First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1900: The Unsightly Bungling of a Little Clown

Chapter 1900: The Unsightly Bungling of a Little Clown

Practically simultaneously, everyone present felt their heart palpitate with fright, and they instinctively gazed into the dome of heaven. There, they saw a startling, terrifying scene.

From beyond the spacetime rifts, a towering, grand, seemingly divine figure was heading their way!

The entire dome of heaven shook violently. Spacetime power erupted, and the Laws of the Natural Order were thrown into upheaval. A true cataclysm were playing out before them!

There was no need to even question it. If anyone dared approach now, spacetime power would instantly rip them to shreds, and the Laws of the Immortal Dao would descend upon them!

Yet that grand figure was incomparably terrifying. He approached, rapidly breaking through the layers upon layers of spacetime barriers in his path.

“This…” Everyone was dazed. What kind of existence is this?

“A god!” Atop Cloudsoar Peak, Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, and the other sect leaders couldn’t help but gasp.

Over the years, they’d all ushered divine children into the Immortal Realm, so this scene was naturally as familiar as could be. But it was different this time. The one crossing the spacetime barriers in an attempt to enter this world was not a divine child, but an actual god. Laws of the Divine Dao wrapped around him, breaking through the impediments of time and space.

Before he’d even descended into the Immortal Realm, he provoked a fierce backlash from its natural order.

“A god?” Su Yi stood within the massive, altar-shaped prison, his eyes flashing.

It hadn’t been long since he proved his Dao and entered the Great Realm. He saw gods then, too. Now, he realized at a glance that this imposing figure was a deity!

It was then that Su Yi finally understood. The divine children’s ultimate trump card for the Immortal Peach Assembly was actually a god!

The heart of this death trap lay in the Skyless Darkness Divine Formation. It could obscure the threat of divine misfortune, but it had two other wondrous applications, too.

First, it could trap him.

Second, it could usher in a god!

The eighty-one Great Unity experts and eighteen Great Profound divine emissaries were sacrificial offerings toward that end. It was only by sacrificing their lives and fresh blood that Fu Tianyi could fully activate the formation and realize its two other wondrous applications.

As for Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, and the other leaders of the various immortal factions involved? It might have seemed that they were the ones hosting this grand assembly, but in truth, they were merely there for decoration. It was Divine Son Fu Tianyi who truly controlled the situation. No... it was the god about to descend into the Immortal Realm!

After all, how could a god descend without ample preparation?

Without the god’s orders and cooperation, everything Fu Tianyi had done would have been meaningless!

“No wonder he dares force his way into the Immortal Realm. He sent an avatar of will, just like Old Bald Donkey Dipankara!” A line of text appeared in the Book of Karma. “Gods are subject to the confines of the Laws and the natural order. They cannot descend into the Immortal Realm in the flesh; this is an ironclad rule. Unless a cataclysm befalls this epoch civilization—that is, another Grand Epoch Tribulation—none can break this ironclad rule.”

Su Yi understood. “How did you escape the Dipankara Buddha’s poisonous hands last time?”

The Book of Karma was instantly smug. “I represent the most fundamental source of the Dao of Karma. How could the Dipankara Buddha’s mere avatar of will possibly contend with me?

“But you’re different. I’m afraid… this time, you’re finished. Unless Third Brother Sword really submits to you. Otherwise, there’s no way you’ll be a match for that god’s avatar of will.” ŗA𝐍Ȫ𝐛Êṡ

“Oh,” said Su Yi.

He said no more on the matter, but he wasn't concerned. Others had trump cards, but did he not have some of his own?

……

“Your ancestor is quite courageous, and of course, you’re quite ruthless,” the woman in black sighed.

She recognized the descending divine avatar of will. He was an ancestor of the God Domain’s ancient Fu Family. His name was Fu Hengsha, and they called him Divine Venerate Eternal Sands!

“You’d best be respectful.” Fu Tianyi glanced at her. “If you provoke the ancestor’s ire, he’ll kill you, and the demon god behind you will have no choice but to hold his nose and endure.”

The woman in black obviously thought nothing of this threat, but she didn’t argue. She knew that the gods did not tolerate blasphemy; that was common knowledge amongst the cultivators of the God Domain.

Boom!

Heaven and earth trembled as if on the verge of collapse. The skies were thrown into chaos on all sides, an apocalyptic scene of destruction. That grand figure had reached the nearest spacetime rift. He was about to descend into the Immortal Realm!

The onlookers felt a prickling pain in their eyes, and their minds went blank. Their senses were severed, and they saw no more, and that was true even for the experts on the slopes of Cloudsoar Peak. Powerful as they were, even their divine senses were suppressed. They could neither see nor sense a thing.

They were rendered temporarily blind and deaf!

A sentence rose unbidden to their minds: “The gods are not to be gazed upon!”

But none of this applied to Su Yi. He could see that grand figure clearly. The god was a man in long purple robes with long, loose hair and a willowy beard. When his eyes opened and closed, they were like the sun overhead, gazing down at the world below with immeasurable, terrifying power.

Wisps of the Laws of the Divine Dao condensed into golden flowers around the purple-robed man. Every minute gesture was full of enough power to bear down on the dome of heaven until it threatened to collapse. The Laws in the surroundings were instantly as violent and explosive as could be.

This was Fu Hengsha, the god-level ancestor of the God Domain’s ancient Fu Family!

Fu Tianyi's expression was solemn. His hands formed seals, and he bellowed, “Activate!”

The cage entrapping Su Yi suddenly shook, then shot into the dome of heaven, bringing Su Yi with it.

“This is bad! That guy isn’t trying to descend into the Immortal Realm. He’s trying to bring you out of it!” The Book of Karma was obviously startled and frantic. “Don’t just stand there! Hurry up and do something! Don’t tell me you’re out of tricks!?”

The Book of Karma was obviously even more nervous than Su Yi.

Su Yi sighed. “Would you cut that off, please? Don’t you think freaking out like that is disappointing?”

And here he’d wanted to see how powerful a god’s avatar of will was upon descending into the Immortal Realm. That way, he could gauge the gap between them. After all, Li Fuyou had apparently slain true gods while still at the peak of the Great Profound Stage.

This was now one of Su Yi’s goals. He refused to lose to Li Fuyou in his cultivation of the Great Realm, and it was for this reason that he wanted to see just how he compared to a god’s avatar of will. But now, this hope had been extinguished. This divine avatar of will had no intention of descending into the Immortal Realm. Instead, Divine Venerate Eternal Sands wanted to carry him away, cage and all, and he couldn't let that happen.

“Remember your promise. When we capture Su Yi, you’ll owe me a favor, and the Book of Karma must be mine,”

When the woman in black saw the cage carry Su Yi into the dome of heaven, she visibly relaxed.

“Rest assured,” Fu Tianyi said plainly, “This is an agreement between seniors of our clan. Nothing will go wrong.”

He gazed at the cage, his gaze heated. “The bold prosper and the weak perish. The other divine children were too afraid to get involved personally, while I gambled everything… and it was the winning bet!”

Indeed, this was a gamble, and a huge one too. Everything was for the moment that he delivered Su Yi, now trapped prey, to his ancestor personally. Fu Tianyi’s goal would soon be realized, and his heart filled with excitement. He was far too keenly aware of what Su Yi, the Heretic Reincarnator, represented to the gods.

But that, the boundless, ethereal hum of a sword appeared out of nowhere, ringing in Fu Tianyi and the dual-pupiled woman’s ears and leaving them seeing stars. The two of them suddenly raised their heads, only to see Su Yi thrust his sword.

Boom!

The cage manifested from the Skyless Darkness Divine Formation burst into pieces as if it were made out of paper. A sword rose into the heavens, and an indistinct figure in dark robes floated above it. He was as upright as a solitary pine, with the ethereal bearing of a flowing cloud.

This was none other than Li Fuyou!

“You’re…” Within the spacetime rift, the avatar of Divine Venerate Eternal Sands was startled.

Whoosh!

Li Fuyou’s gaze was calm as he swung his sleeve through the air.

The Sword of the Nine Hells shot forth, boring a hole through the avatar and shattering it into a rain of light before Divine Venerate Eternal Sands could even finish his sentence.

Li Fuyou shook his head and, uncharacteristically, chose to comment, “Nothing but a little clown.”

“...” Su Yi didn’t know what to say to that.

Li Fuyou turned to glance at Su Yi. “Little power remains in my Dao Imprint. You can use it at most three times more. And you can only use it against the gods. Those beneath that level are unworthy of dying beneath my sword.”

He was as unapproachable as ever.

Then, he transformed into a rain of light and vanished into the Sword of the Nine Hells, which returned to Su Yi’s sea of consciousness.

He’s even prouder than I am… Su Yi thought to himself.

A moment later, he couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head. Ultimately, Li Fuyou is still me, isn’t he? The only difference is that we’ve lived different lives.

Meanwhile, Fu Tianyi and the woman in black were dumbstruck. They stood there, rooted in place, their eyes as wide as dinner plates. Success had been within arm’s reach, only to disappear in a puff of smoke!

The most terrifying part was that Divine Venerate Eternal Sands’ avatar of will had been shredded apart paper window paneling. The sight practically made the two of them break down.

How was this possible? What on earth had just happened?

Su Yi had been trapped all this time. How could he possibly have had such an unbelievable killer weapon at his disposal this entire time?

Countless questions flooded their minds. All of their eagerness, delight, and excitement grew wings and flew away. They were completely overcome with shock.

Meanwhile, Su Yi descended from the heavens and said, “Alright, time to end this.”

He looked at Fu Tianyi, and the hovering Sword of Proximity slashed the air.

Fu Tianyi abruptly came to his senses, poured all of his strength into the Dao-Incinerating Fan, and tried to defend himself.

Bang!!

The Dao-Incinerating fan was sent flying backward. Fu Tianyi’s blood and qi shook on impact.

The Sword of Proximity suppressed his Epoch Treasure, so without the Skyless Darkness Divine Formation’s support, this unparalleled figure among divine children ultimately wasn’t even worth looking at. Before he could react, a swath of chaotic sword qi came crashing down, killing him on the spot.

Destroyed, body and soul!

The woman in black shrieked in terror and turned to flee.

Bang!

She shattered a forbidden escape talisman and shot into the Blood-Soaked Demonic Diagram, disappearing without a trace.@@novelbin@@

Alas, although she didn’t know it, just a few days prior, the soul body of the Temple Guardian Arhat Jia Yun, one of the Dipankara Buddha’s subordinates, had tried to flee too. Yet in spite of his best efforts, he hadn't escaped death in the end.

Had she known, she wouldn’t have dared to attempt this.

Whoosh!

A streak of sword light whooshed past.

Thirty thousand miles away, the Blood-Soaked Demonic Diagram shook violently. A swath of sword light intercepted it, slamming into it and making it wail. It was like a canvas on the verge of tearing.

The woman hidden within it was forced directly out into the open. She staggered on her feet, but before she could steady herself, chaotic sword qi slammed into her.

“No——!” The woman cried out and fought with mad desperation, but it was ultimately to no avail.

She had no divine treasures to defend herself, only her cultivation base. How could she possibly withstand the Sword of Proximity’s power? Her curvy, exquisite figure was instantly enveloped, and her body and soul were ground away to nothingness!

Seth's Thoughts

Epoch tribulations have only been mentioned... I think once? And it was way back in Chapter 1691:

The Divine Fortune Teller’s expression shifted. “No, if my vision comes true, it will mean that a Grand Tribulation of the Epochs has appeared over the River of Epochs! Otherwise, the gods could not possibly break the fetters of the natural order and enter this world.”

“A Grand Tribulation of the Epochs? What does that mean?” Su Yi exclaimed.

The Divine Fortune Teller coughed and muffled his speech. “A cataclysm that only exists in fleeting rumors. (...) All you need to know is that it would take a cataclysm great enough to transform the Laws to let those lofty and supreme deities enter this world free of the fetters of the natural order.”
