Chapter 211: Florida Couple Hospitalized After 1,000-Day of Indulgent Activities in Ohio Man's Gym
Fifteen soul coins for 1,000 days of relaxation and hedonistic indulgence was a bargain, especially with the local aphrodisiac drugs enhancing libido and sensitivity tenfold. Felix and Diana had barely recovered their senses when a polite alert from the receptionist snapped them back to reality.
Fortunately, they managed to collect themselves in time. After a thorough bath to rinse away both sweat and euphoria, they dressed and prepared to leave. Moments later, they were teleported back to the lobby.
The muscular receptionist greeted them with a practiced smile.
"Welcome back, sir and madam. I trust you enjoyed your stay?"
Diana, still in a daze, flopped onto a nearby sofa, her eyes glassy. Felix gave the man a shaky thumbs-up and slumped onto a couch, panting like someone who had just run a marathon. Both felt like junkies forced into sudden withdrawal as 1,000 days of uninterrupted passion had left their minds foggy and uncoordinated. They temporarily forgot how to hold a conversation, let alone function normally.
For the next thirty minutes, they sat in silence, attempting to realign their scattered thoughts. The receptionist, ever considerate, brought them steaming cups of black herbal tea. The warm brew soothed their frazzled nerves, and he returned to his post as a new customer entered the gym.
The newcomer was an elderly woman. Clutching 40 soul coins, she browsed the brochure with a contemplative frown. Her gaze lingered on the intermediate cultivation chamber. But after seeing its steep price, she sighed, giving up on the top services for now.
She then glanced toward Felix and Diana. Spotting the dazed couple sipping tea, the woman's curiosity piqued. She approached them and initiated a conversation.
"Excuse me, young man and lady. May I ask, did you just use this facility's services?"
Felix, still recovering, glanced up and cleared his throat. "Ahem. Yeah, I mean, yes, ma'am."
The elderly woman studied them closely. She nodded knowingly.
"I assume you two have been dual-cultivating for a few years without stopping, correct?"
Both Felix and Diana froze, staring at the woman in astonishment. "How did you know?!"
The woman chuckled warmly, "I am Kinka, an elder at the Dual-Magic Tower. We encourage our students to dual-cultivate to awaken secondary elemental affinities. I've seen enough to recognize the symptoms. After a year or two of such intensive practice, many forget basic social cues, manners, or even how to function in society."
Felix and Diana exchanged glances. It was true. They felt like toddlers relearning how to interact with the world.
The elder's smile softened. "Don't worry; it happens to everyone at first. Just take some time to ground yourselves, and you'll be fine."
Diana finally found her voice, "Thank you, ma'am. We'll… keep that in mind."
Noticing Felix and Diana recovering quickly, Kinka decided to take the initiative. She seated on another sofa and leaned slightly forward, initiating a conversation and an offer.
"I don't mean to intrude, but I have something that might interest you. I carry recovery pills specifically tailored for mental fatigue and mind restoration. Additionally, I have copies of alchemy books, training manuals, and even a few martial arts tomes. I'm looking to trade them for soul coins. Would you be interested?"
Felix raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Although recovery pills weren't necessary for him at the moment, he was always on the lookout for knowledge, particularly in alchemy.
"May I take a look at some of your alchemy books?"
Kinka's face lit up. She eagerly produced a few alchemy books from her storage ring and handed them to Felix.
"These are foundational books used in my tower to train novice alchemists. The techniques and recipes are designed to be practical and accessible, even for beginners."
Felix flipped through the pages, his sharp eyes scanning the content. The books appeared to be well-organized, with simple diagrams and clear instructions. Still, he sought a second opinion. Silently, he reached out to Jessica through his system.
'Jessica, what do you think? How do these compare to the system store's alchemy books?'
*DING*
<These books offer simplified training methods for beginner alchemists. While some information is inaccurate or overly generalized, the content is excellent for building foundational skills. The practice recipes use easily obtainable and inexpensive ingredients, making them perfect for honing basic techniques.>
<By contrast, the system store's alchemy books are far more advanced, but they include a wealth of irrelevant details and overly complex recipes that could overwhelm someone without practical experience. My recommendation is to use these books to establish a strong foundation and switch to the system's advanced techniques after a decade of practice.>
Felix nodded and made his decision. He looked up at Kinka.
"These are quite good. How much are you asking for each book?"
Kinka's smile widened, sensing she was about to close a deal. "For the alchemy books, 2 soul coins each. The manuals and martial arts tomes are the same."
"Fair enough. I'll take three of these alchemy books for now."
Felix put six soul coins on the table. Kinka happily accepted them and put them in her inventory slot. As for the books, Felix took them from the table and collected them in his inventory, which Jessica instantly converted them into PDF files for digital browsing.
Aside from the alchemy books, Felix wasn't interested in anything else. They concluded the deal.
Although Kinka was slightly disappointed, she was happy that she got six soul coins richer. She then excused herself, leaving the building in searching for another opportunity.
After Kinka had gone, Diana muttered, "She's honest, isn't she? The books were cheap."
The receptionist walked over to serve them another cup of black tea. He had overheard everything and gave them an advice, "Instead of trading with the other chosen ones for soul coins, you should convert what you've collected from the scenario quests into items and sell them to the pawn shop near the phoenix pavilion."
"Eh? We can sell them?!" Both Felix and Diana were surprised by the tips.
"Only after you've processed them. They won't buy the raw materials," The receptionist beamed them with a flashbang smile, "A free service in the house! Please come again!"
Felix laughed, "Yeah, definitely seven stars out of five. I'll definitely return."
What do you think?
