Chapter 783: Chapter 783 Compromise_1
In the past, Alexander Summers was very busy.
So busy that often he wouldn’t be seen for days on end, and for this, he had to lie to Atra Blanc, claiming he was on a business trip out of town.
On the rare occasions he did come back for a few days, it was already quite special, let alone now when he had nothing to do but accompany Purple Summers with her winter break homework—it was as if the sun had risen from the west.
Alexander Summers brushed aside the hair on her face and said, “I will be very idle in the future.”
“Why?” Purple Summers asked.
“Several great-uncles in the family are preparing a grand retirees meeting for me,” Alexander Summers played with a strand of her hair, finding it cool, smooth, and soft, quite amusing.
Purple Summers, puzzled, asked, “What is a retirees meeting?”
Alexander Summers explained to her, “You can think of it as… a form of ‘washing one’s hands of the old life’, completely breaking away from the Howard Family to start a new one, and from then on, there will no longer be a Roy Howard in this world.”
A stirring of excitement touched Purple Summers’ heart, and she tentatively asked, “Does that mean you will be turning over a new leaf from now on?”
No longer committing murder or engaging in unlawful and indisciplined acts?
“Yeah,” Alexander Summers teased her deliberately, cupping her small face and nibbling her soft and bouncy cheek, laughing, “I’ve renounced my evil ways and from now on, I will be a law-abiding good citizen. Please, Prosecutor, supervise me closely.”
Purple Summers was truly delighted, her smile irrepressible, her bright eyes turning with immense happiness and joy.
“Are you serious about all this?” Purple Summers happily wrapped her arms around his neck, “They won’t give you any trouble? What about Damian Howard, and all your past enemies, are they all no problem anymore?”
“Don’t worry, I will handle it,” Alexander Summers, with his arm around her waist, glanced at the homework on the carpet, “Have you finished your homework?”
“Winter break homework, how could it be finished that quickly? Let’s do it tomorrow.” Purple Summers was in a good mood, clinging affectionately to him, no longer in the mood for homework.
Seeing her so happy, Alexander Summers felt a bitter sweetness in his heart.
In all this time, Purple Summers had never laughed. Either she was heavily burdened with worries, or she was shrouded in melancholy, even when she kissed him, her eyes held back tears.
Alexander Summers hadn’t realized that his actions had caused her such great pain.
…He should have seen it coming; it’s just that at the time, the thought of possessing her overpowered everything else.
Alexander Summers, holding Purple Summers, stood up and walked toward the bedroom upstairs.
Purple Summers was slightly taken aback, “What are you doing?”
“Did you think turning from evil to good would be easy?” Alexander Summers’ mouth curled into a playful smile, mischievously, “A goddess must purify me regularly.”
“…” Purple Summers stayed quiet, biting her lip, stealthily reaching to pinch his waist.
Alexander Summers laughed out loud, “My waist is strong! Pinch as much as you like!”
Feeling frustrated, Purple Summers was nevertheless infected by his laughter and started laughing along, foolishly.
…
Sweet days always feel so fleeting. As New Year’s approached, Dylan Summers played peacemaker and invited the two brothers out for a reunion dinner.
That was typical of Dylan Summers.
If it were just a fight, that would be one thing, but this time Alexander Summers was moving out of the house, completely severing ties with the Summers Family,
Alexander Summers was relieved, but Dylan, caring about appearances, didn’t want others to know his brothers were at odds, as it would be a loss of face.
With the goal of turning big issues into small ones and small issues into nothing at all, Dylan Summers specifically booked a private room at the restaurant and brought along Yolanda Summers and Laura Summers as well.
Atra Blanc wouldn’t go. Nathaniel Summers’ biological mother had tormented Atra Blanc tremendously back in the day; sitting together would only remind Alexander Summers of old grievances.
As a director-general, Dylan Summers knew how to gauge the situation just right.
Purple Summers also wanted to go, but Alexander Summers didn’t allow it.
He didn’t give Purple Summers the slightest chance to see Nathaniel, but he also didn’t feel comfortable leaving her alone in the mountain villa. Purple Summers thought of a compromise—
“I won’t go in, I’ll just wait for you in the car, okay?”
What do you think?
