Chapter 874: Chapter 874 Actually a Bit Happy_1

Purple Summers’s skin was slightly cool to the touch, soft and delicate in his hand, like cool, smooth jade, and also like soft silk.

Some strange thoughts bubbled up in his mind, making Nathaniel Summers restless, but when he caught Purple Summers’s puzzled and scrutinizing gaze, he suddenly snapped back to reality, remembering how the woman before him had betrayed him and thrown herself into the arms of another man.

A surge of hatred and loathing roiled within him, and Nathaniel’s expression grew even colder, his eyes frosty.

“Has it started yet?” Purple Summers fixed her gaze on him, her eyes filled with both confusion and caution.

“Yes, you can close your eyes now,” said Nathaniel coolly. “Focus on Atra Blanc and where she might be.”

Purple Summers cooperated and did as he said.

But Nathaniel had only said to close her eyes, not when to open them.

Purple Summers, unfamiliar with the taboos of these dark arts, waited anxiously for a long time but heard not a word from Nathaniel. After a while, her arms grew sore and numb.

As she hesitated whether to open her eyes or to speak up, Nathaniel suddenly murmured, “We could actually start over, couldn’t we? Jade Carlson is dead, Alexander Summers is dead, all the obstacles between us no longer exist. Why can’t we start over? We should start over…”

Purple Summers’s eyes snapped open!

“Nathaniel! Don’t entrap yourself; it’s impossible between us!” Purple Summers said. “Let me go, and let yourself go! You’ve always just been unwilling to accept it!”

Nathaniel suddenly gripped Purple Summers’s hands tightly and drew her into his embrace.

A feeling of alarm surged in Purple Summers’s heart! Almost instinctively, she pulled out her gun and pressed it against Nathaniel’s abdomen in the moment she was engulfed in his arms.

That cold, hard muzzle stood between them, and Purple Summers believed Nathaniel could feel it.

But he didn’t move, still holding her tightly.

Purple Summers didn’t move either; she didn’t want to pull the trigger.

She knew that both she and Alexander were responsible for driving Nathaniel to this point—they owed him, and she did not wish to take Nathaniel’s life as well!

“Nathaniel, what stands between you and me isn’t Jade Carlson or Alexander Summers; it’s deceit and life and death!” Purple Summers gritted her teeth and took a deep breath, striving to make her voice sound clear and calm. “I can’t forgive deceit, and I can’t bear life and death. We will never be possible!”

Nathaniel held her, feeling her body tense.

He thought to himself: What a hateful woman.

He hated her as a person, and even more, he hated that she never gave him a chance. The agonizing pain gnawed at his being, every breath he took was an indescribable torture!

She was too hateful.

“Do you know…” Nathaniel whispered into her ear, “at that time, I was actually a bit happy.”

The faint, elegant fragrance of her hair wafted around him, seeming to alleviate the pain in his body. Nathaniel spoke softly, “Jade said that you committed suicide for me, to get the insurance money to help me through hard times… I knew it wasn’t possible, but still, I couldn’t help but feel happy when hearing her say that. If that were true, how wonderful it would be.”

If in this world, someone would truly die for you, you would be in pain, but you would also savour that pain, you’d become addicted to it.

Nathaniel’s breathing grew heavy, and the strength with which he confined her increased. “But you came back to life, and I could no longer deceive myself…”

Purple Summers’s hand gripping the gun was sweating, her palm moist.

She hesitated whether to pull the trigger, but then Nathaniel suddenly released her.

Purple Summers didn’t linger, she decisively turned and walked away.

“Atra Blanc is in Lifepulse Hospital.” Nathaniel blew out the candle, and the living room plunged into darkness, his voice especially cold. “I don’t know the exact location, I just saw her lying on a hospital bed, with ‘Lifepulse Hospital’ written on the medical chart.”

Purple Summers faced away from Nathaniel, “Thank you.”

She opened the door and walked out.
