Chapter 893: 892 I miss you very much
“If you don’t want to take up the position in City C immediately, you can continue to stay in G City, I’ll arrange someone else there,” Mo Xiuchen said, his body relaxed in the chair as he lazily leaned back and slightly lifted his eyes to glance at Mo Zixuan standing in front of the desk. He picked up the cup on the desk, elegantly twisted open the lid, and took a drink.
Mo Zixuan lowered his eyelids and hesitated for a moment before making a decision, “Since she’s coming back with the child, I’ll stay in G City first.”
Mo Xiuchen set down his cup, his tone flat and unreadable as he replied, “Fine, that’s your personal matter; I won’t interfere.”
He didn’t know much about Mo Zixuan’s affairs, only hearing a few things from Wen Ran before she went abroad. It seemed that Zhou Lin ending up in Mo Zixuan’s bed had something to do with him.
However, Mo Zixuan didn’t like Zhou Lin, which is why Zhou Lin ended up giving birth to their daughter alone. This time, when her daughter fell ill, she just asked Wen Ran to pass the message to Mo Zixuan instead of calling him herself.
Mo Xiuchen asking Mo Zixuan like this today wasn’t without reason. At the time when Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao went abroad, the person who relayed the message was Mo Xiuchen himself.
After hearing the message relayed by him, Mo Zixuan didn’t say a word until ten days ago when he came to Mo Xiuchen to inquire about Zhou Lin’s daughter’s condition.
“Last night, I was tidying the study and found something in Mo Jingteng’s drawer,” Mo Zixuan changed the topic and after speaking, he took a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Mo Xiuchen.
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flashed sharply as he stared at the folded paper in his hand and did not reach out to take it.
Mo Zixuan suddenly laughed, “Originally, Mo Jingteng dragged me to get a DNA test because he found evidence of my mother’s betrayal and thought I was Wu Tianyi’s son.”
Mo Xiuchen’s expression gradually turned cold, and his thin lips pressed tightly together.
Mo Zixuan placed the paper on the desk, squinted his eyes and continued, “I used to say I couldn’t understand whether Mo Jingteng loved or hated you. Now, I understand.”
“I used to be somewhat jealous of you, thinking you were too outstanding, even thinking that Mo Jingteng treated you better than he treated me. But now, I suddenly feel that you, like me, have never truly received a father’s love,” Mo Zixuan said.
Mo Xiuchen reached out, slowly picked up the piece of paper Mo Zixuan had placed on the desk.
The paper was slightly yellowed with age, the creases deep, and the paper itself was faintly rotting, seeming as if Mo Jingteng often took it out to look at it.
It was a DNA test result, not of Mo Zixuan.
“You go back to work,” Mo Xiuchen said emotionlessly after reading the content, his deep voice hard to read as he ordered Mo Zixuan.
Mo Zixuan looked a bit surprised, staring at Mo Xiuchen’s stern face for a few seconds before turning and leaving the office.
**
Mo Xiuchen arrived at the airport half an hour early because of his busy schedule, not taking a break at noon, working overtime to finish his tasks, and having his secretary push back the schedule for the next day.
Watching that familiar slender figure emerge with the crowd from the security checkpoint, Mo Xiuchen’s originally cold and lonely eyes suddenly warmed, and his brows slowly relaxed.
Wen Ran also spotted the man waiting outside immediately; his figure was tall and imposing among the crowd.
Even among many people, she could recognize him instantly, their gazes meeting through the air, her face lighting up with a radiant smile.
Accompanying Mo Xiuchen was Gu Kai, who did not compete with Mo Xiuchen but instead allowed the accompanying doctor to step forward and take the baby girl from Zhou Lin’s arms, heading straight to the hospital.
Bai Xiaoxiao said something to Wen Ran and then followed Zhou Lin, Gu Kai, and others out of the airport. Seeing they had all left, Qing Feng and Qing Yang didn’t dare to disturb Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, promptly following the others out of the airport.
“Ranran, you’ve gotten a tan.”
Mo Xiuchen’s distinctively jointed large palm held Wen Ran’s soft little hand, feeling the familiar touch that immediately steadied and warmed his heart.
Meeting his eyes filled with pity, Wen Ran playfully smiled, “It’s not a tan, it’s a healthy glow. Besides accompanying Zhou Lin for her daughter’s treatment in D Country, Xiaoxiao and I also went to several places for fun.”
“Hmm, I saw all those pictures you sent,” Mo Xiuchen’s gaze tenderly swept over her, examining her from head to toe, as though he wouldn’t be reassured unless he checked her over inch by inch as if even one hair less would be noticed.
Wen Ran glanced towards the door where Bai Xiaoxiao and the others had already disappeared, yet she and Mo Xiuchen were still standing there. She blinked, “Mo Xiuchen, are you not planning to take me home?”
The smile at the corner of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth deepened, his other large hand lifted to brush a lock of hair from her forehead, leaning in intentionally, he whispered ambiguously in her ear, “I can’t wait to take you home.”
A warm breath tingled in Wen Ran’s ear, making her body suddenly shiver, her face instantly flushed with colour.
Seeing her shy, Mo Xiuchen chuckled softly, “Ranran, let’s go home.”
Wen Ran shot him a look and walked out of the airport hand in hand with him. Once in the car, Mo Xiuchen turned to fasten her seatbelt, and Wen Ran couldn’t resist hugging him.
“Mo Xiuchen, I missed you so much.”
She buried her face in his warm chest, unaware that Mo Xiuchen’s brow furrowed lightly. His arm had just been touched by her when she hugged him.
Unfortunately, it was exactly where Mo Xiuchen was injured.
He merely furrowed his brow and dared not make a sound.
Listening to the woman in his arms say she missed him made the pain in his arm seem to lessen by more than half. The tenderness in his eyes deepened as he wrapped his arms around her, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
“Ranran, I missed you too.”
Wen Ran laughed heartily in his embrace, her smile brimming with happiness and sweetness. Even though she had frequently called him and he had often told her he missed her over the phone while she was abroad, speaking over the phone wasn’t quite the same as saying it face to face.
She preferred relaxing in his arms like this, listening to the strong, steady beat of his heart, inhaling the clean, pleasant scent of his masculine fragrance.
“Mo Xiuchen, would you have come to D Country to get me if I hadn’t come back?”
Wen Ran lifted her head, looking at Mo Xiuchen expectantly.
Mo Xiuchen nodded, “I was planning to come over after getting through these few days.”
Wen Ran pouted and sat up straight, speaking in a muted tone, “If I had known, I would have come back a few days later.”
“Or, I could buy you a plane ticket now, and you could go back to D Country to have fun for a few days until I can come over personally to get you,” Mo Xiuchen suggested seriously, but his deep-set eyes were irrepressibly filled with amusement.
Wen Ran shot him a look, asking coquettishly, “Why are you like this?”
Mo Xiuchen burst into hearty laughter, the sound bright and joyful. He reached up to caress her head, playfully tousling her hair as if she were a pet, only retracting his hand when Wen Ran exclaimed in surprise, satisfied, “Ranran, do we go home or to the hospital first?”
“Your arm…”
Wen Ran’s gaze fell on his arm, her face changing suddenly.
What do you think?
