Chapter 572 Her Own Path
"So this is the legendary sword realm…" Xin Yan muttered as she looked at the vast existence that spanned so far that even her eyes could not see.
The endless river filled with sword intent, and the people in the form of dark shadows moved slowly at their own pace without any care for others. 'Everything is as Noah said.'
Instead of immediately making a move, she calmly looked around the area and observed everything closely.@@novelbin@@
This was the first time she had gone to the sword realm and wanted to see everything she had heard from the scrolls in her family and even from Noah, by herself.
'It looks like the two stalkers Noah mentioned are not here. Well, it's natural—they must have completed their training and wanted to linger around to watch others, to find talented individuals and recruit them. Most high-level families do that.' Xin Yan could more or less guess the intentions of the people Noah had previously met.
After a quick glance, she stopped looking. 'This place is too bland. It's better I focus on establishing my own path in the sword dao.'
Just like Noah, when Xin Yan entered, she was standing in the middle of a vast lake that had no start and no end.
Soon, her eyes landed on a row of small stone steles that appeared out of nowhere as soon as she stepped into the realm.
'Does this only appear for those who arrive in this place for the first time?' Xin Yan thought but soon shook her head to discard useless thoughts. 'I need to focus!'
Taking a deep breath, she took a step forward. The water under her feet rippled as Xin Yan found herself going empty; she could not hear anything other than the beat of her heart, which was not even in this realm.
Her mind was suddenly filled with the thoughts of why she even picked up a sword. An image of a little girl crying as she was forced to swing a sword flashed through her mind.
The scene made Xin Yan's heart tighten.
She couldn't help but think of how she was forced to practice the sword harder than anyone else. 'Why? Just because I had lower talent than others?'
The scene changed, showing a young girl, in her early teenage years, being beaten by her own peers. One could see the similarity in the appearances of both the little girl and the young girl.
They were both Xin Yan. They were both the naive girl who only knew how to follow what others told her to do and believe what her family told her.
'How laughable…' Xin Yan spoke in her mind, but her voice remained calm, unaffected by what she saw. 'That girl is no longer me, and the reason she picked up her sword no longer has anything to do with me.'
Xin Yan's mind went blank as another set of familiar scenes flashed through her mind.
The first was the scene where she first saw the face of her only son—the only ray of life she had in her already dead life.
Then, she watched as that light faded away right before her eyes.
'Never again, I don't want to face that pain ever again!' she swore, opening her blue draconic eyes. They shone with a blood-red tint as the water below her feet also turned red.
Xin Yan took a step forward as Noah's face flashed through her mind. 'I will never let anyone take away anything I hold dear! I will slaughter anyone who dares to get in the way of our happiness—our family!'
Slaughtering Sword Intent!
Xin Yan looked down and muttered to herself, recognizing the sword intent that resonated with her heart. The red threads flowing through the water below her feet were the intent reaching out to her.
As if asking her to walk on the path of slaughter.
'Ranked 6th in terms of strength on the Power Intent List,' Xin Yan thought as she recalled the information she once read.

Power Intent List!
A list on which each intent was ranked based on its power levels. Each user of the intent challenged others to rank their dao higher on the list.
Anyone who was given such an opportunity would not hesitate to assimilate with the sword's intent. Even though it was not ranked first, the list went on for thousands of ranks.
To be able to get the attention of something ranked 6th was a feat that would resonate throughout the whole immortal realm.
But Xin Yan did not immediately accept the dao as her own. She was not a merciless woman who was out for the blood of every living being.
Not only that, but Noah's parting words echoed in her heart as she took a step forward.
"I know that you always look for ways to help me, and I am sure you would have the heart to look for a sword intent that would do the same.
But Xin Yan, you should not just think of that as your path. I don't want you to spend your whole life just helping me from the sidelines.
If you only have this much ambition, you will never be able to keep up with my strength in the future, let alone reach my level of strength.
You will always live in my shadow." Xin Yan's heart shook as it did the first time she heard those words.
The thought of looking at Noah's back from far away but never being able to touch it or protect it made her feel pain no worse than when she lost Long Tian.
But when she recalled his next words, a smile warm enough to light up the whole realm appeared on her face.
"I don't want you to stay at home when I am out there adventuring. I don't want to keep you hidden like a precious vase that could shatter at a single touch.
Xin Yan, I want you to stand beside me, proud of your strength, securing my back as I prevent anyone from approaching yours."
What do you think?
