"That's it? Nothing else?" The Emperor put down the piece of paper in his hands on the table and asked the young eunuch who was kneeling in front of him.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I came as soon as I got the message from the front line." The eunuch said, and drops of sweat dripped onto the ground from his forehead.

Taking a deep breath, he tried his best to control his body from shaking.

Upon hearing this, the Emperor slammed his palm onto the table.

Teacups nearly fell onto the ground, the chief eunuch who was standing beside the Emperor quickly grabbed hold of them before they could fall and break into pieces.

Which would be considered a bad omen.

After placing the teacups back onto the table, he waved the young eunuch away.

"What's this supposed to mean? Did your men fail? Why didn't Lu Ding mention any of it in his message?"

"Your Majesty, in the battlefield anything could have happened. I'm sure my men would have let Captain Hai Tao or Captain Ye Sheng back to spread the word."

The chief eunuch knelt and tried to pacify the Emperor.

But it was not enough.

He felt a kick to his face, and he fell to the back, on his back.

"Useless fool! Did you know that all the money used to make those artifacts was out from my own pocket! That old fool, the Left Prime Minister would bark if I touched the treasury."

"I'm sorry, Your Majesty… I will get my men to find Captain Hai Tao and Captain Ye Sheng as soon as possible."

"Wait. Find the Right Prime Minister, Foo Hai. He should be interested in Hai Tao's promotion to general. After all, Hai Tao is his son-in-law." The Emperor walked back and sat down.

Right now, if what Lu Ding reported was true, Hai Tao and Ye Sheng don't have any chance at all.

Ye Sheng was his preferred choice; he would be able to keep everything in the family.

When Lin Fan, Ho Ming and Zhang Yi Nian returned to the sect, the first thing they did was to report on what had happened.

Lin Fan, with a bracelet that the fake Qing Feng Sect disciples used in his hands, passed it over to Zhao Qing Ying.

Ho Ming, who had one on his wrist proceeded to demonstrate what the artifact could do.

He injected his Qi into the bracelet and thrust his sword.

A twirling wind shot out of his sword.

The swords hanging above them shook violently and rattled, the twirling wind quickly dissipated soon after.

Deadly aura from the swords was enough to make it disappear.

Zhao Qing Ying looked down at the bracelet in his hands with a frown.

After trying to find something from it and failing to do so, he threw the bracelet over to Han Dang.

Han Dang caught the bracelet in the air and inspected it carefully.

When after a few moments, and he couldn't figure out much, he took out a stone from his sleeve.

"This is the Nine Heavens Detection Stone, able to detect what the artifact was imbued with. That should give us a clue on who made the artifact."

Han Dang explained to the others and he injected his Qi into the Nine Heavens Detection Stone.

The stone shone brightly in a blue glow, and the light moved around like tentacles, started to reach for the bracelet.

And after the light tentacle came into contact with the bracelet, a gust of wind swirled out of the bracelet.

An imagery of a mountain appeared in the stone, everyone looked at it and tried to recognize which mountain it was.

Lin Fan and the others came up blank.

It wasn't any place they had been before.

All but Han Dang at least.

The glow of the stone went away, and everything went back to normal.

"Huh. I know where this is, and who might have made these." Han Dang said with confidence.

Zhao Ming Ye wasn't pleased and said, "Hurry up and tell us the answer. We got to be quick."

Han Dang wanted to argue back but Lin Fan interjected.

"Peak Lord, it's true, if we don't get to whoever made these artifacts, it might be too late for us.

"We would have no way to prove our innocence if that person died.

"The Emperor will come looking for us soon.

"Then it would be an all-out war between Qing Feng Sect and the Quan Dynasty."

Zhao Qing Ying nodded, although he also didn't like the Emperor, he also didn't want unnecessary deaths to happen to all the disciples.
