Chapter 292 285 Calm before the storm

The assault operation against the Teizene Fleet was ultimately decided by Xu Lanzhou, who chose to command in person. Despite her youth, Xu Lanzhou was still the only military general in the fleet with extensive experience in commanding large fleets. She possessed ample combat experience and a natural aptitude for warfare, and was greatly trusted by Bai Zhongqi.

If Xu Lanzhou decided to launch a fatal raid on Teizene, she needed a force powerful enough to shake the enemy. The Star Alliance currently had four strategic fleet groups; the first was stationed in the Sirius Galaxy, while Bai Zhongqi personally oversaw the fourth as a reserve force for the Star Alliance Universe Army. Xu Lanzhou was able to deploy more than four hundred warships from the second and third strategic fleet groups for this raid.

The Centauri Alpha Galaxy became the rallying point for Xu Lanzhou's raid. Squadrons stationed from other galaxies arrived at Centauri Alpha at this time, and massive warships formed a neat fleet in the cosmic space. Notably, the six enormous Bojiang Class Battleships were especially eye-catching.

Merely from the perspective of firepower, the Bojiang Class surpassed the Sacred Falcon Class Battlecruiser. Particularly formidable were the nine large-caliber Gauss Railguns along the central axis of the battleships, whose power was extremely terrifying. The main guns of the Bojiang Class were effective at eroding the shields of enemy warships, having been a primary force against enemy main battle ships' solid shields since their introduction.

In the second and third strategic fleet groups, up to two hundred thousand soldiers of the Universe Army were ready for battle, including the Enterprise Carrier Cruiser previously sent to guard remote star systems, now appearing amongst the fleet.

Taschwe stood in the warship's hangar, looking out through a porthole at the impressive scene. Rows of neatly arrayed warships were ready, waiting for the commander's order to fly through warp bubbles tens of light-years away to the battlefield, delivering a fatal blow to the enemy.

This scene stirred Taschwe's blood, and he instinctively turned to speak to his friend Huang Quan, only to remember that Huang Quan was already on the bridge assisting Captain Chi Jia with the deployment. The hangar bustled with military personnel of various appearances, clearly from different countries on Earth, though predominantly from China.

"I still miss that guy with the silver hair," Taschwe thought. He wasn't very familiar with these new comrades, many of whom had recently been assigned to their ship. Most of them were rookie pilots fresh from the Flight Academy. Most of these pilots had probably flown fewer than 200 hours, though they had all passed 1000 hours of training in deep sleep learning.

The new pilots in this place all looked up to Taschwe with admiration. After all, having fought alongside Bai Zhongqi in other star regions against Teizene made him an experienced veteran. And as far as flying skills went, Taschwe, the old bird, could easily outfly them.

Previously, he always wanted to challenge the ace pilot Diane, but she was eventually reassigned to another unit, which he deeply regretted.

At the far end of the hangar, Taschwe saw Jun Jiushao, the navigator with a serene and beautiful visage. This woman, who seldom spoke and appeared to have a classic beauty, didn't have many friends on the ship.

"Who would have thought that two years ago, Earthlings were still chaotically infighting, and now everyone is wearing the same uniform, fighting together for the peace of Earth," Taschwe casually said to Jun Jiushao.

He really didn't expect Jun Jiushao to respond, but today she seemed in a good mood and spoke softly, "To get a group of people to cooperate, they need to have a common enemy or a common interest. Now, Earthlings have both."

Taschwe considered her words and replied, "That's a very astute summary."

Jun Jiushao gently looked at the pilot in front of her and asked a question, "What are your thoughts about this upcoming strike?"

Taschwe was initially stunned, then said, "What else could there be? We will certainly be victorious."

Jun Jiushao shook his head and replied, "The joint command center's decision to launch an operation out of the interstellar cloud to attack the opposition is still somewhat risky. They organized such a large-scale military operation based solely on the intelligence of communications with the people of Teizene, which isn't very rational."@@novelbin@@

Taschwe hadn't expected Jun Jiushao to be interested in strategic tactics; he chuckled and said, "These matters are not something people at our level need to worry about. Even if there are problems with the decisions made by those above us, there will be someone to handle the consequences. Besides, I don't think we will encounter any trouble. Even if the people of Teizene are formidable, and they have that Shield Sharing technology, our Star Alliance warships have strong enough firepower to shatter their turtle shells."

Jun Jiushao did not respond anymore, and without even bidding Taschwe goodbye, she gracefully walked away. Watching her retreating figure, Taschwe felt a sense of admiration; even in military uniform, Jun Jiushao resembled a heroine, embodying a heroic charm along with a classical lady's temperament.

Star Alliance Universe Army's assembly speed was extremely fast; most of the star systems had AI automation, and even in very large and complex military operations, there wasn't much need for human intervention, as most tasks could be automatically prepared by AI.

More and more warships were ready, and Xu Lanzhou boarded her temporary flagship, the Beiluoshimen Battleship. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire

"In thirty minutes, the fleet's preparations will be all set."

Upon hearing the report, Xu Lanzhou nodded, feeling a mix of slight nervousness and excitement; after all, this was her first time overseeing such a large-scale fleet.

"I must not falter, with the Chancellor watching over me, I have to fight this battle well!" Xu Lanzhou encouraged herself.

Bai Zhongqi, far away on Earth, was constantly monitoring the preparations of Xu Lanzhou's two major strategic fleet groups.

Dressed in casual clothes, he was, at that moment, adopting the guise of an ordinary person, enjoying a quiet moment at a small coffee shop in Tai Ping City.

The cafe's deliberately retro-styled small television was displaying a currently popular variety show. Bai Zhongqi, seated by the window, watched the bustling crowd outside, seemingly unaware of the great battle being prepared beyond their planet.

Zero noticed Bai Zhongqi's mood and commented, "People won't really take something to heart unless they've actually seen and felt it. Although this fight is intimately connected with the fate of our Star Alliance, it still feels somewhat distant for most people. They continue to go about their own business, living their lives, enjoying the ordinary peace."

Bai Zhongqi smiled and said, "Let's hope that this peace is never shattered."
