First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1936: Chaos Source

Chapter 1936: Chaos Source

A grand battle raged. Su Yi was surrounded on all sides.

The nine Divine Puppets’ power was like a fierce, pelting rain. They could have crushed any Great Realm expert of the present day with ease. Even unparalleled divine children would have been nothing to them!

But this only stimulated Su Yi’s will to fight. His blood heated up.

“Die!” He swung his fist, striking like lightning. Waves of sword qi swept outward, and heaven and earth seemed to boil around him as he launched into fierce combat with the Divine Puppets.

He was under enormous pressure, beset on all sides, suppressed at every turn. But this only made Su Yi all the happier. He unleashed the full extent of his cultivation base to his heart’s content.

Boom!

Sword qi swept through the air, and divine radiance overflowed. Heaven and earth seemed to overturn as the surrounding mountains and rivers crumbled.

He... can actually fight back against nine demigod-level Divine Puppets? Divine Emissary Star Dragon found this difficult to believe.

He and the other divine emissaries had long since moved further away. The sight of Su Yi’s terrifying strength made their hearts quiver.

Demigods!

Even in the God Domain, they were rarely seen. Only the mightiest of Great Realm experts, Heaven’s Chosen, could reach this level of strength.

But Su Yi was different. His cultivation base was obviously in the Great Unity Stage, yet he could stave off not one but nine demigod-level Divine Puppets at once. This was simply unheard of.

“All of us miscalculated. This guy’s obviously far stronger than he was at the Immortal Peach Assembly. He’s like a completely different person!” someone exclaimed.

“If he wasn't, how could he have single-handedly crushed Celestial Wolf Gate and made it all the way to the Ancestral Demon Grounds?” said another onlooker, gnashing his teeth.

The stronger Su Yi got, the more they feared him!

Bang!

A muffled impact rang out. Su Yi was thoroughly surrounded when a beam of golden light bore down on him, sending him flying. The divine puppets seized the opportunity to attack ruthlessly.

“What’s the rush? It’s too early to end this,” Su Yi said with a burst of laughter. He flipped his palm, and the Sword of the Human Realm appeared with a heaven-shaking hum, blocking the nine Divine Puppets’ attacks.

Boom!

Sword in hand, his aura expanded once more. A waterfall of sword intent poured down around him as he launched into fierce combat with the puppets once more.

Sword qi whooshed through the air, and from time to time, the cycle of reincarnation floated into view. Other times, it was as if the river of stars were pouring onto the world below, cleansing heaven and earth. Then all of a sudden, dazzling, sharp sword light glinted all over the battlefield. Boundless, immeasurable, and terrifying sword force was everywhere.

There was no denying it. The Divine Puppets were extremely terrifying. As the battle raged on, they firmly restricted Su Yi’s movements.

“No, things can’t go on like this. If they do, something is sure to go wrong!” When Divine Emissary Star Dragon saw that the battle wouldn’t end anytime soon, he was inwardly frantic.

He gnashed his teeth and ordered, “Tell the puppets to use their strongest attacks and end this quickly!

“Got it!” The nine divine emissaries nodded and poured their power into their formation discs. This was the key to controlling the Divine Puppets.

The nine Divine Puppets all let out heaven-shaking roars. Their demonic figures erupted with terrifying divine light, and their momentum soared!

Su Yi’s eyes narrowed. Is this the Divine Puppets’ true power? They really are terrifying!Had I fought them prior to breaking into Great Unity, I would have lost beyond a doubt.

“Die!” The nine Divine Puppets joined forces to surround him. They were far stronger than before, and they instantly locked Su Yi down completely.

He was in grave peril, beset on all sides!

When Divine Emissary Star Dragon and the others saw this, they relaxed considerably.

“If we capture the heretic, we’ll absolutely claim the lion’s share of the credit!” one of them said with eagerness.

The others’ imaginations ran wild, too. They could picture it already. So long as they captured Su Yi, ascending to the God Domain and continuing their cultivation in the Three Purities Daoist Court would be simple. Trivial, even!

That aside, they might well win the gods’ appreciation and other rewards. Their future prospects would be immeasurable!

Divine Emissary Star Dragon said softly, “We have to seize this opportunity… no matter the price!”

Meanwhile, Su Yi’s predicament worsened. It seemed to the onlookers that he might topple at a moment’s notice.

But it was then that——

Clang!!

The boundless humming of a sword rang out as a six-inch sword coffin floated into the air. Its terrifying sword force alone was enough to suppress the nine Divine Puppets!

“This…” The divine emissaries were completely dumbstruck. All their eagerness grew wings and flew away.

“Suppress!” Meanwhile, Su Yi’s voice boomed. He swung his palm and pressed down on the air.

Boom!

The six-inch sword coffin rumbled and erupted with all-encompassing chaos sword qi.

How terrifying were the nine Divine Puppets? Yet for all their power, when that chaos sword qi fell, it was as if they’d been struck by lightning. All of their ferocity and strength were completely suppressed.

A deafening impact followed, and the nine Divine Emissaries were suppressed in place, unable to move a finger.

One slash, and Su Yi had rendered nine demigod-level Divine Puppets immobile. Meanwhile, he stood in midair, as contemptuous as a god!

Divine Emissary Star Dragon and the others were wide-eyed, tongue-tied, and overcome with astonishment. Their minds went completely blank.

This was someone who’d only just been on the verge of defeat. Now, he’d turned this around in the blink of an eye, suppressing all nine Divine Puppets. Who wouldn’t have been astonished? And who wouldn’t have been terrified?

Boom!

Chaos sword qi permeated the air, thoroughly restricting the nine Divine Puppets.

Meanwhile, Su Yi let out a heartfelt sigh. “These nine Divine Puppets really are something. In a one-on-one fight I could rely purely on my own strength, but against nine…? They were just too much…”

It seemed he found this an awful pity.

“....” The divine emissaries didn’t know what to say. A deathly silence descended over the area. All of them were despondent, and their hopes turned to ash.

Those were nine Divine Puppets! Each was comparable to a demigod!

Who could have imagined they’d be suppressed so easily? This came as far too heavy a blow. The divine emissaries were on the brink of despair.

It was then that Su Yi attacked out of nowhere. Sword qi suddenly surged from heaven and earth, manifesting a sword cage. It instantly confined the nine divine emissaries controlling the formation discs, preventing them from moving.

“Shit!” Divine Emissary Star Dragon turned and fled.

Boom!

A streak of sword qi descended from the heavens, like surging lightning, boring a hole through Divine Emissary Star Dragon’s skull. He was instantly destroyed, body and soul!

Su Yi couldn’t be bothered to spare him so much as a second glance. When he reached the nine remaining divine emissaries, he stretched out his hand and grabbed.

Nine formation discs landed in his palm. These were the treasures used to control the Divine Puppets!

“How do you use these?” Su Yi looked them over and quickly discovered that a secret technique was required to operate them.

The nine divine emissaries were visibly overcome with terror and despair. One of them asked in a quavering voice, “If we tell you, might you leave us a path to life?”

Su Yi thought for a moment, then nodded. “Sure.”

With that, he waved his sleeves, and the sword cage imprisoning the nine divine emissaries vanished.

“Leave the secret technique, then go tell Huo Jianfeng that when I return to the Immortal Realm, I’ll be looking for him,” said Su Yi.

“You… You’re really willing to let us go?” The divine emissaries found this hard to believe.

Su Yi said flatly, “Believe me or don’t. Either way, you have no other choice, right?”

The divine emissaries exchanged glances. It seemed they were discussing something amongst themselves.

In the end, they each took out a jade slip and passed it to Su Yi. Su Yi examined their contents and confirmed everything was in order before waving them away. “You can leave.”

The nine divine emissaries were obviously ill at ease. It was only when they saw that Su Yi really didn’t give chase that they dared believe they’d escaped with their lives.

They immediately scampered off in panic.

Meanwhile, Su Yi stood by the banks of the Chaos Pool, activated each of the nine formation discs in turn, and issued a single command to the nine Divine Puppets——“Submit to me!”

As expected, the nine Divine Puppets immediately gave up the struggle, becoming meek and obedient.

Only then did Su Yi remove the chaos sword qi suppressing them. Inwardly, he felt the satisfaction of an ample harvest, but he also found this a bit of a pity.

He was pleased because the nine Divine Puppets would be enormously useful. Nine demigod-level experts could sweep through all of the Immortal Realm’s Great Realm experts!

But using them to deal with the divine children was likely to be difficult. After all, all of them had Epoch Treasures. Taboo killer weapons like that were enough to threaten the divine puppets.

Of course, if the Divine Puppets had Epoch Treasures of their own, the divine children wouldn’t be able to fight back.

What Su Yi really found a pity was that he hadn’t been able to go all out for fear of damaging the puppets. Thus, he didn’t get the satisfaction of a battle fought purely with his own strength.

“Shrink!” Su Yi activated the formation discs, and the nine Divine Puppets shrank to the size of his palm and hovered in front of him.

Six men and three women. These were the Nine Progenitors of the Nine Great Demon Races.

It was said that at their peak, they were comparable to gods. They presided over the Spirit Domain, and they were the pillars of the Nine Great Demon Races. Who could have imagined that they would one day be refined into puppets?

This only served to further reinforce the idea that, if you lacked the strength to negotiate gods with an equal, it was better not to work with them. If you did, they’d only use you as a tool—wasn’t that the case for the divine emissaries confined in the Immortal Realm since the Primeval Era?

Ultimately, the gods were lofty, and they stood above the masses. There was no way they’d take anyone in the Immortal Realm seriously.

That aside, because Divine Thrones were so limited, they longed for nothing more than to destroy everyone with a chance at achieving divinity. How could they possibly agree to help someone become a god out of the goodness of their hearts?

The Nine Progenitors had been tricked!

They thought that the gods would keep their promise to restore their bodies and pave their paths to divinity. Little did they know, the gods saw them as mere materials for puppet-making the entire time!

How tragic was that?

As for the nine divine emissaries who Su Yi let go? He didn’t care about them in the slightest. A bunch of flunkies, nothing more. Moreover, after losing the nine Divine Puppets, they were sure to face the gods’ judgment and punishment!

In other words, even though he’d “spared” them, they wouldn’t be able to bear the weight of the gods’ wrath.

Su Yi shook his head, cast those thoughts aside, and put away the puppets. He then turned his attention toward the Chaos Pool.

After their fierce battle, the hidden realm lay in ruin. Only the Chaos Pool remained intact. It was completely unaffected.

“Is this the chaos source that gave rise to the Nine Progenitors?”
