From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals

Chapter 624 Slotted Sparring Match

"Shit," Ty muttered, watching Yun-Jin and Rosana waiting at the exit. Both had their arms crossed, their gazes fixed on him. He sighed, reluctantly getting to his feet. Whatever was coming, it wasn't going to be easy—not with these two ready to face off, and definitely not with Waddle knowing more than he should.

He forced a smile and strode toward them, his black cuffs feeling heavier than ever. Whatever was going on, he would deal with it head-on—for now, at least.

As Ty followed both Yun-Jin and Rosana out, he couldn't help but notice the increased number of guards lining the corridors. The air seemed heavier with their presence, their rigid stances a reminder of the heightened security measures. The usual dim light flickered above, casting long shadows across the stony hallway as their boots echoed down the corridor. It wasn't long before two guards stepped in front of them, blocking their path.

"Hey, what is going on here?" one of them asked, his voice carrying a tone that was both cautious and curious. His hand rested loosely on the hilt of his sheathed weapon, eyes darting between Ty, Rosana, and Yun-Jin.

Yun-Jin offered a polite nod, her expression unwavering. "I'm transporting my sponsor for a training protocol, and this other individual as well, in the absence of her sponsor," she said smoothly, her voice clear but firm. "I will ensure that both are handled correctly, and once the session is completed, they will be returned to their cells as required."

The guard scrutinized her for a moment, then nodded. "Sounds good, but you'll still need an escort of two guards due to the current maximum security level." He glanced at his partner before turning his gaze back to her. "Also, we've received word that there is a broadcast planned for anywhere from fifteen minutes to four hours from now, so be ready to return at a moment's notice."

Yun-Jin perked up slightly at the mention of a broadcast, a flicker of curiosity passing through her eyes. She inclined her head politely. "Thank you, understood." The guards stepped aside, and she led the way forward, with Ty and Rosana following, and now with two additional escorts trailing behind them.

The walk to the training room took about ten minutes, the atmosphere thick with an unspoken tension. Ty could hear the shuffling feet of the guards behind them and felt the weight of the cuffs around his wrists, each step reminding him of the restrictions of this place. The halls were lined with walls of dark stone, every crack and crevice telling a story of countless years, countless struggles. The silence, broken only by their footfalls, felt almost oppressive.

As they finally reached the doors of the training room, Yun-Jin pressed a small button, and the steel doors slid open with a faint hiss. Ty stepped in first, and his eyes widened as he let out a low whistle. "Wow, this is something else," he muttered, his voice echoing slightly in the vast chamber. The training room was an expanse that defied his expectations. The floor was a polished, obsidian-like material that gleamed under the bright white lights set high above. Various terrains were sectioned off in different parts of the massive room—a sandy pit to the far left, reminiscent of a desert environment, complete with scattered stones and uneven footing. There was a patch of dense underbrush on the right, tall grass and shrubs, with artificial trees reaching toward the ceiling. An area in the middle was covered with mat-like flooring, clearly intended for close combat.

Weapons of all kinds were mounted neatly along the walls—swords of different shapes and sizes, spears, staves, shields, and even stranger items that seemed more experimental. A series of automated dummies were positioned across from a row of targeting mannequins, some humanoid, others designed to mimic beasts, their mechanical eyes glowing faintly as they waited to be activated.

High above, the ceiling was laced with metallic beams and overhead rails, from which various obstacles and harnesses hung, giving the impression that this room could be transformed depending on the kind of training desired. Ty could see pulleys, ropes, and hanging targets suspended from the ceiling, swaying gently, adding a subtle motion to the otherwise still room.

Rosana gave a low chuckle. "Fancy, isn't it?" she said, her eyes scanning the terrain options with interest. "Makes the arenas back home look like children's playrooms."

Yun-Jin folded her arms, her gaze roaming the impressive space, her expression thoughtful. "It's designed to simulate multiple environments. It's one of the most advanced facilities we have access to—the perfect place to train for anything." She turned her eyes to Rosana, a subtle challenge reflected in her stare.

Rosana, catching Yun-Jin's look, grinned. "So, where do you want to do this, then? The mat, the sand pit, or shall we go for something a little more unpredictable?" She gestured towards the dense underbrush, her fox-like ears twitching slightly, betraying her readiness.

Yun-Jin gave a confident smile, her eyes challenging. "You can pick whatever you want, I'll kick your ass regardless," she stated, her voice carrying a sense of unwavering determination.

Rosana arched an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Oh yeah, is that so?" She gestured toward the different terrains available. "Well then, let's walk over to the simulated Forest zone. It's honestly not a bad size!" She paused, then added, "Any limits?"

Yun-Jin shrugged, her expression unchanged. "Yes; once you've received three hits, the sparring session ends, and the guards take you back to your cell to wait for stage two." Unlocking her cuffs, Yun-Jin added, "And what happens when I win?"@@novelbin@@

Rosana smirked, her fox-like ears twitching slightly. "Well, when the impossible doesn't happen, then I'll give you a secret."

"A secret?" Yun-Jin tilted her head, considering. "Sounds a bit boring, but I'll take it, I suppose."

Ty, watching the interaction, gave a small chuckle. "I guess I'll just sit back and watch. Guards, wanna watch with me?"

The guards accompanying them exchanged a glance, then shrugged. One of them unlocked Ty's cuffs. "Sure," one guard said, grabbing a couple of chairs as they all headed toward the forest simulation area.
