Chapter 1012
Chapter 1012: 475 Carnival (Second update)_1 Chapter 1012: 475 Carnival (Second update)_1 At three in the afternoon, the commotion continued with more people joining in, turning the internet into a paradise for trolls.
It was nothing short of a complete fiasco.
All the while, Aubree remained silent.
Her silence, however, was like a form of admission, which only further emboldened the crowd.
At four o’clock, a large truck drove up, and the crowd reluctantly made way.
The truck stopped in front of the police department, and a few workers climbed out from the truck bed, carrying a huge box.
The crowd watched with some bewilderment.
...
However, they watched as the workers set the box in front of the entrance of the police department, then began to set up the contents seemingly oblivious to the crowd around them.
To everyone’s astonishment, upon opening the box, it turned out to be an incredibly large TV, easily over a hundred inches by estimation.
The workers were quick and efficient, installing the TV and connecting the wires in less than twenty minutes, and soon, the TV was powered on.
The TV was placed right at the entrance, using a curved display to ensure a clear view from any angle.
Belleann Hutton became anxious, “What are they doing?”
A tall female officer in crisp police uniform emerged from the police department.
The moment she appeared, there was a brief moment of silence in the crowd.
The female officer smiled and said, “We’ve got your demands, and our captain is now aware.
It’s rough, being out here in the cold weather.”
“Enough of your smooth talk, we demand to see your chief!
If you don’t give us an answer, that means you’re covering for a murderer!” Belleann led the protest.
The female officer narrowed her eyes, looking at Belleann.
Belleann suddenly felt a chill down her spine, but she squared her shoulders – what was there to fear in broad daylight?
“Right, we won’t be fobbed off,” someone chimed in from the crowd.
Connie waved a hand, gesturing for everyone to quiet down.
“I’m not sure how all of you concluded that Aubree is a murderer.
Is it because of some anonymous posts online?
Did the poster witness Aubree committing the murder himself?”
“You’re still defending her.
None of you police are decent, all covering for a murderer!” Belleann shot back emphatically.
“Strictly punish the murderer Aubree, strictly punish the murderer Aubree…!”
The crowd chanted along, creating a spectacular scene.
Connie had never been so speechless.
Did these people lack reasoning?
Parroting what others say without any thought – acting on every whisper?
She didn’t feel like wasting time arguing with them as it was pointless.
Everyone seemed to be living in their own world – they were either being deliberately obtuse or just plain bad characters.
Anyway, their faces would be slapped soon enough, and she wondered what they’d have to say then.
“Okay, since you all insist, I’ll cut to the chase.
It’s now four fifty.
At six-thirty, we’ll be watching a live broadcast.
There’s still quite some time, so everyone should probably go eat dinner.
It’s not worth ruining your health over this in such cold weather.”
Connie’s tone was incredibly gentle, but anyone with a brain could tell she was being sarcastic, and soon enough, even the pretty policewoman was detested.
Belleann approached Xenia, “Bella, what should we do next?”
Xenia stared at the absurdly large TV, her eyes flashing with uncertainty.
“What kind of game are they playing?” Knowing Aubree, she’d never throw in the towel so quickly.
If the public opinion couldn’t suppress her, what tricks could she possibly have up her sleeve?
A live broadcast?
What kind of broadcast?
Something felt off to Xenia, and Belleann was still urging her on the side.
Annoyed, Xenia snapped, “Why are you in such a hurry?
Planning on being reincarnated sooner?”
Belleann choked on her reply, giving Xenia a wronged look.
After contemplating for a moment, Xenia dialed Jenny Linggo’s number.
“Miss Linggo, don’t you have connections in The Rintos?
What are they planning?
What’s this about a live broadcast?”
Jenny sounded a little flustered, “What broadcast?”
“There’s a large TV set up at the police station entrance, and they said that there will be a live broadcast at six-thirty.
Is this their way of handling the situation?
You don’t find this odd?”
Jenny uttered an ‘oh’, “What’s there to fear?
The public opinion is in our favor.
She’ll never get back on her feet.
As long as she falls from grace, that’s enough.
As for truly toppling her, you’re too naïve.
With The Rintos backing her, she’ll never fall.”
“I think the naïve one here is Miss Linggo.
Aubree excels in turning the tables with silence and stillness.
She hasn’t said a word to clear her name since the incident occurred, and that’s already a red flag.
If things really go wrong, will Ms.
Hayes still be able to protect us?”
The only reason she had gone along with it in the first place was Jenny’s assurance that Silvia Hayes would have their backs if things went south.
Now things were clearly wrong, she didn’t think Silvia Hayes held a higher status than Aubree Groove in Agave Rinto’s eyes.
Jenny Linggo was indignant: “Silvia Hayes is Master McKay’s cousin.
They have grown up together and their bond is no ordinary one.
Who are you to question it?
Xenia Groove, remember, you are now as popular as a rat in the street.
I’m giving you this opportunity out of pity, don’t make the mistake of not knowing when you’re fortunate.”
She hung up the phone immediately.
Xenia Groove’s eyes were dark and she cursed, “What the hell.”
On the other hand, Jenny Linggo, who had hung up the phone, began to dial Silvia Hayes’s number but was unable to get through.
Since last night, Silvia Hayes had lost contact.
She was panicking, could something have happened to Silvia Hayes?
Nothing had happened to Silvia Hayes, but she was having a hard time.
Because she was locked up at home, with two people standing guard at the door, not allowing her to go out.
All signals inside the house were blocked, there was no internet and she couldn’t make any calls.
Silvia Hayes was about to go crazy.
When she opened the door, two men in black, with stern faces, faithfully blocked her way.
“You are infringing upon my personal freedom, which is unlawful, step aside!”
Neither of them spoke, and they didn’t move an inch.
Silvia Hayes took out a small knife and put it to her throat: “Are you going to move or not?”
“Ms.
Hayes, Master McKay invites you.
Let’s go,” Finnian Moore said with a half-lowered car window, turning his head and saying with a smirk.
Silvia Hayes gritted her teeth.
Now even Finnian Moore dared to disrespect her.
After Silvia Hayes got into the car, she realized that the car was not going to the Rintos’ Manor, but to the Cultural Relics Research Institute.
“Where is my cousin?”
“Don’t worry, Ms.
Hayes.
Master McKay is waiting for you inside.”
This was Silvia Hayes’ first visit to the Cultural Relics Research Institute.
The institute was not large and had several parked cars.
One of the cars had the words ‘Pethkids TV Station’ on it.
Silvia Hayes was more puzzled.
Finnian Moore led her onto a small path.
Another car drove in, and she instinctively turned her head, only to see Aubree Groove getting out of the car.
Silvia Hayes’ pupils contracted, and her hands hanging by her sides clenched slightly.
Then Anton Cook also got out of the car.
Anton Cook seemed pretty excited, curiously looking around: “I didn’t expect I would be able to visit here one day.”
Silvia Hayes then saw a young man with gold-rimmed glasses coming out quickly.
A crowd of people was following him, indicating his high status.
“Ms.
Aubree, you finally arrived.
Please come inside.”
The man was cultured and gentle, wearing a smart suit and exuding an impressive aura.
He spoke with elegance and composure, creating a very positive impression.
Anton Cook looked at him in surprise: “Professor Vincent Linggo?”
Vincent Linggo raised his eyebrows when he saw Anton Cook: “I’ve heard a lot about you.
Many of my friends are your fans.”
Anton Cook’s eyes sparkled, and he extended his hand: “Professor Linggo, I am a fan of yours.
I’ve never missed one of your columns or lectures.”
Vincent Linggo reached out and made a male handshake, smiling slightly: “That’s my honor.”
Vincent Linggo made a kind gesture: “It’s an honor that the two of you could come today.
Please come in.”
Now Anton Cook was wondering what event was taking place, everything seemed mysterious.
Aubree Groove nodded and smiled: “Thank you, Professor Linggo.”
Vincent Linggo blinked, “My colleagues might get a little crazy.
I hope you’ll pardon them…”
As soon as he finished speaking, screams burst out from behind, “Ah, mom, I see a real person, so beautiful, so beautiful…”
“Oh my god, Mom, I’ve seen the real couple, even golden boys and jade girls don’t match this well.”
These young people just received the news and were still in shock.
When they saw their idols, they were exhilarated.
Especially Aubree Groove, despite the worldwide criticism and attacks on her, she remained calm.
She possessed a kind of Buddha-nature that made people feel boundlessly warm and secure, truly embodying the spirit of not being overjoyed or saddened by external things.
Her face was more beautiful than flowers, her eyes clear and bright, shining with a merciful, saintly light.
Behind her, was soft sunlight, casting a faint golden glow on her.
They had never seen a real Bodhisattva, but presumably, this was what one would look like.
Such a beautiful person, are those people blind?
Not blind, they just never possessed the gift of sight in the first place.
What do you think?
