Chapter 744: Chapter 744 There is nothing that is omnipotent_1
Nathaniel Summers’s eyes slightly narrowed, and the corners of his lips hardly perceptible curled upwards.
“You didn’t go to the casino last Saturday,” Nathaniel said. “I saw you with a lady. She had long hair, wore a pale blue sweater dress, and was leading a little boy, um… that boy bore some resemblance to you. Was he the young master?”
The middle-aged man’s facial expression froze, just like the two people before him, disbelief etched on his face.
His wife immediately grew furious, “Where exactly did you go last Saturday?! What woman? And what’s with that little boy?!”
The man’s eyes flashed panic, he frowned deeply as he explained to his wife, “What are you talking about? The third young master is just joking with me… isn’t that right, Third Young Master?”
Fearful of losing face, the man’s gaze urgently sought Nathaniel’s.
As Dylan Summers’ superior, naturally, Dylan did not wish to offend anyone in such a setting and played the peacemaker with a chuckle, “My third brother has a good sense of humor, haha, everyone, please don’t mind it… don’t mind it…”
Nathaniel sipped his drink leisurely and said with a smile, “Yes, I was only joking, madam, please don’t take it to heart.”
…Just joking?
No one believed it, as the middle-aged man had broken into a cold sweat clearly, and despite his attempts at disguise, that initial change in his demeanor could not be concealed. @@novelbin@@
His wife, though irritated, remained half-incredulous, not wanting to press too much during the reception.
The crowd whispered among themselves, and no one dared attempt the so-called Ghost Eyes lightly anymore…
Purple Summers stood not far away, quietly watching the scene. Her face was expressionless, but her heart kept sinking.
Allen Rivera approached her, asking, “Is this some kind of street magic?”
Purple sipped her drink lightly and said indifferently, “Perhaps it is.”
Allen took a special look at her, “You don’t seem interested?”
Purple replied, “I am quite clear about the past, there’s no need to ask about it from someone else’s mouth again.”
“I, on the other hand, am very interested,” Allen said, looking towards Nathaniel in the distance. “If Ghost Eyes really exist, it would certainly make interrogating criminals much easier.”
Purple couldn’t help but laugh, Allen was always focused on his work.
Jane McCain was excited, pulling Zara Jameson along to experience this wonder. But not having thought of any specific question to ask, she blurted out at random, “Can you tell which movie I watched last week? What did I have for dinner that day? How many marks did I get in the math test?”
Nathaniel responded with a smile, “Sorry, I can’t see all that.”
Jane looked disappointed, “So it’s not all-powerful…” She had thought Ghost Eyes knew everything.
Nathaniel let out a gentle sigh with a smile, “There is nothing omnipotent in this world.”
Jane and Zara walked away dejectedly.
…
Inside the banquet hall, Nathaniel was subtly ostracized by the guests—it was not an overt exclusion, but rather people would subconsciously steer clear of him wherever he went.
This exclusion did not stem from dislike.
It was born out of wariness or perhaps fear.
Everyone has secrets, and whether Nathaniel truly possessed Ghost Eyes or was merely bluffing, no one wanted to gamble with their own hidden truths.
Nathaniel appeared not the least bit concerned; he drank alone, serene and unaffected in the midst of the hall.
At that moment, a commotion came from outside.
It was the shrill shouting of a woman, piercing enough that not even the music inside the hall could drown it out.
The guests turned their heads to look outside.
The housekeeper was about to inquire when a group of women burst in, with several security guards from the Summers Residence trying to hold them back. However, wary of the fact that they were women, their actions were not very forceful.
“Where’s Yolanda Summers?! Call Yolanda Summers out!” a well-dressed woman at the center of the group demanded.
What do you think?
