Chapter 135 - 135 Ning Yuze's Twin Brother

Chapter 135: Chapter 135 Ning Yuze’s Twin Brother

Qiao Yi lay on the bed lost in her thoughts when suddenly, someone knocked on her bedroom door.

“You were kicked out, weren’t you? How did dad let you back in?”

The one knocking was none other than Lu Yanchuan, who had just been “thrown out of the house”. Qiao Yi stepped aside from the bedroom door, but instead of coming in, Lu Yanchuan pulled her out.

“Where are you taking me?”

“To the hospital.”

At this time, instead of investigating, you’re going to the hospital? Who got hurt?

Qiao Yi couldn’t figure out what Lu Yanchuan was up to and had no choice but to obediently follow him out.

Upon reaching the hospital, Lu Yanchuan took Qiao Yi straight to the morgue underground. Qiao Yi felt her hair standing on end, and the questions at the tip of her tongue were left unspoken.

Finally, when the elevator reached the basement, Qiao Yi couldn’t hold back any longer and blurted out.

“What are we doing here?”

“To meet someone.”

Meeting someone in the morgue? Who? A dead person?

Indeed, they were there to see a dead person, someone Qiao Yi was somewhat familiar with.

“Ning Yuze? How could it be him?”

Perhaps not to frighten Qiao Yi, only this one body was placed in the morgue, and several others followed them in, making it not as terrifying as Qiao Yi had imagined.

Ning Yuze lay on the bed, pale and rigid, yet his face and hands showed none of the typical signs of death, such as livor mortis.

“I’m not that familiar with him…”

Regardless of familiarity, seeing someone die due to involvement with oneself, Qiao Yi’s mood could not be good, and she hardly dared to let her gaze linger on Ning Yuze.

“He’s not Ning Yuze, he’s Ning Yuze’s twin brother, Ning Yuhui.”

Qiao Yi had never heard about Ning Yuze having a twin brother and looked at Lu Yanchuan with confusion, waiting for his explanation.

“He’s the one who almost ran over Han Wenle with his car.”

Qiao Yi was shocked. A young master of the Ning Family was involved in this matter and was even one of the attackers!

“I had someone investigate his phone and chat records over the past few months. Before he drove to hit Han Wenle, he had dealings with Lu Ming.”

The shocking news kept coming, and Qiao Yi’s mind was struggling to keep up.

Ning Yuhui was Ning Yuze’s never-before-seen twin brother, and he was the one who intended to drive into Han Wenle. Furthermore, Ning Yuhui had been in contact with Lu Ming before the act!

“Is the person targeting me Lu Ming?”

“No, it should be said that it’s not just Lu Ming. With Lu Ming’s capabilities, he couldn’t extend his reach to T Country to harm Feng Siyu.”

Lu Yanchuan did not deny Qiao Yi’s guess, but he didn’t fully admit it either.

Qiao Yi looked at the face on the bed that looked nearly identical to Ning Yuze’s and felt a chill rapidly spreading from the back of her head across her whole body.

“Regardless, let’s have someone keep a close watch on Lu Ming for now. I’m going to ask Ning Yuze out and see if he knows anything about this!”

Although Ning Family isn’t as prominent as Qiao Family, it is still a renowned family in Capital City. If the Ning Family showed hostility towards her as well, it would make matters even more complicated.

Fortunately, Ning Yuze agreed quickly to meet with Qiao Yi and showed no signs of hostility or wariness towards her.

“Do you have a twin brother named Ning Yuhui?”

Qiao Yi asked directly, which caught Ning Yuze off guard and he hesitated for a while before mumbling an acknowledgment.

“Yes, how do you know about him?”

“Why has the Ning Family never publicly disclosed that you are not an only child? Why conceal Ning Yuhui’s existence?”

Qiao Yi did not answer Ning Yuze’s question but continued to press forward.

Ning Yuze hesitated for a moment, glanced cautiously at Qiao Yi’s expression, and then continued.

“Actually, at first, we didn’t know I had a brother. When he was born, the opposing family bribed the midwife who then took him away. I only found out about him when I was in middle school.”

From what Ning Yuze said, Qiao Yi learned a dramatic story.

The hostile family planned to kidnap the child of the Ning Family. However, in the case of twins, only one was taken and was later sold by that family. Decades later, after going bankrupt, in a bid for revenge, they revealed the existence of the child who had been kidnapped at birth.

By the time the Ning Family found the child, he was beyond redemption and even worse than Ning Yuze.

“Although I indulge in play sometimes, I never engage in criminal activities; however, that’s not the case with Ning Yuhui, especially after he was brought back, my parents spoiled him trying to compensate for his lost childhood. I heard he even picked up a drug habit in the past two years!”

Despite both being social pariahs, Ning Yuze held a disdainful view towards the likes of Ning Yuhui.

“Doesn’t your father handle these issues?”

“How could he control him? Since he grew up wild outside, he doesn’t stay at home unless he needs money. After he got into that stuff, my dad cut off his allowance, and these past few years he hardly came home at all.”

Ning Yuze curled his lips and noticed Qiao Yi’s displeased expression, then he restrained himself and sat properly.

“He’s dead, did you know that?”

Qiao Yi showed Ning Yuze the photo she had taken at the morgue. Ning Yuze was visibly shocked, and after confirming several times that the person in the pictures was Ning Yuhui, he seemed stupefied.

“This…how is this possible? He just came home asking for money a few days ago!”

Qiao Yi carefully observed Ning Yuze’s expression, which transitioned naturally from surprise to panic.

If it wasn’t genuine emotion, he must be a great actor.

However, Qiao Yi didn’t think Ning Yuze was the type to be a good actor.

“Yes, he tried to run over my friend with his car, but ended up killing himself. His body is now at the city hospital, but I can’t let you take it away just yet.”

The information overwhelmed Ning Yuze, leaving his mouth agape, clearly indicating his mind was racing.

Anyone would likely react similarly; although it was his not so close brother, the sudden death of a family member coupled with accusations of intentional harm would not be easily accepted by anyone.

“You must be mistaken. Although he was a scoundrel, he wouldn’t resort to murder, right? Plus, he was fine just a few days ago, how could he just suddenly die?”

“The body is at the city hospital. If you don’t believe it, you can see for yourself. But I suggest you better go home and think about whether or not to tell your dad.”

Having gotten the answers she wanted, Qiao Yi lost the desire to continue the conversation. She stood up and left with those final words.

But just as Qiao Yi was leaving the coffee shop, a Hummer on the roadside suddenly veered out of control and sped towards her!
