From Beast Abilities to Sect Grand Master

"Line up! Archers get ready! Shields up front!" Lee shouted at his men, and they followed his instructions.

The soldiers holding huge shields as tall as an adult went up to the front.

In front of them were the men in robes.

They advanced on their horses and thrust their swords at the soldiers.

Whoosh.

Swaths of twirling wind shot at the shields.

But the shields glowed, and a white glowing wall appeared.

Thud.

The twirling wind tried to drill through the white glowing wall but couldn't.

All it did was to make loud thuds.

The men in robes were now few meters away and the gaps between the shields opened a bit.

Out of the small gaps, tips of long spears appeared and thrust at the men in robes.

The spears sent out Qi waves and when the Qi waves hit the horses, it made them fall.

Bringing down the men in robes with them.

"Try not to kill all of them. Captain Lu Ding wants some of them captured."

Lee shouted and his troops advanced with those holding shields and long spears at the front.

The men in robes trapped under the bodies of their horses struggled to get away but couldn't.

"Argh!"

One by one, they were picked off by the long spears.

Surprisingly, those behind these fallen men in robes didn't blink when they charged with their horses.

Even if it would cause them to die.

Most of these fallen men didn't even resist when they got trampled over.

This caught the soldiers holding their shields by surprise and their line was broken when some of the men in robes charged through.

Whoosh.

Large swaths of twirling wind were immediately unleashed onto the soldiers.

It ripped apart the bodies of the soldiers that were caught.

"Help me!"

"What shall we do?"

Lee's soldiers panicked as they saw the carnage that was in front of their eyes.

"Get back into formation! Work together!"

Lee shouted at his men and led his close guards with him to battle with the men in robes.

His commands knocked some sense into his soldiers and their muscle memory took over.

Some picked up the shields on the ground, some with their swords teamed up with those with swords.

Archers shot at will at the men in robes.

Boom.

Explosions ensued after the arrows hit.

Without any armor, the men in robes were no match for the arrows that had scriptures on them.

Once they fell from the horses due to being hit by the arrows or when they were dodging, the men in robes were picked off by the soldiers with their swords.

The leader of the men in robes watched what transpired and he glanced over at Hai Tao.

It was time for him to complete the mission.

"Follow me!" He shouted and the remaining men in robes rallied around him.

They turned and charged towards Hai Tao.

Lee quickly ordered his men to go after them.

Soon, the men in robes clashed with the close guards of Hai Tao.

However, Lee had to stop and deal with the Hulu Tribe soldiers that were coming at him from behind.

Things had gone awry, and he was not in the best situation.

"Protect the Captain!" The close guards shouted at the soldiers but there weren't any left around.

Splatter.

All around, there were only sounds of flesh ripped apart and the thick stench of blood that was in the air and soaking through the soil of the plains.

The soldiers had been obliterated by the twirling wind that the men in robes unleashed.

Having no other choice, the close guards faced the men in robes head on.

Thud.

The armor of the close guards glowed as the twirling wind tried to drill into the armor and body of the close guards.

It couldn't do so, and loud thuds could be heard in the surroundings.

Having better graded armor saved their lives.

But to their surprise these men in robes weren't bothered and they took out jade pendants in their hands.

Crack.

Breaking the jade pendants, their bodies glowed and started to bloat up.

Not knowing what to expect, the close guards tried to poke at the bloated bodies of the men in robes.

Bam!

The bodies exploded and the flesh and bones of the men in robes became shrapnel that shot into the bodies of the close guards.

Even their graded armor wasn't enough to withstand the explosion from the bloated bodies.

"Captain, we got to make a run for it now." His remaining close guard grabbed Hai Tao by his arm and tried to force him to turn back.

It was, however, too late as soon he was surrounded by men in robes.

The leader of the men in robes came up to Hai Tao and gave out a smirk.

Hai Tao held his breath as he saw the men move closer.

Finally, the man put his mouth next to Hai Tao's and whispered.

"Run. Go back and tell what had happened here. Tell everyone how the Qing Feng Sect betrayed the Quan Dynasty."

"What? What do you want…." Hai Tao was confused at first when he heard what the leader of these 'Qing Feng Sect' disciples wanted.

All the different possibilities went through his mind.

The Qing Feng Sect really betrayed the Quan Dynasty?

Were these men from the Hulu Tribe trying to sow discord between Qing Feng Sect and the Emperor?

Or was it the Emperor….

Finally, when the unthinkable went through Hai Tao's mind, his eyes opened wide and his mouth opened in astonishment.

The leader of the men in robes nodded and patted him on his shoulder.

He then kicked on the back of the horse that Hai Tao was on.

Neigh!

The horse cried out and galloped away.

Bringing the shocked Hai Tao on its back.

The remaining men in robes, including the leader, looked on as they took out jade pendants.

Together they broke the jade pendants, and their bodies started to bloat.

"Someone save us!"

"Captain had run away, let's retreat!"

"Captain Lu Ding help."

Hai Tao's remaining soldiers cried out for help as they were slowly overrun by the Hulu Tribe troops.

Lu Ding was still fighting in the middle of the battlefield.

Three figures on their horses came galloping fast and one of them held up something in his hand.

"Stop!" Lin Fan shouted as he raised his hand.
