Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 863: The Baby Was Just Born

Chapter 863: Chapter 863: The Baby Was Just Born

Under the howling north wind, Sylvan Cheney seemed unaffected by the cold.

The fragmented sunlight shone on his stern face, while beneath his eyes lay emotions that eluded the notice of others.

After a long while, he withdrew his gaze and headed towards the hospital room.

As he reached the door of Jasmine Yale’s room, a young nurse wearing a mask was just pushing a cart out.

“Mr. Cheney,” she nodded. “Miss Yale’s temperature has returned to normal, and her heartbeat and other functions have also stabilized. We estimate she will wake up soon.”

The nurse could see fatigue and the dust of travel on the man’s face, understanding that he had just come from outside.

“Mm.”

“Then, Mr. Cheney, I’ll go ahead. If you need anything, just call me.”

The nurse left, and Sylvan Cheney walked into the room.

Jasmine Yale’s face had lost its paleness, gaining a rosy hue.

Sylvan Cheney reached out and stroked her thin face and dry hair.

He sat patiently by the bed, peeling an apple for Jasmine.

For the past two days, he had peeled three apples every day so that whenever she woke up, there would be one ready for her to eat.

After everything was done, Sylvan Cheney habitually sat by her bed, silently watching her face.

Two days, like a century.

Long enough to drive him to despair.

His slightly rough thumb rested on her pale face, gently caressing, back and forth, over and over again.

The sunlight streaming in made her look peaceful, deeply asleep.

His cellphone vibrated in his coat pocket—

Sylvan Cheney stood up and walked outside.

“What is it?”

“Mr. Cheney, Mr. Smith from France has brought his team to discuss the airport cooperation project.”

“Where are they now?”

“In the hotel meeting room, waiting for you.”

“I’m on my way now.”

“Okay, I’ll wait for you.”

Sylvan Cheney then put away his phone and left the hospital, hoping that when he returned after wrapping up the project cooperation, Jasmine would be awake.

Before leaving, he filled a hot-water bottle to warm her hands and peeled some oranges for her.

Only after doing this did he go downstairs.

A minute after Sylvan Cheney closed the door, Jasmine Yale tiredly opened her eyes.

She had been awake when he was sitting by the bed, peeling an apple for her, but she was too exhausted to move, remaining in a flat, supine position.

She heard his phone conversation.

She knew when he kissed her, too.

Now, she rubbed her eyes and moved her arms.

Her hands were sore, and her whole body ached.

She tried to sit up with all her might, but she was too tired to manage it!

How long had she been asleep?

Jasmine Yale felt her head throb painfully. She pressed her hand against her forehead and let out a light cough.

Her nose was full of the scent of antiseptics, mixed with the aroma of fruit.

Jasmine Yale stared at the ceiling, motionless.

She had another nightmare!

She dreamed that her baby was gone, taken away by Sylvan Cheney. She desperately chased after him, even running out of her high heels.

But he ignored her cries, carrying away her baby and walking on!

She shouted and ran barefoot behind him, but he remained indifferent.

The baby had just been born, its eyes still unopened, crying loudly in Sylvan Cheney’s arms.

But Sylvan Cheney wouldn’t give the child to her, taking her baby and striding away!

She cried heartrendingly, and in the blink of an eye, Sylvan Cheney’s car disappeared!

Her baby was gone forever.

The nightmare had awakened her.

Now she was covered in a cold sweat, chilled to the bone.

Her hand touched the hot-water bottle inside the blanket, and Jasmine Yale held it close to her chest.

“Baby…” Jasmine mumbled, her eyes vacant and lost.
