Chapter 644: Snow Dragon Crisis 630
The Snow Dragon Galaxy in the Third Universe shared many similarities with the Galaxy in the First Universe. Although their stellar structures differed, both galaxies were made up of relatively sparse matter. The planets within them were also distantly spaced, posing developmental challenges for emerging civilizations.
Mid-level civilizations like the Zhalan Civilization would hardly make the rankings in the Second Universe, but in the Snow Dragon Galaxy of the Third Universe, it was a powerful civilization spanning several star sectors. Due to the vast distances between its colonized planets, the Zhalan Civilization was maintained through a relatively loose feudal system. The Royal Court's direct control was not extensive; rather, it resembled the fiefdoms of civilizations like the previous Silver Feather Army, which were submissive to command.
The other nearby civilizations were generally similar to the Zhalan Civilization, where major civilizations had an unspoken agreement and territorial understanding to avoid invasions. Since the Snow Dragon Galaxy was sparsely populated, everyone could expand their dominions without conflict, and rashly starting wars was seen as disadvantageous.
Bai Zhongqi gradually seized all the territorial planets that belonged to the original Zhalan Civilization, transferring them into the Virtual Universe for remodeling, with noticeable results appearing within a month or two (with time flowing tenfold faster in the Virtual Universe). He then took out a planet stored within the Golden Great Sail Ship to serve as his operational base in the Third Universe.
Normally, to effectively support their fleets, civilizations would build giant base ships or fully-equipped Titan-class ships. These warships often included extensive recreational and leisure facilities to maintain the combat effectiveness of their troops. For Bai Zhongqi, however, such amenities were unnecessary as he could use whole planets as rest areas for his fleet's personnel.
The temporary foothold, named Nuoye Star, was essentially an empty planet. There seemed to be traces of cities, indicating that a civilization had once lived there, but when Bai Zhongqi unsealed it, not a single person was found. The technological level of the cities was not very high, just entering the stage of mid-level civilizations, with no significant spaceflight capabilities. While establishing his foothold, Bai Zhongqi began some construction on this planet.
Meanwhile, Qi Xiao, a knight serving as Bai Zhongqi's scout, was in contact with a local civilization 6,000 light-years away.
The Steel Ancient Civilization had beings with enriched metallic elements in their bodies, even capable of producing deck-like structures, with individuals typically larger and much bulkier than two members of the Primate Clan. Their disposition, however, was relatively mild and they were not fond of combat.
Upon seeing Qi Xiao, the Steel Ancient diplomat, Barbaro, expressed considerable surprise, "You are from the Silver Feather Army of the Zhalan Civilization, aren't you? It's truly unexpected. There are still survivors from the Zhalan Civilization. I express my deepest sympathy and condolences for your plight."
Staring at the Steel Ancient, whose face bore six metal plates, Qi Xiao felt no ill will. He shook his head and said, "Diplomat Sir, knowing about our Silver Feather Army, you should understand that our relationship with the Zhalan people was not one of subjugation. We recognize only our Iridium Star Chancellor as our leader. Before the events on Zhalan Star, we had already parted ways with the Zhalan people and returned under the flag of the Iridium Star Chancellor. Thus, we have no knowledge of the events that occurred in the Zhalan Civilization."
Barbaro was even more intrigued, "So, you've actually found your Chancellor? Well, with the Zhalan Civilization no longer existing, I extend my personal congratulations to you. You are very fortunate to have left when you did; a moment later, and you might have shared the same fate as the Zhalan people."
Qi Xiao asked, "What exactly happened?"
"It was a terrifying invader, one which has existed not just for a day or two. Although initially inactive, especially within our Great Star Zone, after accumulating strength for many years, it seemed to embark on a path of conquest. In the past thirty years, it has successively defeated numerous civilizations. This time they found a Wormhole Passage leading to our Great Star Zone and crossed over directly. The Zhalan people were unlucky, vanquished in a surprise attack. Within six months, they had defeated three civilizations in succession, leaving no survivors; the planets were bombarded beyond habitation."
Qi Xiao frowned and asked, "Does this civilization not have a name?"
Barbaro replied, "The Spiral Mosquito Civilization, if I recall correctly. But we know nothing of their race or technology."
Qi Xiao was deeply shocked and inwardly exclaimed that it was indeed so.
At that moment, Barbaro earnestly said to Qi Xiao, "Sir, the Silver Feather Army's prowess in the Snow Dragon Galaxy is well known to all combat-ready people. Now that the Spiral Mosquito Civilization threatens all civilizations in our galaxy, it is said that after hundreds of years of exploration, they have understood the intricacies of the wormhole passages in the Snow Dragon Galaxy and can launch surprise attacks on any major civilization. Previously, each civilization acted independently, even holding grudges, but if we don't band together now, we are likely to be devoured by this dreadful enemy."
Qi Xiao could see the urgency in Barbaro's face and asked, "What now? Have they already made a move against your Steel Ancient Civilization?"
"Not yet, but it's said that they're amassing forces, and soon it will include us among other civilizations. Now all the apprehensive civilizations within the Snow Dragon Galaxy are connecting, preparing to form an alliance to quell this disaster. The Silver Feather Army, too, hopes to continue its development in the Snow Dragon Galaxy, right? We would like to invite you to join the alliance; collectively, we stand a stronger chance."
"I'm sorry, I would personally like to assist you, but the Silver Feather Army has already returned to the flag of the United Empire of Iridium Star. Whether to participate in such a military alliance is for our esteemed Iridium Star Chancellor to decide. I will report the situation here to His Highness."
Hearing this, Barbaro grew curious. Over the years, the Silver Feather Army had become the military cornerstone of the Zhalan Civilization. The Silver Feather Army had always been loosely connected to the Zhalan Civilization, with fidelity lying elsewhere. Now that they had apparently found their Chancellor, the Iridium Star United Empire must also be a formidable civilization.
Facing the imminent threat of his civilization's destruction, Barbaro was eager to consolidate all possible forces. Seeing a glimmer of opportunity, he immediately requested an audience with the Iridium Star Chancellor to seek military assistance.
Qi Xiao also took the opportunity to request that Barbaro prepare all intelligence on the Spiral Mosquito Civilization to bring along to Nuoye Star.
What do you think?
