Chapter 652: 638 True Battle Tactics

Di Maquan became both shocked and enraged upon discovering that the Spiral Mosquito Fleet not only didn't tactically retreat but boldly advanced head-on, "Are these Spiral Mosquitoes too confident in themselves? How dare they attack us under such unfavorable conditions?"

Di Maquan felt that the Spiral Mosquito people must have something to rely on, but he didn't think he would lose the battle under the tremendous numerical advantage of more than ten times.

"Let's take the lead!" Di Maquan encouraged the entire army.

This commander from the Light Valley Civilization indeed had some real skills. Although there was significant diversity among the warships of various civilizations within the Snow Dragon Alliance and even their weapon systems and attack modes differed, after extensive research, Di Maquan had developed an effective combat method that could optimally utilize the military strength of the Snow Dragon Alliance fleet.

The allied fleet divided into various formations, resembling an open net, seemingly ready to envelop the Spiral Mosquito Fleet from all directions—above, below, left, right, front, and back. These formation fleets had no particularly weak links and each included several warships from Light Valley or Klaren as the core, with the formations interconnected in a cross-linked pattern, so one being attacked meant others could provide support. Hence, in Di Maquan's opinion, it would not be easy for the enemy to break through any specific formation.

In contrast, the Spiral Mosquito Fleet appeared much more nonchalant. They clumped together in a large group, scattering quite widely, their strategy unclear.

Inside the captain's cabin of the Sacred Lion, Bai Zhongqi and Xu Lanzhou sat beside a coffee table that bore some nuts and a pot of black tea.

"The video signal is coming in," Bai Zhongqi said with a smile.

After closely observing the situation on the battlefield, Xu Lanzhou deduced, "I'm afraid the Spiral Mosquito people are finally going to employ their best tactics."

Bai Zhongqi nodded, "I thought they had completely changed their nature, but it turns out they've been hiding their skill, waiting to strike a stunning blow now."

At a distance where the main guns' weapons were still out of range, the Spiral Mosquito warships suddenly launched a large quantity of torpedo-like weapons toward the Snow Dragon Alliance fleet.

Di Maquan also noticed the situation immediately; his subordinate reported, "The enemy fleet has launched a large number of heavy torpedoes, extremely fast, reaching 15,000 mach."

"How can there be torpedoes that fast?" Di Maquan was also extremely shocked, since in ordinary space wars, torpedoes were not considered particularly dominant weapons, primarily because of their slow speed, making them easy to intercept.

Usually, the higher the speed required, the larger the propulsion engine needed, and given the limitations of the torpedoes' size, plus cost issues, it was unlikely to build expensive, high-speed torpedoes. However, there was also a small number of torpedoes capable of entering warp speed, clearly a secret technique of high-level civilizations, not mastered by all.

"Enemy high-speed torpedoes approaching, number 52,537, speed still increasing!"

Di Maquan roared, "Intercept!"

As the torpedoes came within range of their self-defense weapons, nearly all the defensive weapons of the allied fleet fired at the high-speed torpedoes. The torpedoes were extremely fast and their trajectories irregular, frequently switching positions and executing seemingly conscious tactical maneuvers, creating decoys.

Ordinary electromagnetic cannons driven by electromagnetic propulsion could hardly hit these agile targets. Only laser cannons could hit them relatively timely, but when several laser beams hit those torpedoes, it seemed like nothing happened to the torpedoes.

"Damn, they actually fitted torpedoes with such high-level mirror armor!"

Mirror armor was feasible against laser weapons. Although it was a spear and shield contest, clearly, in this round, the Spiral Mosquito's shield won.

There were a few shells or light beams that hit the torpedoes, but a second before being hit, the torpedoes would suddenly break in half from the middle, and then a rocket-shaped space fighter would rapidly shoot out from inside. These fighters didn't have large wings since aerodynamics was not an issue in space. The fighters were ejected at a high speed in the last second, immediately evading the certain attack, while the split torpedoes would immediately burst into a weird cluster of light points, obstructing the view and even causing significant trouble to the radar operations.

The swiftly escaping fighters, like a highly deadly swarm of bees, launched a fierce attack on the Snow Dragon Alliance Fleet, which had not anticipated this situation.

Suddenly, dozens of fighters gathered together, then assembled into an even larger combined flyer, all the energy converged on one of the fighters, which then acted as a cannon, fiercely firing a particularly domineering light beam, hitting hard on the shield of a Klaren Civilization destroyer.

Just one shot reduced the destroyer's shield by thirty percent, the power of a single shot was evident.

More gunfire converged, and after one successful hit, the dozen fighters immediately split again into dozens of super agile fighters, dodging the incoming shells.

More and more fighters started using this combined attack tactic, continually striking the Alliance Fleet's warships. Larger warships could still resist a bit, but the smaller ones, after being hit two or three times, had their shields broken, and with another hit, were basically incapacitated.

In the bewildering moment, several Alliance warships had been destroyed or sunk. Although the Spiral Mosquito also lost dozens of aircraft immediately, such an exchange was something any commander would be happy to do.

Through the captured combat footage by the Steel Ancient Civilization's warships, Bai Zhongqi and Xu Lanzhou could enjoy the battle scene from nearly a hundred light-years away.

Bai Zhongqi exclaimed, "Even after thousands of years, these Spiral Mosquito people still use the same tricks. Back then, this tactic cost the United Empire so much."

In the military territory of the Spiral Mosquito Civilization, the strongest were their stellar aviation troops. Apart from fearlessness in sacrifice and high quality—soft qualities—the Spiral Mosquito warplanes were fast, dodged well, and also had combination cannons as a manner of attack. Those large, high-speed torpedoes were not really torpedoes but were vehicles for launching and protecting these fighters, which also gave these fighters a higher chance of survival.

Facing this interstellar aviation force, only the densest antiair firepower and most efficient antiair systems could achieve some effect.

In fact, the Spiral Mosquito were unlikely to lose warships in real combat, mainly because most of their firepower was deployed through their aviation troops.

Seemingly feeling that fifty thousand fighters were still not enough, the Spiral Mosquito Fleet once again released another batch of launch vehicle torpedoes, and over a hundred thousand Spiral Mosquito fighters immediately became as dangerous as hornets, placing the Alliance Fleet in trouble.
