Chapter 813: 406 Hatred (Sexton)_2
“If you don’t want to talk that’s fine, Mom got you a leave of absence from school. You can rest at home these next few days. The kitchen is preparing all your favorite foods,” Virginia Frost reassured.
She instructed the servant waiting by the door, “Prepare all the young master’s favorite dishes.”
The servant nodded and left.
Virginia softly caressed the young man’s thin face, her eyes filled with heartache.
The young man turned his face, Virginia’s hand brushed past his cheek and hung awkwardly in the air.
A momentary stiffness crossed Virginia’s face as she frowned and said, “Why are you still angry at me? If something is disturbing you, please let me know. I can bear it with you.”
The young man closed his eyes and remained silent.
Virginia gazed at her son’s cold indifference that distanced him from everyone. An unexpected fear arose within her.
When Edward was just born, he wouldn’t cry. Virginia once suspected he might be mute. After countless doctors assured her he was normal, it wasn’t until children his age began to talk that Edward remained silent. At the age of three, a renowned pediatrician diagnosed him with congenital autism.
For Virginia, it felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
The child she risked her life to birth—the fruit of her love, the continuation of Jayden Drake’s legacy, and the motivation driving her survival—was this some sick joke of fate?
Edward’s autism was not like the usual cases— he could take care of himself and his intelligence was not compromised. He simply did not talk or interact with people. There was a time Virginia thought he was more like a deaf and mute than autistic.
During that period, she put all her energy into taking care of Edward, neglecting the Rintos family, which gave Agave Rinto an opportunity to regain control of the Rintos family affairs.
Edward’s early school years were made difficult due to his stunning looks and silent nature. The girls adored him, but his silence seemed like an invisible refusal. Their adolescent pride turned their adoration to ridicule and vicious bullying, humiliating Edward.
When she saw this, her anger surged, and she resolutely slapped one of the girls.
“Mom.” It was the first time Edward had spoken, and the first word was mom.
She was overjoyed.
“She didn’t mean to… Please spare her.”
It turned out, it wasn’t that Edward couldn’t speak, but that he didn’t want to. At such a young age, he seemed to understand everything, rapidly maturing beyond his years while also losing the innocence of childhood.
Of course, she didn’t want to disappoint her son, so she spared the girl in front of him.
However, she would never forgive anyone who had hurt Edward.
Not long after, the girl’s family went bankrupt. The father was arrested, the mother driven to suicide, and the young girl sent to the orphanage, her life tragically altered.
“Why?” A ten-year-old Nicholas Drake charged into her bedroom, furiously confronting her.
He had always controlled his emotions extraordinarily well— this was the first time she had ever seen her son so angry.
“Does revenge truly make you happy?” The young man’s soul piercing question left Virginia Frost utterly shocked.
“No, you become a heartless profiteer, progressively losing yourself and eventually becoming a puppet of hatred.”
Virginia’s mind replayed the young man’s resounding statement.
What was her response to him again?
Rushing towards him, she grabbed the young man’s arms and shouted in a hysterical rage, “What right do you have to question me this way? When did you become so wise? You barely knew your father. He never saw you; he didn’t even know of your existence. Your father was honest and clean, a promising promising man. Yet, he was murdered… Do you know how gruesome his death was? His body was submerged in the river for over a month… He was such a neat person…”
Since then, Edward stopped talking to her for two years.
Virginia Frost found it difficult to comprehend her son; he was like the wind, enigmatically elusive.
She tried her hardest to be good to him, but was only met with silence and disregard.
Sometimes she really wanted to show him her heart. What more does he want from a mother?
The more silent and misunderstood he became, the more she found herself growing hateful.
She blamed Aubree Groove for driving a wedge between their relationship. She wished nothing more than to flay her alive and wished everything related to the Rintos family to be annihilated.
With a forlorn look, Virginia Frost slowly stood up, overlooking her silent son lying on the bed.
“Hate me, resent me, it doesn’t matter. I am your mother. One day you’ll understand that I am the person who loves you most in this world.”
The soft sound of closing door rang, returning the bedroom to its tranquil state.
The curtains blocked all light, leaving the room dim. Only a bedside table lamp cast a soft glow, illuminating a small area on the bed.
Amid the darkness, a faint sigh echoed.
The seeds of hatred, once sown, can spread like wildfire,
This can’t continue, or more innocent people will get hurt.

Upon leaving the Frosts, Bartlett Parker hesitated, then took out his spare phone and dialed a number.
“Now there’s an opportunity in front of you. Let’s see if you’re capable enough to seize it.”
The person on the other end of the phone was taken aback: “What does Mr. Parker mean?”@@novelbin@@
“Madam is set to destroy The Rintos, do you really think you can get away?”
“Mr. Parker, please help me and introduce me to Madam. I’ll faithfully serve her from now on.”
“Give me a break. You’re not worthy enough to meet Madam, you would only sully her sight.”
“Indeed, Mr. Parker, you’re right. Now that Agave Rinto is arrested, it’s a golden opportunity. But he has too many good men under him, I dare not act rashly. Now with Mr. Parker’s assurance, I am confident.”
“Capable men? They’re just a bunch of acrobats, look how scared you are.”
“Yes, sir, you’re right.”
“Remember, your only way out is if Madam is satisfied with you.”
After hanging up the phone, Birch Cliff revealed a cold smile on his face. He who doesn’t look out for himself should expect to have himself condemned.
The Rintos are on their last legs, and Madam has the power to cause a storm or rainfall at her fingertips. Crushing The Rintos will be as easy as squishing an ant. Only the wise understand the changing times. To resist is a dead end.
“Madam, please have some tea.”
Guele Rinto stared at the girl in front of her, her expression somewhat sour.
“Whose minion are you from Birch Cliff?”
The girl was tall and wore a blue floral dress. Her pear blossom hairstyle was both pure and charming.
The girl had fair skin and delicate features. She wasn’t extremely beautiful, but she was certainly charming.
Facing her condescending questioning, the girl answered confidently, “Madam, I am Agnetha, I am…”.
The impatient Guele Rinto cut her off, “I didn’t ask for your name, don’t you understand human language?”
The girl bit her pale lips, “Yes, Madam.”
“Who are you putting on this pitiful face for? I’ve seen plenty of women like you, don’t dream about soaring to the sky in a single step.” Guele Rinto sneered mercilessly.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Birch Cliff approaching. Guele Rinto purposely knocked over the tea cup, scolding, “What kind of clumsy handling is this? Do you know how expensive this dress is?”
The girl squatted down to wipe the water stain on Guele Rinto’s dress.
“I’m sorry, Madam. I didn’t mean to.”
“Get lost, don’t touch me.”
“Sorry, Miss Guele. This girl is clumsy. I’ll take care of this when we get back. I hope you’re not too bothered with this petty argument.” Birch Cliff walked over, grinning apologetically and glared at the girl.
“What are you still doing, standing there. Move.”
The girl retreated obediently.
Guele Rinto rolled her eyes at him, harboring some resentment in her voice, “Old Cliff, you sure have quite the luck with women. Hidden treasures in golden houses, I have underestimated you.”
Birch Cliff, chuckling, wrapped his arm around Guele Rinto’s shoulder, “Miss Guele, don’t get me wrong. She’s a new maid in the house.”
What do you think?
