Chapter 878: Chapter 878 Longing for Home, Warm and Harmonious Chapter 878: Chapter 878 Longing for Home, Warm and Harmonious “Dad, compliment me, and I’ll make you tea,” Xandra Mackenzie said with a playful smile.
“Alright, my daughter is the best, huh?” Professor Mackenzie chuckled.
Xandra felt appreciated and, after hearing this, she was especially happy to make a cup of Pu’er tea, which was her father’s favorite.
“Dad, Sister Jasmine, I won’t disturb you guys any longer,” Xandra said as she tidied up the tray. “I’ll be going now.”
“Go ahead!” Professor Mackenzie waved his hand.
Jasmine Yale felt that Xandra was very fortunate, as Professor Mackenzie and his wife were especially loving towards her, treating her as their own daughter.
“Take a break for a while,” Professor Mackenzie closed the textbook. “Jasmine, you’ve improved a lot. Have you been working very hard recently?”
“Not really, just had more free time and spent it frequently visiting the library.”
“The written exam is in two months, and looking at your current situation, there shouldn’t be any problems. However, don’t let your guard down and make sure to solidify what you’ve learned.”
“I will,” Jasmine nodded.
This was her only chance to leave Landon, and she would seize it, without letting go.
“Next week, my friend who teaches at the University of Cakago will be coming back to attend a birthday banquet, and I’ve been invited too. I’ll take you with me to meet him then,” Professor Mackenzie said.
“Can I come too?”
“Yes, of course you can.”
“Great, I won’t be late,” Jasmine promised.
She knew Professor Mackenzie was doing everything in his power to help her, and the rest was up to how hard she worked.
Outside the study, the sky was overcast and growing darker.
In the evening, a thunderclap, neither too light nor too heavy, rolled in from afar.
It was the first thunder of spring.
Soon after, large raindrops fell from the vast sky, pattering on the ground.
Professor Mackenzie and his wife had planted many trees in the yard, and the rain washing over the leaves left them sparkling clean in an instant.
The dry ground quickly became damp.
Rain also began to patter against the glass windows.
Jasmine sipped on the red bean milk tea personally made by Xandra, casually chatting with Professor Mackenzie.
She particularly liked this tranquil life, free from turmoil.
Occasionally, she turned her head to see the rain drizzling outside the window.
The spring scenery was truly beautiful.
This was the home she had dreamed of, warm and harmonious.
Her dad would be at home reading the newspaper, and her mom would be making snacks, while she would just be in charge of eating.
Ever since she was young, she longed for a warm home.
Suddenly, she furrowed her brow, as inappropriate thoughts sprang into her mind.
“Jasmine, Jasmine,” Professor Mackenzie called out to her twice.
“Ah.” Jasmine Yale came back to her senses and turned her head.
“What are you thinking about? You were lost in thought. You can’t be distracted like this during the exams,” Professor Mackenzie said with a laugh.
Jasmine, like a student caught daydreaming during class, smiled embarrassedly.
“Qingming Festival is coming up, and I want to go back to my hometown,” Jasmine said.
Professor Mackenzie knew a bit about Jasmine’s family, and she hadn’t hidden much from him.
“Your hometown? Isn’t that in Willow Wave City? Haven’t you been back there for many years?”
“Yes, to be precise, I haven’t been back since coming to Landon,” Jasmine said.
She truly had been unfilial.
She hadn’t visited her mother in fifteen years.
When she was younger, she was too timid and afraid to travel, and Willow Wave City was quite far from Landon.
Late
During her university years, she wanted to visit her mother, but then the baby incident happened, and the visit was postponed.
That postponement lasted three years.
What do you think?
