Chapter 146- Necessary step(1)

“No, we are not going to have burgers for dinner, Shiori. You are grown up now, so act maturely.” Mira softly chided her daughter who insisted on going to McD for dinner. 

The older one wanted to go to the hot-pot restaurant nearby and have a good meal after being starved for the whole day.

Hearing the banter, Kosuke told them, “We can have hot pot first then Shiori, let's get you a burger?” 

Shiori smiled in elation, “Thanks, Dad!” She hugged him from the side.

Mira frowned and before she could say anything, Kosuke asked the fourth member of the family,

“Everything is fine, Minoru? You have been silent ever since.” Hearing his words, the other two also turned to look at the youngest one.

Shiori has noticed that her brother has been like this since that lady harassed him.

Hearing their words, Minoru shook his head, “Being not used to traveling in a car, feeling a little lethargic. I will be fine once we go out.”

Mira looked worried, “Do you want to rest in the room?”

Minoru shook his head, “I am fine, Mom. Fresh air will help right now.”

They looked unconvinced since it was rare for Minoru to be so silent. However, since he was saying he was fine, no one insisted on him staying back.

Meanwhile, in the hotel room where the Vanquisher was staying, they frowned when they heard what Minoru’s family members were saying.

“Did he find out?” One of the six members asked as he heard what Minoru’s mother said.

The girl who planted the chip on Minoru shook her head, “Can't be…I made sure to divert their attention when I planted that chip. To detect it, he has to use his skills. And if he does, we can simply catch him.”

Everyone agreed to that. The Vanquishers have the finest and most brilliant minds working in workshops to make this advanced tech for them to use.

Using the gemstones that demons possess, they can provide a long-living power source to this technology that allows humans to develop their equipment.

However, since the whole Demon and Vanquisher side is under the wraps, the government has strictly forbade them from selling these technology to general public.

“Maybe he is paranoid and has turned silent naturally?” Another one suggested. And before anyone else could have said something, the woman with curly black hair commanded,

“Just shut up and let me listen to what is happening. Because of you all, I don't want to fail in this task.”

After that, no one needlessly bantered.

Soon, they walked out of the hotel and went to the nearest restaurant. 

Mira had a face full of smiles as she ordered all the meat and vegetables she liked. 

“Why don't you order something, Minoru?” Kosuke asked as he offered him the menu.

Minoru hummed a bit, before taking the menu.

Realizing that if he remained passive more than necessary, then the Vanquishers might suspect, he began speaking a bit more,

“How about we try some seafood, Nee-san? You like octopus legs, right?” 

Shiori smiled; rather than food, she was happy to see her brother finally speaking normally. 

“Yes, I love ‘em.”

“Okay then, meat, octopus, vegetables and tofu. That would be all, right?”

Kosuke added, “And my juice?” “One for me and Shiori-nee as well. Naturally, non-alcoholic.”

Minoru hurriedly added.

Once the waiter left, Mira asked, “Are we really going to visit the amusement park tonight? Shouldn't we rest?”

Mira was unsure since her children seemed to be wanting to visit the park, but she was tired and so was her husband.

She looked at Kosuke for a suggestion, but he turned towards Minoru and asked,

“Do you feel good, Minoru?”

Minoru, who was looking at his phone, tore his eyes away from the screen and said,

“Ah…no. I am a bit tired and might puke in the giant wheel.”

Shiori giggled, “Just like how you peed back when you-”

“Okay, that's enough! You don't need to go that deep.” Minoru hurriedly covered his sister’s mouth before she could have made him remember that embarrassing day when he rode a rollercoaster for the first time.

Well, he recalled it anyway.

Mira chuckled, “You were so adorable at that time, Minoru. Scared from the dark, holding hands when walking. Hah~I miss the little Minoru.”

Minoru smiled at his mother before saying, “I am still small for you, mum.”

“That…you will always remain for each one of us.” Shiori added.

Soon, the waiter arrived and one after another he delivered all the ingredients being asked. 

Since there were a lot of coupons Minoru provided, no one held back in ordering whatever they wanted.

It has been too long for them to spend time like this. After a long time, everyone was stress free like this. 

Shiori was no longer in any toxic relationship. Kosuke finally got his promotion and his senior no longer torments him. Mira’s job as a yoga trainer was going great and they finally had finished paying the debt they took for Shiori’s college fees.

So this vacation was actually a very good opportunity for them to just relax and worry about nothing.

It took them an hour to finish dinner. The three of them were standing outside while Kosuke paid the bill.

Minoru kept on looking at the phone, urging Shiori to ask, “Are you expecting someone’s call?" 

Minoru soon shook his head and pocketed his phone, “Nope~it’s alright now." 

He has already received the message from Akane and now he just has to wait.

Soon Kosuke walked out and said, “Let's take a walk around." 

Mira nodded and hooked her arm with her husband’s. 

Minoru and Shiori walked behind them as they slowly walked toward the amusement park just to look around.

Walking on the pedestrian path, Minoru walked on the right just like always.

“Do you want me to massage your back when we return?” Shiori offered.

Minoru was about to say something when suddenly someone snatched his phone and began to run away.

“Hey, wait!" Minoru shouted, alerting the other two as they turned toward Minoru who followed the robber.

Shiori gasped and her mother shouted,

“Minoru careful!" Mira shouted as she saw a car advancing towards them.

Kosuke dashed toward him, however, it was too late.

Just as Minoru was about to reach the robber, the car hit him from the left—sending Minoru flying away before he landed on the ground and rolled a few times before his bloodied form came to a pause.

Minoru was met by a severe accident.
