Chapter 802: 801 I’m too busy, I forgot
City C
As it was Bai Xiaoxiao’s first visit to City C and she was a woman Luo Haofeng favored, An Lin was extremely curious about her and insisted on hosting a dinner for everyone.
This, of course, included Luo Haofeng.
Luo Haofeng initially didn’t know Bai Xiaoxiao had returned from the Maldives. When An Lin mentioned dinner, he agreed without hesitation, as it was scheduled for seven in the evening.
He had finished the tasks he hadn’t completed during the day. Qin Mu and Wen Ran went to the airport together, which also delayed some matters, just in time for both of them to work overtime.
Together, they went to the restaurant An Lin had reserved.
Qin Mu, a tight-lipped person, naturally didn’t tell him anything on the way. Hence, when they reached the restaurant and Luo Haofeng pushed open the door of the private room, he first saw Bai Xiaoxiao sitting inside.
Luo Haofeng was stunned on the spot.
Qin Mu, half a step behind him, saw him freeze at the doorway. His lips curled into a mocking smile, and he gently nudged Luo Haofeng with his elbow.
In the private room, Bai Xiaoxiao was telling An Lin about the amusing incident she had shared with Wen Ran that afternoon, about being asked out by a blue-eyed handsome man. Hearing the sound of the door, she turned her head and her gaze met Luo Haofeng’s surprised eyes.
Her heartbeat skipped a beat.
The atmosphere seemed to capture a subtle change in their interlocking gazes. An Lin and Wen Ran, sitting nearby, silently watched the scene unfold, neither of them speaking to break their eye contact.
Bai Xiaoxiao thought that after spending half a month outside, seeing various men, including many handsome ones, she could let go of Luo Haofeng just as she had let go of Xiao Yuting.
But the moment her eyes met his, a deep bitterness flooded her heart.
It turned out that some people are hard to fall for and even harder to forget.
At the doorway, Luo Haofeng, upon seeing Bai Xiaoxiao, felt a rush of emotions. It was hard to tell whether joy dominated or shock, or perhaps, the longing from these past days…
So many feelings surged from his narrow, romantic eyes and then receded like the tide, finally returning to calm. His handsome brow rose slightly, a charming smile spread across his devilishly handsome face as he stepped into the room, “Xiaoxiao, when did you get back? Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Luo Haofeng’s voice was clear and cheerful, entirely as if welcoming an old friend, as if the person who had been too astonished to step forward at the door wasn’t him.
His gaze didn’t linger on Bai Xiaoxiao but merely swept over her before turning to Wen Ran.
Wen Ran widened his eyes innocently: “I went to the airport to pick up Xiaoxiao and didn’t return to the company, so I didn’t see you. Didn’t An Lin and Qin Mu tell you?”
An Lin immediately absolved herself: “I thought Ah Mu had told you.”
Luo Haofeng turned his head toward Qin Mu, who was leisurely walking up behind him, his eyes flashing sharply like knives.
Qin Mu glanced at Wen Ran and An Lin; clearly, both women had pushed the responsibility onto him—the heartless pair. He resigned himself to endure Luo Haofeng’s knifelike gaze.
His lips, fearlessly, curved into a smile as he calmly said, “I was too busy and forgot.”
Such a thing could be forgotten.
Of course, Luo Haofeng didn’t believe him, but now was not the time to pursue responsibility. He gave Qin Mu a stern look, walked over to sit next to Wen Ran, and left the spot next to An Lin for Qin Mu.
Qin Mu merely lowered his eyes when Luo Haofeng pulled out the chair in front of Wen Ran, the curve of his lips still present but void of any smile, then he pulled out another chair and sat down.
Five people, no one sitting directly opposite anyone else.
Wen Ran was seated between Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao, and when Qin Mu sat down, Luo Haofeng’s mouth curled into a pleased smile, seemingly casting a casual glance his way.
Qin Mu pursed his lips, his expression composed, and turned to the person beside him, “An Lin, have you all ordered the food yet?”
“We ordered just a while ago, just waiting for the two of you. I’ll open the wine first.”
Right then, a waiter came in with a tray. An Lin took the red wine brought by the waiter, “For everyone to enjoy the drink, I specifically chose a restaurant near the apartment. Tonight, no one is allowed to abstain, and moreover, we are not going home unless drunk.”
Wen Ran watched An Lin skillfully open the wine bottle and pour the wine into the glasses, frowning slightly, “An Lin, pour one less glass, Qin Mu can’t drink.”
Qin Mu, who was previously gazing at An Lin pouring the wine, was caught off guard by Wen Ran’s words, his heart startled, and he subconsciously looked up at her.
Meeting Wen Ranqing’s clear, watery eyes, a warmth involuntarily surged in Qin Mu’s heart.
Seeing him look her way, Wen Ran explained gently, “You’ve been relentlessly busy since you arrived in City C. Why not take a trip back to G City tomorrow? Let my brother give you a full-body check-up. If there’s nothing wrong, from then on, you can drink however you please.”
These words, no matter how one heard them, sounded like she was consoling a child.
Qin Mu pondered for a moment then nodded in agreement, “Okay!”
Luo Haofeng, with half-lidded eyes, looked at Qin Mu, “Ah Mu, since when have you become so agreeable? Ranran, you can’t be so biased. I’ve also been struggling these past days, not even resting on Sundays. You can’t just stop Ah Mu from drinking, I won’t drink either.”
Bai Xiaoxiao glanced at Luo Haofeng and said heartily, “An Lin, I actually want to drink. Give me both of their shares.”
It wasn’t just a casual remark, Bai Xiaoxiao reached out to bring over two glasses and placed them in front of herself, then she reached for a third cup.
Luo Haofeng hadn’t expected Bai Xiaoxiao to take such action, and seeing her hand stretch out to take another glass, he instinctively extended his arm, and just as her hand was inches away from the glass, he grabbed her wrist, frowning, “Xiaoxiao, you’re a girl, don’t drink so much.”
“I’m happy, I want to drink.” Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand stiffened in his palm, defiance flickering in her beautiful eyes.
Actually, she was also a bit dazed, not knowing what had gotten into her.
Hearing her somewhat spiteful words, Luo Haofeng’s eyes shifted subtly, and he slowly loosened his grip on her hand, picked up two glasses of wine, and placed them before himself, “An Lin, hold off on that. Ranran, the glass in front of Xiaoxiao is yours.”
“No problem.” Wen Ran answered with a smile, noticing that Xiaoxiao’s mood seemed a bit off, probably upset about not being able to forget Luo Haofeng.@@novelbin@@
“Ah Mu, are you really not drinking?”
An Lin had poured four glasses, and one empty glass was Qin Mu’s; she stopped pouring to look at him questioningly.
Qin Mu, with his fine brows and calm eyes as still as water, didn’t ponder An Lin’s question and simply responded indifferently, “I won’t drink.”
An Lin smiled, said nothing further, and placed the wine bottle on a small table behind her.
Everyone clinked their glasses, Qin Mu substituting wine with water. After the toast, Bai Xiaoxiao tilted her head back, gulping down all the wine in her glass, then reached out to An Lin, “An Lin, pour me another.”
An Lin looked at Luo Haofeng, noting his somewhat somber expression. She hesitated before saying, “Xiaoxiao, stop drinking, the dishes have arrived. Let’s eat first.”
What do you think?
