From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals

Chapter 677: Clashed Steels

Ty stopped abruptly and placed a reassuring hand on JJ’s head, his touch surprisingly gentle. "You’ve done great up until now," he said, his voice steady. "Thanks for handling everything while I was stuck in the first stages."

JJ blinked, caught off guard by the rare moment of vulnerability in his tone. "You’re not so bad yourself," she said, her lips quirking into a faint smile. "Now let’s go."

Entering the Control Room:

The staircase led to a wide, arched doorway guarded by two heavily armed soldiers. Ty and JJ moved like shadows, dispatching them swiftly and silently. As the guards slumped to the floor, Ty crouched to retrieve a keycard from one of their belts, holding it up with a smirk. "Looks like we’re in."

The control room beyond the door was vast, lined with rows of glowing monitors and towering machines. The faint hum of servers filled the space, and a central console bathed the room in an eerie blue light. JJ scanned the screens, her eyes narrowing as she processed the data. "There," she said, pointing to a monitor. "That’s Rui’s cell. It’s two levels below us. The security system here controls the locks."

Ty nodded, already moving to the console. As he worked to bypass the encryption, JJ grabbed a nearby radio and switched it to the Black Bulls’ frequency. "Hey," she called, her voice low but urgent. "We’ve located where Rui’s being held. How are you all doing right now?"

A moment of static followed before Osalf’s voice crackled through. His tone was calm but edged with tension. "Good. We’ve secured some backup support from additional members for this assault. Thanks to the teleporting tech Gears brought, it was easy to get them here."

JJ and Ty exchanged a glance as Osalf continued. "We’ll try to draw the King and his guards out, cause a distraction. Your priority is getting Rui. And if you can, figure out a way to get that coin away from the King. That’s the top objective."

Ty frowned, his fingers pausing over the console. "Try not to engage too much," he said, his voice steady but firm. "If that coin was given by a higher being, you have no hope of beating him right now."

"We’ll keep that in mind," Osalf replied after a pause. "Focus on getting him out first."

Ty finished overriding the system, the console flashing green as the locks on Rui’s cell disengaged. "Done," he said, stepping back. "Let’s move."

The room ahead was stark and cold. Chains rattled faintly in the stillness, the sound barely masking Rui’s labored breathing. His body hung limp, suspended by black metal chains fastened to the walls. Cuts and bruises marred his arms and torso, his clothing tattered and soaked with blood. His head lolled forward, but he managed to lift it slightly as Ty and JJ entered.

"You shouldn’t be here," Rui rasped, his voice hoarse and broken. "Leave. It’s a trap."

JJ ignored his warning, her hands reaching for the chains. "We came to get you out," she said sharply, her tone carrying a mixture of determination and anger. "Hold still."

Rui’s eyes widened, panic breaking through his exhaustion. "No! Don’t touch—"

Ty stepped forward, brushing past JJ to inspect the bindings. "There’s no time to argue," he muttered. "We have to—"

The faint click beneath his foot stopped him mid-sentence.

The air seemed to shift, the stillness replaced by a low rumble that quickly built into a deafening roar. Before Ty or JJ could react, black stone blocks shot out from the walls, ceiling, and floor, moving with terrifying speed. They closed in like a coordinated attack, their jagged edges slicing through the air.

"Move!" Ty shouted, raising his hand as black flames surged forward to intercept the blocks. The first wave disintegrated on contact, the fire burning fiercely. But as more blocks came, the flames flickered and dimmed, their strength visibly weakening.

JJ ducked under a cluster of blocks that smashed into the wall behind her. "Ty!" she yelled, her voice strained. "They’re draining your power!"

Ty gritted his teeth, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. "No kidding!" he snapped, his legs buckling slightly as another barrage of blocks pushed him back. The flames in his hand sputtered before vanishing entirely, leaving him vulnerable.

"They’re coated with something," he muttered, shaking his hand in frustration. "It’s cutting me off."

JJ lunged toward Rui, dodging another block as it shot past her. "I’ll get him out!" she called, grabbing at the chains. Her hands slipped against the cold metal, but she refused to stop. "Just keep them off me!"

Ty stumbled, the numbing cold of the black blocks seeping into his limbs. He staggered back, his breathing ragged as the blocks began to encircle them. "I’m trying!"

The clinking of boots against stone cut through the chaos. A shadow fell across the room as General Omina stepped into view, her movements deliberate and calm. Her dark cloak billowed slightly as she advanced, the light catching the polished edges of her armor. The guards flanking her moved into position, forming a wide circle around the room.

"So predictable," Omina said, her voice steady and cold. She surveyed the scene, her piercing gaze settling on Ty and JJ. "I expected more from you."

Ty ripped the earpiece from his ear, Osalf’s voice fading into static as he tossed it under Rui. "This is gonna get messy," he muttered, clenching his fists.

In the back of his mind, the creature stirred, its voice dripping with malice. "Messy, indeed. But no, I won’t help you. The sooner you’re beaten, the sooner I get control. Just try not to damage any vital organs when you die."

Ty clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Omina. "Guess I’ll have to do this myself."

Omina’s expression didn’t waver. She raised a hand, her movements calm and deliberate. The blocks around them shifted, moving like a living wall as they closed in tighter. "This ends here," she said simply, her voice carrying the weight of absolute authority.

Her guards moved as one, their weapons gleaming with a faint green light. Omina stepped forward, her aura crackling with energy. "Do you even understand the forces you’ve defied?" she asked, her tone almost pitying.

Ty’s flames sputtered back to life, weak and unsteady, but still burning. "I understand enough," he growled. "And I’m not going down without a fight."

Omina’s lips curved into a faint, mocking smile. "Good. I was hoping you’d say that."

The air was electric with tension as Ty stood tall, his flames dancing around him in chaotic swirls of black energy. General Omina motioned with a single hand, and her soldiers began to close in, each moving with a purpose that betrayed more than just martial training.

"Don’t waste your breath on these fools," Ty called to JJ as she worked on Rui’s chains. "I’ve got this."

Omina’s soldiers stepped forward, each one activating a unique skill. The first soldier’s skin gleamed metallic, his entire body rippling as if molten iron coursed through him. With every step, the ground dented beneath his weight. His inward skill allowed him to absorb kinetic energy and redirect it as explosive force. As he approached, his hand glowed red-hot, ready to unleash a devastating strike.

Ty grinned. "Oh, that’s cute."

The soldier lunged forward, slamming his molten fist toward Ty’s chest. Ty stepped to the side at the last second, twisting his body to evade the blow while conjuring a sphere of flames in his palm. "Let’s see how much heat you can take," he quipped, hurling the fireball directly at the soldier. The molten man absorbed the hit, laughing.

"Not enough," Ty murmured. He snapped his fingers, and the flames he’d thrown detonated into a spiraling cage of black fire. The soldier screamed as the intense energy sapped his control, his molten form solidifying into brittle iron. One kick from Ty sent him shattering like glass.

The next opponent advanced immediately, their outward skill manifesting as a swarm of jagged, crystal-like shards orbiting their body. The crystals emitted sharp, high-pitched tones, each pulse sending invisible sonic waves outward. Ty staggered briefly as the sound waves distorted his senses.

"Annoying," Ty muttered. He pressed his hands together, conjuring a spiral of black flames that coiled tightly around his ears, muffling the sound. As the crystals shot toward him like projectiles, Ty twisted his flames into a whip and lashed out, shattering the shards mid-flight. With a flick of his wrist, the whip wrapped around the soldier’s neck, pulling them off their feet and sending them crashing into the ground.

JJ Works While Chaos Erupts

"Stop squirming, Rui," JJ hissed as she carefully worked at the chains holding him. Her hands were steady despite the explosions and roaring flames behind her. Rui coughed weakly, shaking his head.

"You don’t... understand," he muttered, his voice hoarse. "They won’t stop. Omina—she won’t stop." Ugh.. I... I need..
