First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 837 Those Who Hunt

- Approximately 4,002,610 Universes Away…

Ash clouded the sky of an abandoned, desolate world.

The screeching of dying creatures pierced the sky and echoed for thousands of miles.

An ocean of dark, murky water churned angrily underneath the distant light of a dying sun.

Tentacled, hundred-mouthed horrors of unimaginable horror and ferocity roared at the only other inhabitants on this watery rock.

Standing atop the waves like mythological figures were 100 men and women clad in black.

The figures wore dark metal chest plates with the golden insignia of a ten headed dragon in between their breasts.

The armor came to a stop at around one's ribs, revealing the toned abs underneath that were honed like polished stone.

Greaves and bracers matched the luster and color of the armor; both depicting the pained roaring of damned souls.

Dark leather pteruges guarded their hips and upper thighs as well as any full plate armor. If one were to take a close enough look, one could see the faint etchings imprinted into the material with something sharp. Their records of victories accomplished.

It was alarming to say that they were almost running out of space.

Sleek helmets covered their faces- each of them bearing the simple design of two slits where their eyes should have been. All that was visible of their persona were the glowing eyes underneath that betrayed their identity as something inhuman.

Each of the warriors had black capes billowing behind their backs majestically, except for the person in the lead. Hers was a very deep and alluring red.

Though she was not the largest in stature among the group, she wielded the largest weapon; a great sword resembling jagged obsidian that pulsed with red light in intervals like a heartbeat.

They sat atop the backs of great, hoofed beasts that were similar, yet different to the roaring aquatic monsters threatening to rend their flesh with their teeth.

As black rain infected with the ash of the day beat down upon their helmets, the leader lifted her heavy sword above her head.

The creatures in the sea roared and bucked in agitation before rushing forward. The water fueled their advance; becoming a torrential tidal wave that would have easily washed away any small island.

The soldeirs in black didn't move.

Their leader slowly lowered her blade and pointed it at the incoming wave of horrors.

The soldier directly at her side acted first.

Tremendous heat was produced at her fingertips until two halves of a compressed star formed.

She made sure to keep them separate, and fired them towards the wave of doom barreling towards her unit.

When the blasts connected just a hair shy of the wave, a brutal explosion rocked the ocean.

A shockwave washed over the soldiers in black that should have compressed their internal organs on impact.

However, they made not a single move and treated it as a mere light breeze on an autumn day.

The wave was blown apart in less time than it would have taken to catch a glimpse of it, and any monstrous beasties who weren't immediately vaporized were tossed high into the air like confetti.

"Phambili!" (Advance)

At the leader's behest, the soldiers stationed behind her moved within a fraction of a second.

Their beasts carried them into the air alongside the displaced creatures. Time seemed to slow down for everything except them as they moved too fast to quantify.

Weapons flashed in the air.

And one by one, fraction of a second by fraction of as second, the sea creatures were diced and chunked until they resembled the most grotesque looking sushi decorations and fillings that one could have imagined.

It was a horrendous sight to see. Their brutal efficiency was the reason why every star system in every multiverse along their path had learned to dread their arrival.

The leader had yet to move from her position at all. Instead, she remained stagnant with her massive blade sitting upon her shoulder as if it weighed no more than a regular sword.

All the while, the twin colored eyes underneath her mask could be seen scanning, analyzing, and critiquing the movements of her unit.

They were perfect, but in battle she had learned to be a perfectionist. Her standards would allow her to accept nothing but the best.

If one had an aerial view, they would have seen a shadow form underneath the water where her mount stood.@@novelbin@@

An enormous fish-like creature lunged from the water, attempting to swallow the black soldier and everything else within an entire island's distance.

When it's body was about halfway visible, it started to descend back into the water.

It appeared to possess some level of intelligence as it quickly realized that other than water and corpses, it hadn't actually swallowed anything.

It's bulbous eyes looked at the scene above it's head.

There, the rider with the red cape was stationed in the air, meeting his gaze like two drivers on a road.

The Leader unslung her massive sword from her shoulder.

She pointed it directly between the eyes of the fish that had just tried to eat hr and hurled it like a javelin.

"Khula!" (Grow)

The great sword that was already impossibly huge ballooned even further. To an astronomical degree in fact.

The black metal weapon roared in agreement as it multiplied in size and became well over two hundred and fifty-meters.

It didn't impale the fish so much as it did crush it out of existence.

The end of the blade became buried into the sea floor hundreds of miles underwater.

But then, something strange happened.

It all started when the sun vanished completely.

The sea which had already been angry before, suddenly had a full blown meltdown.

Waves as tall as the leader's black sword were suddenly churned up. Violent hurricanes and black lightning dropped out of the sky and nearly struck several of the black soldiers.

Underneath the leader's mask, a full smile with black lipstick could be seen.

"Ngoko kulapho ubuzimele khone, eh?" (So this is where you were hiding, huh?)

The sea exploded and a titanic figure arose form the depths of the sea.

It was a horrendous, gruesome thing. Pale green skin that was almost translucent gave the creature a very sickly appearance. The lingering mud from the sea floor only made it seem even more grotesque.

It's size was ginormous... even larger than 600 meters. The ocean water only came up to about it's knees.

It had a human's chest and lower body, albeit misshapen versions with slippery limbs and claws longer than towers.

It's head was that of a dreadful octopus. It's eyes roared with hate, their red glow bright enough to light up the dark sea for miles as if they were light towers.

As it pulled the tip of the black sword from it's large chest, dark blood spilled into the water and mutated it, breeding even more of the horrendous beasties that already filled the sea.

It unfurled it's great wings and the entire world seemed to go dark. The riders could see nothing beyond it. The creature had likened itself to their end.

It turned it's head to the sky and roared.

The entire solar system felt the aftereffects in some shape or form, whether it was spontaneous earthquakes on planets or stars suddenly shifting out of alignment.

Laughter erupted from the leader as her riders circled her overhead. Even over the roar of the hurricanes, waves, and lightning, the beast heard her mocking him loud and clear.

The woman's voice was soft, sultry, and beautiful. Completely opposite of her word or personality.

Though she had a faint African accent, she spoke in a language that only other Eldritch Horrors could understand without going mad, and her words were just as scathing as they would have been in English or Dovah.

"You make a poor host, Cthulhu! Why must you force us to go through all this trouble to see your lovely face, eh?"

She held out her hand and recalled her sword to her hand from the ocean depths and draped it over her shoulder once again.

"Be honest now... You avoiding me? That hurts my feelings, big boy. And who knows what I'll do with my feelings hurt..."

Cthulhu roared once more; making further attempts to get the riders in black to go deaf. Unlike the leader's voice, it's tone was booming and dark. It's words even more so.

"Those playground insults won't get you anywhere, sweet-face. What'll it be?"

Kanami pulled out a green amulet roughly the size of a fist. It's green color was slightly darkened by shadows that swirled around inside of it.

"You coming home in here, or in our stomachs?"

Cthulhu roared again. This time, the very water turned against the riders, becoming like black, jagged spires that could pierce through the hide of most dragons like fabric.

But the leader and the riders were not most dragons.

The leader swung her sword leisurely and snapped the incoming spires like they were simple shards of ice.

Ever so delicately, she put away the amulet and pulled off her helmet.

"Alright then... Thank you for the meal."

The leader pulled off her helmet, and turned her lips towards the dreadful sky.

"Euphrates! Qwenga! For the glory of the Nevi'im!!"

The Euphrates roared back. Even louder than Cthulhu had.

"FOR THE GLORY OF THE NEVI'IM!!"
