Chapter 758: Chapter 758: Where Should She Go_1
Nathaniel Summers drove Purple Summers back.
Midway, he stopped the car on the side of the road, got out to buy two bottles of water, and handed one to Purple Summers.
Purple Summers took the water bottle in her hands but didn’t drink.
She wasn’t thirsty, and she had no appetite.
The moment she closed her eyes, she would see Evelyn Willard’s face, frothing at the mouth and turning a bluish purple.
Nathaniel twisted off the cap, producing a light clicking sound. As he drank, he watched Purple Summers’ expression, as if enjoying the most interesting sight.
...
“Are you satisfied?” Purple Summers didn’t look up but knew Nathaniel was watching her.
It was a kind of voyeurism full of malice, worse than schadenfreude, like peeling back someone’s wounds to let them bleed profusely and then savoring the sight of their pain.
“A little bit,” Nathaniel said lightly, smiling. “Before, whatever I said, you wouldn’t believe it and that hurt me. Now I understand that revealing the truth can indeed be pleasurable. It’s no wonder you like being a prosecutor.”
“That doesn’t prove anything,” Purple Summers said clutching the water bottle in her hand until her knuckles turned white. “Perhaps those two were Evelyn Willard’s enemies…”
Nathaniel laughed lowly, “What a coincidence that would be. Evelyn Willard lived here safely for over a month, and the day after you tell Alexander, someone comes to kill her. Quite the coincidence indeed.”
His words were laden with irony.
Purple Summers felt even colder inside as waves of icy chill surged up, threatening to engulf her completely.
But Nathaniel still wasn’t having enough fun, smiling as he asked her, “Want to try again?”
Purple Summers raised her head, glaring at him coldly.
Nathaniel’s lips curled up, his mood joyful, “Do you know how Laura Summers went mad? She saw your soul leaving your body, so Alexander had someone inject her with a psychiatric drug that made her appear mentally unclear. When you think about it, Alexander still has a bit of humanity, right? For the sake of blood ties, he at least spared Laura’s life.”
“What do you think he would do if I told him that Laura has recovered her sanity, and her memories of that night?” Nathaniel chuckled mischievously. “Would he kill Laura to put an end to the trouble? Perhaps I should set up a camera in advance to capture that exciting moment…”
“Enough!” Purple Summers couldn’t stand it anymore and shouted, “Enough! Stop talking!!!”
She threw the water bottle away and stormed out of the car, striding forward uncontrollably, not even bothering to figure out which direction lay ahead. @@novelbin@@
Nathaniel yanked her arm from behind, his voice fierce, “Do you understand now? We are the same! In front of Alexander, you and I are both victims, both puppets he plays with!”
Purple Summers’ mind was mired in mud; she could not think straight and only wanted to break free from Nathaniel!
“I hate you!” Purple Summers pushed him with force.
“Get a grip!” Nathaniel nearly roared. “It’s him who killed you! He switched the medicine in Jade Carlson’s hands, he had Mr. Ghost Hayes perform a ritual on you, he ruined both of us, the person you should hate is him! It’s Alexander!!!”
Purple Summers was overwhelmed with blood rushing to her head, unable to determine if it was rage or loathing, she broke free from Nathaniel’s grip, her entire body heaving for breath, unable to speak.
Nathaniel stared at her intently, enunciating each word, “The person you should hate is Alexander! He’s the real murderer!”
Purple Summers clenched her teeth hard, containing the roar in her throat, turned around, and left, fleeing in total disarray.
She walked aimlessly along the highway, not stopping, not knowing where to go, until the stars and night enveloped the world, and she realized she was lost in the city.
The cold wind blew, and Purple Summers felt a chill even in her bones.
A taxi, noticing her aimlessness, stopped beside her.
“Young lady, where to?”
Purple Summers opened her mouth, unsure of how to answer.
Indeed, where should she go?
What do you think?
