Chapter 775: 774 I booked the flight for tomorrow
When Wen Ran got home, she called Bai Xiaoxiao. She had also just arrived home. After a brief chat, she hung up, put down her phone, and prepared to take a shower.
Just as she moved a few steps, she looked back at her phone left on the bed. Pausing to consider, she returned, picked up her phone, and sent a text message.
The message read, “I’m home.”
Of course, the message was sent to Mo Xiuchen.
After her shower, the first thing she did was check her phone. Seeing no response from Mo Xiuchen, a pang of mild disappointment welled up in Wen Ran’s heart.
Nevertheless, having tricked Cheng Jia, Wen Ran was still in a good mood.
She had an excellent sleep that night, sleeping soundly until around 9 in the morning.
In contrast to her restful sleep, Cheng Jia’s night was the complete opposite.
Cheng Jia didn’t wake up until the next morning. Initially, she didn’t realize that she had been turned into a ‘female ghost.’ She only remembered opening her door last night to see a female ghost standing at her doorway.
At this thought, Cheng Jia reached for her phone to check her call history. To her surprise, there was no record of her midnight call with Mo Xiuchen. Despite it being early morning, a chill rose from the bottom of her heart.
Cheng Jia got out of bed and caught sight of the female ghost in the mirror. She let out a scream, instinctively covering her eyes. Taking a long, deep breath before slowly lowering her hands, she peeked through her fingers at the mirror.
Only to discover, the female ghost in the mirror was herself.
Cheng Jia was infuriated to the point of madness. She forced herself to calm down.
Once again, she recalled last night’s events. It wasn’t a dream; it was real.
All she could remember was answering a call from Mo Xiuchen. She went to open the door, and standing outside was a female ghost.
She seemed to have fainted right after that, and she didn’t know what happened next or why she had become like this.
Cheng Jia rushed into the bathroom to wash off her makeup. Once done, she immediately dialed Mo Xiuchen’s number.
The phone rang several times before Mo Xiuchen’s deep, indifferent voice came through, tinged with a slight chill, “Hello?”
Cheng Jia took a deep breath and asked gently, “Xiuchen, did you call me at noon?”
Early morning in G City is midday in D Country.
“No, what’s wrong?”
Mo Xiuchen’s cold voice gave nothing away.
Cheng Jia pursed her lips, forcing a smile, “No, it’s nothing.”
“If it’s nothing, I’ll hang up. I’m busy.”
The person on the other end finished speaking and immediately hung up. @@novelbin@@
Cheng Jia gripped her phone tightly, looking at the call history on her screen.
She suspected Mo Xiuchen was lying. Last night’s phone call wasn’t fake, but Mo Xiuchen didn’t admit to it.
His denial implied that among those who scared her last night was Mo Xiuchen.
If he was not the mastermind, then he was an accomplice.
Mo Xiuchen had lost his memory. Who would he help to scare her? Was it that he disliked her and had someone scare her?
But he was abroad, and he didn’t know where she lived.
Moreover, Mo Xiuchen should not be such a petty man. If he didn’t like her, he would drive her away rather than have someone scare her.
Cheng Jia was confused about who could have frightened her as well as managed to get Mo Xiuchen to help.
If it had been before his memory loss, she would have suspected Wen Ran unequivocally, but now she didn’t want to believe that the amnesiac Mo Xiuchen had made contact with Wen Ran and was even willing to scare her half to death for Wen Ran’s amusement.

As soon as Wen Ran woke up, she got a call from Bai Xiaoxiao, “Ranran, did Cheng Jia call you?”
Bai Xiaoxiao asked curiously over the phone. It wasn’t that she was concerned about Cheng Jia; she wanted to see what Cheng Jia looked like after being angered by their previous night’s activities.
Wen Ran chuckled and replied, “No, but don’t worry. I assume she’s checking what happened last night and will confront me about it. Even if she doesn’t want to believe it, she will call me.”
“Okay, you have to tell me what she says when she calls you. And, Ranran, don’t be polite with her.”
“Alright.”
With a gentle smile on her face, Wen Ran chatted with Bai Xiaoxiao for a bit before hanging up and heading downstairs.
Gu Kai and Gu Yan had already left for work, leaving only the housekeeper at home. Seeing Wen Ran coming downstairs, she promptly served her breakfast.
Just as Wen Ran sat down at the dining table, her phone rang again. When she saw the caller ID, an unconscious smile slipped onto her face, and she pressed the answer key, “Hello?”
“Ranran, are you awake yet?”
The call was from Mo Xiuchen.
Wen Ran was a little surprised, but her surprise was predominantly comprised of delight, “I just woke up.”
“I figured you’d sleep in a bit, so I didn’t want to disturb you earlier. Cheng Jia called me. She asked if I had called her, and I denied it.”
Mo Xiuchen was calling her as a heads up.
He didn’t know what grievances Wen Ran and Cheng Jia had with each other, but he was actually willing to dislike someone who had been persistently lingering around him for over two months for the sake of her, a woman he had only met once.
Wen Ran didn’t find it surprising. It was after Cheng Jia answered a phone call from Mo Xiuchen that she got scared and fainted. She had fainted, not lost her memory.
She would definitely remember everything after waking up.
Calling to confirm everything was normal too.
But she didn’t expect Mo Xiuchen to deny it. Moreover, when he said he denied it, he didn’t have any trace of regret. Instead, his words carried a hint of amusement.
“Oh, I see.”
“Ranran, will Cheng Jia make trouble for you or seek revenge?”
Mo Xiuchen asked worriedly. Last night, she asked for his help. At that moment, all he thought was that it was nice to see her happy.
He didn’t consider what would happen afterward with Cheng Jia, but now, he was a bit worried.
He was afraid that Cheng Jia would seek revenge on Wen Ran. Also, once he thought about it, he was extremely uneasy.
Wen Ran reassured him with a smile, “No, she doesn’t know it was me.”
“That’s good.”
Mo Xiuchen hesitated before saying, “I’ve booked a flight back home for tomorrow. Don’t forget that you promised me a meal.”
“Okay.”
There was a moment of silence from Wen Ran’s side. After a while, she softly answered.
The housekeeper brought breakfast right when she ended the call with Mo Xiuchen.
Just as she hung up, Cheng Jia’s call came through. Seeing the incoming call, Wen Ran ignored it, throwing her phone onto the table and let it ring on and on.
Until the phone silenced itself, a few seconds later, the phone started vibrating again, the ringtone becoming pleasant background music for her breakfast.
Wen Ran leisurely finished her breakfast before dialing Cheng Jia’s number.
She made herself comfortable on the living room couch. With a lazy posture, she rested her head to one side, holding the phone to her ear with one hand.
The phone only rang twice before being picked up, and Cheng Jia’s shrill, irate voice came through.
Wen Ran’s brows furrowed slightly, and she quickly moved the phone a little away from her ear, “Wen Ran, you despicable schemer, you actually scared me by pretending to be a ghost.”
What do you think?
