First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1930: Nightslayer Ridge

Chapter 1930: Nightslayer Ridge

The lands of the Goldenflame Demons.

An elderly servant rushed into the hall. “Grand Elder, everyone has entered the Illusory Demon Hidden Realm.”

“Excellent. Carry on.” High Elder Jin Kun nodded, and the old servant turned and left.

As soon as the old man left, Grand Elder Jin Kun let out a long sigh. The Goldenflame Demons’ top experts had long since left for Nightslayer Ridge. Without Demon Sovereigns overseeing things, the Nine Great Demon Clans’ remaining forces could only hide.

The Illusory Demon Hidden Realm was a secluded ground under the Goldenflame Demons’ control. If they hid inside, no one would be able to find them!

“Wang Ye, you sure are something. Your arrival didn’t just force the Nine Great Demon Races into battle. You even forced us to send our clansmen into hiding!” murmured Jin Kun.

You couldn’t tell a man’s strength from his words alone, but the enormity of the disturbance that followed Su Yi’s arrival was clear proof of his strength.

Three days prior, Wang Ye’s reincarnation broke through Celestial Wolf Gate and pointed his sword at the Ancestral Demon Grounds. When word spread, it shook the entire Spirit Domain.

Even the Nine Great Demon Races, the rulers of the Spirit Domain, had no choice but to dance to the beat of his drum. All of them sent their top experts to Nightslayer Ridge.

This was what made Wang Ye so terrifying. Even after countless years, his every move sent a storm sweeping across the world. It was utterly shocking, without any need for exaggeration or embellishment!

“Bingying, if there’s any news from Nightslayer Ridge, anything at all, inform me immediately,” ordered Jin Kun. “I won’t be able to see Wang Ye’s reincarnation die with my own eyes, but hearing about it will be enough!”

“Got it!” Outside the building, a fierce bird shrouded in icy blue mist stood on the eaves, its eyes flashing like lightning.

But as soon as the bird acknowledged its orders, it let out a shrill, terrified cry, and it quivered from head to toe.

“What happened?” Jin Kun’s heart shook.

The bird stammered, “Your Excellency, he… he’s here!”

“Who’s here?” Jin Kun frowned. This was the Goldenflame Demons’ territory, and it was completely covered in formations sufficient to kill even Demon Sovereigns. Without their permission, no one could take even a single step inside.

“It’s… it’s…” The bird shuddered, seemingly overcome with fright. To Jin Kun’s shock, before it could even finish its sentence, it fainted and toppled from the eaves.

Jin Kun sensed the danger and shot to his feet. He immediately bellowed, “To me!”

His voice boomed like thunder, spreading beyond the hall and clattering the tiles outside.

But the only response he got was the soft thudding of footsteps. They had a distinctive cadence, and the sound was relaxing and pleasant.

As the footsteps drew nearer, Jin Kun saw a young man in blue robes approach. He was alone, and as leisurely and composed as if there were no one else around!

“You…” Jin Kun looked stricken. “Are you Wang Ye!?”

Su Yi smiled. “I am.”

Jin Kun’s knees turned to jelly, and he almost toppled to the floor. All he could think was, I’m finished!

……

Two days later.

Nightslayer Ridge.

The towering mountains formed a natural barrier, their slopes shrouded in dark thunderclouds year-round.

The leaders of the Nine Great Demon Races and over a hundred Demon Sovereigns were gathered on the slopes.

Boom!

Thunderclouds churned overhead, and lightning flew through the air.

A blue scroll painting fully one hundred thousand feet long hovered in the air. A calamitous divine aura emanated from the scroll, and countless mysterious markings churned within it.

“With the Imprisoned Skies Painting the gods gave us, we have no fear of divine misfortune. We can use our cultivations to our hearts' content!” said an old man. He gazed fervently up at the dome of heaven.

The Imprisoned Skies Painting!

This was an Epoch Treasure under the control of Divine Emissary Star Dragon. The Nine Great Demon Races were borrowing its power to take down Su Yi.

“Although some of our Demon Sovereigns are currently invading the Immortal Realm, the forces we have left in the Spirit Domain are enough to ensure that Su Yi dies here!” someone said with assurance.

A total of one hundred and seven Demon Sovereigns had gathered in Nightslayer Ridge, including eighteen Profound Demon Sovereigns!

A lineup like that could sweep through the entire Spirit Domain with ease.

Moreover, they’d placed an inescapable net around Nightslayer Ridge, and all of the Demon Sovereigns came prepared with all manner of killer weapons!

This filled their hearts with confidence.

“Throughout both the Immortal Realm and the Spirit Domain, only the Tyrant is worth rallying such an army for. When he dies here, I’ll personally invite our allies from all over the Spirit Domain and host a banquet. We’ll celebrate for three days straight!” someone said with eagerness.

“Don’t celebrate prematurely. Save such talk after we’ve killed the Tyrant,” someone said calmly. “Don’t forget what the divine emissaries told us. The Tyrant’s reincarnation might only be in the Great Unity Stage, but his strength is heaven-defying. He can even threaten Great Profound Stage experts!”

The crowd nodded. They didn’t know that much about Su Yi. All they knew was what the divine emissaries had told them about the battle at the Immortal Peach Assembly.

But even that was enough to ensure that they didn’t dare to get complacent. At the Immortal Peach Assembly, Su Yi’s dazzling sharpness was on full display. He didn’t just slay a whole group of Great Realm experts. He even cut down multiple divine children!

It was for this reason that the demons had rallied such a collection of experts on top of covering Nightslayer Ridge with death traps.

No one else would have been worthy of such effort!

“Countless years later, we’re finally going to end our enmity with the Tyrant once and for all. It almost doesn’t feel real,” someone sighed.

The others felt much the same way. None of them had anticipated that Su Yi would attack the Spirit Domain in response to their armies invading the Immortal Realm. It happened so suddenly, and it was entirely unexpected.

“He had no choice but to come,” someone said coolly. “Rather, he alone could never have defeated our army of a million demons. His only choice was to risk himself and attack the Spirit Domain alone. In other words, he’s gambling! If he wins, he’ll deal the Nine Great Demon Races a massive blow and resolve the Immortal Realm’s imminent peril. Two birds, one stone.”

The crowd nodded. Su Yi’s plan was simple but effective.

At the very least, the demons had no choice but to send their top experts to Nightslayer Ridge to wait for Su Yi.

But if Su Yi lost, he’d die. More than that, the inhabitants of the Immortal Realm would lose their greatest pillar of support and become little more than fish on the chopping block for the Spirit Domain.

“We have to take him down this time, no matter the cost!” someone said gravely, seething with murderous intent.

Suddenly, someone called out, “Everyone, he’s here!”

Boom!

A thunderclap went off overhead, resounding throughout the surrounding area.

Dazzling electric light illuminated heaven and earth, reflected on the gathered demon experts’ faces. Their expressions flickered in and out of view.

All of them were gazing into the distance.

A little boat was soaring toward them beneath the overcast skies. A tall, upright figure stood on board, his blue robes fluttering in the wind.

This was none other than Su Yi.

This was the first time that the experts of the Nine Great Demon Races had seen him. For a moment, their gazes were intent and inquisitive.

“Do you remember this place, Tyrant?” A thirty-foot-tall man suddenly stepped forth and rose into the air. His enormous eyes locked onto Su Yi, and he broke into a grin. “We stopped your approach here, forcing you to flee in panic. I would never have guessed you’d dare return now, countless years later! Are you truly unafraid to die?”

Su Yi glanced at the man, then raised and swung his hand.

Kcch!

A streak of sword qi appeared out of nowhere above the man’s head, then descended with a bang.

The entire stretch of sky split, and sword qi scattered.

The enormously tall man blocked this attack, but he was nonetheless sent flying. His armor split, and a gash appeared on his chest, so deep that his bones were visible!

One casual slash, and he’d injured a Profound Demon Sovereign!

This tyrannical scene made many of the others’ eyes widen. Their hearts shook. It seems… that the Tyrant’s reincarnation is even more terrifying than rumors suggest!

“I didn’t come here to listen to your nonsense,” Su Yi said flatly. “I’ve come to see how much progress you demon scum have made over the years.”

Boom!

Thunderclouds churned overhead, shaking heaven and earth.

Su Yi stood alone on the Sky-Covering Boat, a rain of chaos-like sword intent raining from his tall, upright figure. His distant gaze swept across the crowd, aloof, proud, and contemptuous as could be. His proud majesty and unparalleled bearing was like the sharp edge of an unparalleled sword bearing down on the entire area!

The experts of the Nine Great Demon Races couldn’t help but turn solemn. Now that they were seeing Su Yi for themselves, they realized that the enemy they’d reviled for countless years was still mighty enough to make their hearts shake. Reincarnating didn’t change that.

Suddenly, a man with long red hair emerged from the crowd and waved his sleeves. “You want to get this over with? Hah! Have a look at these people, then decide if you really want to attack us.”

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Figures fell from the sky in a dense rain. There were over ten thousand of them, all unconscious. Su Yi could tell from their clothes and appearances that they were all experts of the Immortal Realm!

“Threatening me with hostages?” Su Yi said flatly. “You seriously have the face to pull out that old trick again? Don’t you realize how worthless that makes you seem?”

The red-haired man laughed. “The oldest tricks are the most effective! I’ll speak directly. Everyone here is prey we captured alive when we invaded the Immortal Realm during the Age of Fallen Immortals. All of them are connected to you! Some are from the Academy of Eternal Night, others are from the Central Immortal Court, and others are warriors once stationed at the Nine Gates of Heaven. We captured them alive so that we might one day show you how wretched the outcome is for those who serve you!”

Here, the man flashed Su Yi a brazen, unbridled grin and said slowly and clearly, “If you don’t care about their lives, go ahead and attack!”
