Alexander Summers promised Purple Summers that he would remove Nathaniel Summers’ hypnosis.

The original hypnotist had already returned overseas, and it took some effort for Alexander’s people to re-establish contact.

Recently he’d been busy taking care of Purple Summers and paid no attention to the Howard Family’s affairs, which perfectly portrayed a non-contending demeanor and greatly eased the minds of Damian Howard’s people.

Purple Summers asked Alexander Summers, “It’s been such a long time, is the hypnotist confident?”

“Confident or not, we won’t know until we try,” Alexander didn’t care about this matter at all. His only responsibility was to bring the person back, to give Purple Summers some peace of mind. As for Nathaniel’s fate, Alexander wasn’t interested.

The only warmth and tenderness in his heart were for her, the rest was all cold and hard.

Purple Summers pondered for a moment, then said, “I’ll go talk to Nathaniel.”

“What’s there to talk about?” Alexander frowned and said indifferently, “Just send someone to tell him. Whether he goes or not is up to him.”

“No, I must go myself,” Purple Summers grabbed Alexander’s hand, pleadingly said, “Trust me, I know my limits. This matter means something different to me.”

Alexander was irritable and, after a silent moment, said, “I’ll go with you.”

Purple Summers didn’t refuse; she knew Alexander didn’t want her to have too much contact with Nathaniel, but the thought of Alexander and Nathaniel meeting in person made her feel uneasy.

Would Nathaniel think Alexander was there to flaunt his power?

Bringing along his former woman, haughtily telling him that he could help lift the hypnosis—it certainly didn’t seem like a gesture of apology.

When they reached the staircase, Purple Summers asked Alexander to wait here for her and went to Nathaniel’s room alone.

Nathaniel’s room was actually the marriage house he once shared with Suzanne Saunders. She still remembered its luxurious elegance, a complete set of white oak furniture, a giant wedding photo of the two of them hanging on the wall, paired pillows on the bed, paired slippers underneath, and matching toothbrush cups and towels in the bathroom—all personally selected by Nathaniel.

Back then, he’d promised her the happiest life, but now everything had changed.

Purple Summers knocked gently on the door.

The door opened halfway, and Nathaniel stood behind it, wearing black silk pajamas. The satin reflected a cold light, giving him an air of decadent nobility and decline.

Nathaniel saw Purple Summers, and a flicker of surprise crossed the depths of his eyes.

“What are you here for?” he asked.

Purple Summers made her voice as calm as possible, “The psychiatrist who hypnotized you originally has been found. If you agree, I’d like to arrange a meeting for you, so he can lift the hypnosis.”

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow slightly, a mocking smile appearing at the corner of his mouth, “Alexander’s arrangement?”

There was nothing to deny, and Purple Summers nodded.

“How can I be sure this isn’t one of his tricks?” Nathaniel’s voice was cold and sarcastic, “Maybe he wants to hypnotize me again?”

Honestly, given Alexander’s malicious nature, he quite possibly could hypnotize Nathaniel again. In this regard, Alexander truly had a notorious record, leaving even Purple Summers unable to confidently rebut.

Purple Summers pursed her lips tightly and took a silent breath.

“It won’t be,” she suppressed all emotion and said tranquilly, “he has already got what he wanted; there’s no need to do that anymore.”

Alexander’s actions were just to snatch a woman, and now that he had achieved his goal, there was no need to make things difficult for Nathaniel anymore.

This was the truth.

But to Nathaniel’s ears, it sounded exceedingly harsh, as if mocking his past helplessness and incompetence.

Nathaniel stepped back half a step and opened the door a bit wider, saying, “Come in and talk, then.”
