates, to bring up the textbooks for the third year, and distributed them to everyone.

She emphasized that being in the third year of high school, everyone had to change their ways and not repeat past behaviors, regardless of whether or not the students were listening.

She also highlighted details about the next day’s preliminary exams. Since it was just a start-of-term assessment, it was important but not crucial, and wouldn’t extend over two days like the college entrance exams. Everything would be completed in one day: mathematics and foreign language in the morning, Chinese in the afternoon, and science comprehensive in the evening. Teachers would stay up late so that results and rankings could be announced the next day.

Starting high school’s third year like this undoubtedly added a layer of tension for everyone.

Some even felt as if the college entrance exams were imminent, rather than a year away.

Originally, the third year of high school, science class 9, had an odd number of students with one person sitting alone, but with Xue Yan’s transfer, the number became even. Xue Yan, however, was placed behind Chen Sheng by the others, not only sitting alone but also occupying an entire row by himself.
