Chapter 45: 45 Childhood Sweethearts
Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Childhood Sweethearts
Qiao Yi swore that if anyone dared to tell her again that Lu Yanchuan was some kind of heroic, ruthless, decisive, and cold person, she would fight tooth and nail with them!
This is clearly just a thug in wolf’s clothing!
What does he mean by saying letting others into his room would affect their marital nightlife?
What does he mean by not wanting to see anyone outside his room at night, or else he would accuse the hotel of invading their privacy?
Why does every word he says sound so righteous and justified, yet leads to such wild speculation!
Qiao Yi could already feel the weird glances from the hotel staff, and some were even snickering!
This is unbearable!
Before Qiao Yi could drag Lu Yanchuan to their mutual doom, Lu Yanchuan finally concluded his complaint. After receiving a sincere apology and a stern assurance from the hotel, he then took Qiao Yi back to their room.
Qiao Yi decided not to speak to this man because she didn’t want to be angered to an early grave.
Lu Yanchuan’s phone had been ringing non-stop ever since they got back to the room, and Qiao Yi saw Lu Yanchuan busy replying to messages before she fell asleep.
It was only during breakfast the next day that Qiao Yi learned that Lu Ming had left the country overnight, not even waiting until the flight in the next afternoon; he hastened to P Country the same night to catch the earliest flight back home.
Lu Ming left in a hurry, but Qiao Yi recalled his appearance from the evening before and felt she might have overlooked something.
Qiao Yi didn’t have the energy to ponder Lu Ming’s affairs because she was approached by another trouble.
“So you’re Yanchuan’s wife?”
Qiao Yi looked at the young girl in front of her with an unfriendly expression, and turned her eyes in confusion to Lu Yanchuan sitting beside her.
Lu Yanchuan looked as if his eyes were fixed on his nose and his nose fixed on his heart, turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to the commotion.
“I’m talking to you, didn’t you hear me? How can you be so impolite!”
The girl looked to be in her early twenties at most, her appearance naturally lively and cute, but her face was marred by an aura of arrogance and rudeness.
Qiao Yi had no interest in reasoning with such a girl, and after taking another glance at Lu Yanchuan, she turned to walk away, intending to go shopping.
“Stop right there! Didn’t your parents teach you how to speak to people? You…”
“If you say one more word, I’ll throw you down from the thirtieth floor.”
Qiao Yi turned around emotionlessly, her black eyes calm without a ripple, but it inexplicably sent chills down one’s spine.
The girl had been spoiled for over twenty years, never encountering such icy gazes, and was suddenly too scared to say another word, her eyes in a panic as she looked toward Lu Yanchuan.
Qiao Yi disliked proud and impolite people, like Qiao Xin, and like this inexplicable young girl in front of her.
“Little girl, the next time you come out looking for trouble, you’d better know if the person you’re provoking is someone you can afford to mess with, otherwise you’ll end up being thrown down from a building sometime.”
Qiao Yi’s expression softened, but the girl no longer dared to look her in the eye, clenching her hands in a defiant manner.
Disrupted by the girl’s scene, Qiao Yi lost the mood to go out shopping. She rolled her eyes, walked over, and sat down on the solo sofa beside Lu Yanchuan, tilting her head up slightly to look at the girl.
“Speak up, who are you, and who told you about Lu Yanchuan and me coming to F Country?”
“Yanchuan, Brother…”
The little girl seemed to be terrified by Qiao Yi, looking at Lu Yanchuan with a pitiful gaze, hoping he would speak up for her.
Unfortunately, she should not have sought help from Lu Yanchuan—didn’t she see that he didn’t even glance her way?
“When I’m talking to you, if you don’t want to answer, then please leave my room, or else I’ll call security.”
Qiao Yi’s voice sounded like a death knell in the little girl’s ears.
Through their brief exchange, Qiao Yi came to understand who this little girl was.
She was the daughter of Lu Xiaohua’s best friend’s family, named Bai Lingling. Because her mother and Lu Xiaohua were close, she often visited the Lu Family when she was young.
By seniority, she should address Lu Yanchuan as Uncle, but ever since she first met him when she was in her teens, she never called him Uncle, always Brother instead.
When they were little, Lu Xiaohua and Bai Lingling’s mother tried to correct her, but as the children grew older, how could they not see Bai Lingling’s hidden affection? With a bit of selfishness, they let Bai Lingling continue her ways.
Lu Yanchuan’s indifference didn’t deter Bai Lingling; instead, she fought on with even more determination, not giving up even when she went abroad for studies.
What she didn’t expect was that after only two years abroad, her beloved Yanchuan already had a wife—and this wife was so much more beautiful than her, with a much better family background, too!
No one knew how hard she had worked to catch up to Lu Yanchuan’s footsteps.
But now all of that was impossible, because sitting by Lu Yanchuan’s side was his wife today!
Struck by this revelation, Bai Lingling showed her resilience. After recovering from the shock of Qiao Yi’s threat, she held back her feelings and sat down beside Lu Yanchuan.
“Yanchuan Brother, it’s so rare for you to visit me, can’t you stay a few more days before leaving? I’ll take you around and have a good time here.”
Oh my, Qiao Yi almost melted at the calling of ‘Yanchuan Brother,’ her gaze playfully turning to Lu Yanchuan, curious about his thoughts on this childhood friend.
Qiao Yi absolutely refused to admit the slight discomfort in her heart!
“Bai Lingling, I’m not here to see you, and I’ve told you not to get so close to me. Otherwise, I really want to throw you off the 30th floor.”
“Pfft—”
Qiao Yi couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Bai Lingling glared at her fiercely, but Qiao Yi just couldn’t stop laughing, sliding down into the sofa.
Lu Yanchuan propped up the helpless Qiao Yi, letting her lean on him, and only after a while did he manage to calm her down.
Qiao Yi was impressed by Lu Yanchuan’s ability to irritate people—she could not fathom how Bai Lingling had endured all these years, to actually fall for such a man.
No doubt, Bai Lingling’s perseverance was truly admirable.
“I still have things to do, I’ll visit you some other time…”
Bai Lingling ran off crying. Qiao Yi really wanted to see if she was actually crying, but just as she started to sit up, Lu Yanchuan pulled her back onto the sofa.
“Very funny?”
“Hahaha—”
Lu Yanchuan’s voice carried a hint of a threat, and Qiao Yi immediately closed her mouth and shook her head vigorously, but laughter isn’t something that can be contained just by closing one’s mouth. Muffled sounds escaped through Qiao Yi’s lips, as if releasing some kind of gas non-stop.
“I’ve booked a flight for tomorrow afternoon. If you want to go shopping, better do it quickly.”
Lu Yanchuan casually let go of Qiao Yi, acting as if nothing had happened.
Qiao Yi, rubbing her face, stood up from the sofa and, still unable to suppress her laughter at the look of Lu Yanchuan, cheerfully left the room with her purse in hand.
What do you think?
