Chapter 96: Chapter 96: The Small Courtyard that Wastes Natural Resources

Ever since attending Yun Luoluo’s birthday party, there had been an inexplicable change in the atmosphere between Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan.

For instance, Qiao Yi would always subconsciously avoid direct contact with Lu Yanchuan, and Lu Yanchuan would always deliberately or unintentionally loiter around Qiao Yi.

In short, it was very abnormal.

After observing Qiao Yi once again, Feng Siyu finally came to a conclusion.

“My dear, did you have a fight with Third Young Master? Between husband and wife, quarrels may happen but will end by bedtime. Just speak your mind, why do you have to fight?”

Jing Se choked up but shook her head with a sigh.

...

“You don’t understand…”

Feng Siyu almost rolled her eyes to the sky, complaining that she didn’t understand, when clearly Qiao Yi herself was being the most abnormal!

However, seeing that Qiao Yi didn’t want to continue the topic, Feng Siyu immediately switched to another.

“This weekend, there’s a jade exhibition and sale in Jiang City, and I heard there will be jade betting. Want to go with me?”

“Jade betting? Sure, I’ve only heard about people betting on jade before, I’ve never seen how it’s done.”

Qiao Yi was clearly interested and readily agreed to go to the exhibition and sale with Feng Siyu.

Feng Siyu, with her back to Qiao Yi, snickered and began to quietly send out messages.

It was only when leaving that Qiao Yi found out she had been deceived.

She thought Feng Siyu had invited her to have fun, and at most Gu Ting would be joining them on the road. But it wasn’t until they arrived at the airport and Qiao Yi saw the dozen or so heads opposite her, that she realized how naive her thoughts had been.

Besides Gu Ting who she had initially expected, there were also the siblings Han Wenle and Han Zizhen, the cousins Yun Qing and Yun Luoluo, the ever-following Ma Yu behind Lu Yanchuan, and most importantly Lu Yanchuan, the Third Young Master!

Originally, Qiao Yi thought these people were the limit, everyone being relatives and friends, it was too normal to travel together.

But upon boarding the plane and seeing Lu Ming and the visibly pregnant Qiao Xin, Qiao Yi once again realized how naive her thoughts truly were…

“Weren’t we agreed to just have fun together? How did it turn into this!”

Qiao Yi grabbed Feng Siyu, furiously whispering and questioning her. Feng Siyu shrank her neck, fearing to incite Qiao Yi’s rage even further.

“I only called your Third Young Master and Han Wenle, who knew so many people would follow!”

“Where did you call them from?”

“From a group chat!”

Qiao Yi felt uneasy, hurriedly took out her phone to find the group Feng Siyu mentioned.

Good grief, Feng Siyu, not using her brain, directly invited people from the temporary group formed for the last fireworks event.

No wonder even Lu Ming and Qiao Xin had tagged along!

But these two really were stubborn, a trait Qiao Yi admired the most in them.

To practice shamelessness to such an extent, these two really were a match made in heaven; letting Qiao Xin marry Lu Ming was indeed a wise choice.

However, they probably also knew that they were not welcomed, so once they were on the plane, they just quietly sat there pretending to be air.

Qiao Yi rolled her eyes, gave up on fussing with Feng Siyu over this matter; everyone had come already, they couldn’t ask these people to go back, after all, it was a trip meant for fun, the more the merrier.

Jiang City is located on the north side of the river mouth leading to the sea, sitting opposite Shanghai across the banks.

After the group disembarked, there was a shuttle to take them directly to the specifically booked airplane for the exhibition and sale.

Unlike those individual visitors, people like them who come with invitations are essentially considered honored guests, and naturally, their treatment is somewhat different.

Those sent to the hotel went back to their rooms to rest one by one, and soon only Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan were left.

“Please follow me this way.”

After registering them, the hotel attendant led the two into the elevator.

They reached the room door, where the attendant opened it for them and then promptly left.

Qiao Yi walked into the room and, seeing that conspicuously heart-shaped bed, suddenly felt a strong sense of malice from Feng Siyu.

That damned girl! She definitely did it on purpose!

Qiao Yi clenched her teeth in anger, while Lu Yanchuan merely paused briefly, then quickly regained his composure, changed his clothes, and laid directly on the bed.

The worst part about a heart-shaped bed is that it’s short on the sides and long in the middle, making it impossible to sleep on the sides and forcing people to squeeze towards the center.

And this design, coincidentally, is also the most cunning aspect of a heart-shaped bed. To avoid falling off while asleep, those on the bed must move towards the middle, inevitably leading to some physical contact between them.

And sometimes, it is through such contact that complications arise.

When Qiao Yi woke up after such an encounter, she didn’t even understand why that collision happened.

The refreshed Lu Yanchuan was getting dressed, his firm back full of scratch marks, and seeing this, Qiao Yi instantly blushed and quickly turned her head away.

“I am your husband, you can just talk to me directly in the future, there’s no need for this…”

Qiao Yi froze, foolishly watching as Lu Yanchuan kissed her on the cheek and then turned to leave.

It took a while for Qiao Yi to come back to her senses.

Lu Yanchuan had misunderstood!

She didn’t choose this room!

Feng Siyu, you have doomed me!

Qiao Yi punched the pillows in her room to vent her frustrations, while the departed Lu Yanchuan took several turns and entered a small alley.

At the very end of the alley was a household with a Chu red wooden door, very rare in modern times. Lu Yanchuan approached and knocked twice on the door; after a while, the door slowly opened a crack.

“Ah! Mr. Lu! It’s you!”

A head popped out from inside the door, and upon seeing Lu Yanchuan, the person immediately smiled and hurriedly welcomed him inside.

“Uncle Peng, how has the old master been feeling lately?”

“The old master’s health isn’t bad, but he often talks about you, always saying that you haven’t visited him recently!”

Walking in the courtyard, the path lined on either side with clumps of rare flowers and plants, would cause any expert on the subject to be heartbroken if they saw these seemingly indiscriminate plants.

Look at those two clumps of hay-like plants under the tree, who would believe they were the famous Juliet Roses!

After passing through this section of path which wasted nature’s beauty, the two finally entered the courtyard.

The courtyard was spacious yet arranged very cozily.

Near dusk, a large tree thick enough for five people to embrace cast a swath of shade in the southeast corner of the yard, where an elderly, white-haired man leaned on a rocking chair, gently swaying with the evening breeze.

Lu Yanchuan stopped two steps beside the elder, slightly bowed, and respectfully whispered a greeting.

“Master Tao, how have you been lately? I’ve come to see you.”
