Chapter 9 - Put Me Down
“They’re really gone?”
“He took that girl away. Could she actually be accepted into the sect?”
“I’ve heard some people have unique talents that regular tests can miss. Maybe she’s one of them.”
“I knew it—her aura’s extraordinary. She’s no ordinary mortal.”
“Didn’t you just mock her?”
“…”
The crowd murmured among themselves.
The Qingyun disciple, who had been terrified moments ago, finally snapped out of it. Her face turned red as she pressed her legs together.
“Senior Sister, are you okay?”
Another Qingyun cultivator rushed over, sounding worried.
The woman took a deep breath, straightened up, and coughed. “N-No… I’m fine. I’ll be going now. You continue the testing.”
Without another word, she hurried away, her head lowered in embarrassment.
In this world, where men were usually weaker, even being a sect disciple couldn’t protect her pride. Getting scared stiff by a man—she couldn’t stay any longer.

High above, under the vast blue sky, a flying sword soared through the clouds.
Lin Qingyue clung tightly, her heart beating—not just from the height but also because of the person beside her.
She swallowed nervously. “Can you put me down?”
Her face burned as she spoke.
“Sure.”
Su Yan landed. He assumed she’d been spooked by him—however great she’d become later, she was just a mortal now.
Noticing her face flushed and tense, he feared she might, like that woman, soil his sword—hardly ideal.
Lin Qingyue had no clue what he was thinking. The moment they touched ground, she started walking off.
Su Yan called out, “Junior Sister, don’t go too far! This is wilderness—wild beasts could be trouble. Feel free to lift your skirt; I won’t look.”
Lin Qingyue blinked, baffled. Lift her skirt for what?
Su Yan added, “Weren’t you… uh, spooked into an urgent need?”
Her face turned bright red. “What are you talking about? I just wanted to leave!”
Realizing she wasn’t faking it, Su Yan quickly corrected himself. “My bad. I thought you were feeling dizzy from the flight. But if you’re in a hurry to leave—where are you going?”
Lin Qingyue let out a bitter smile. “Wherever my feet take me. The world is huge—there must be a place for me somewhere.”
Su Yan shrugged. “If you don’t have a destination, why not come with me? Be my junior sister, meet my master.”
Lin Qingyue hesitated. “Please don’t joke. I might actually believe you.”
Su Yan looked her in the eye. “Then believe me. I’m not joking.”
His voice was firm, completely serious.
Lin Qingyue stared at him, realizing she might have misunderstood something.
Her voice wavered. “You’re not lying? Everything you said back there… Yi Xian Sect really wants someone like me?”
Before Su Yan could respond, three options suddenly appeared before him.
[Option 1: Smirk wickedly and say, “Of course it’s not true—I’m just messing with you.” Then ditch your junior sister and abandon Bai Shuixin’s task. (Reward: High-Grade Spiritual Weapon, He Huan Bell)]
[Option 2: Look stunned and say to Little Junior Sister, “Wait, you didn’t actually buy that, did you?! No way the world’s that nice—I just thought you were hot and wanted to drag you off to get it on in the wild.” Then make good on it and hook up with her right there. (Reward: Mid-Grade Spiritual Weapon, Bronze Rod)]
[Option 3: “Look into my honest eyes—how could I deceive you?” (Reward: Spiritual Power +1)]
Su Yan paused, eyeing the choices. The first two were predictably awful, but something felt off.
By the system’s pattern, Option 1 was usually the deadliest, with the best reward.
This time, though, Option 2’s reward was weaker yet way more outrageous.
“One’s just teasing to mess with her; the other’s trying to hook up—definitely worse.”
Su Yan frowned, puzzled. The system shouldn’t glitch. Did Lin Qingyue see teasing as worse than hooking up?
“Right. This is a female-dominated world. Women don’t sweat purity. Maybe she’s into me too.”
It finally made sense—why the system judged it that way. And then, a tempting thought slipped in.
One quick moment for a spiritual weapon? If no one found out, what did he have to lose?
Men didn’t have to worry about "purity" showing. If she kept quiet, no one would ever know.
Su Yan glanced at his beautiful junior sister, hesitating for a few seconds. But in the end, he chose Option 3.
Sure, Option 2 had an amazing reward, but messing with his junior sister? He couldn’t bring himself to do it—besides…
“Bronze Rod? Sounds kinda… weird, doesn’t it?”
Muttering to himself, he looked up. “Look into my honest eyes—do I look like someone who would trick a stranger?”
Lin Qingyue stiffened at his words.
His eyes were so sincere—it didn’t seem like he was lying. But something felt off.
She had never met an immortal before, yet one traveled miles just to take her as a disciple? That didn’t sound believable.
Su Yan continued calmly, “You’re not a reject. You actually have great potential, that’s why the Master wants you.”
Lin Qingyue lowered her gaze. “Is that so? I see.”
But doubt lingered in her mind. How could someone so far away know her talent?
She didn’t fully believe it but didn’t press. His stance was clear—he wouldn’t let her go.
Fine then—she had her own thoughts.
He was a man. Even if he had ulterior motives, with their looks, she wouldn’t be the one losing out.
Her cheeks warmed at the idea.
Seeing her calm down, Su Yan asked, “Any other questions, Junior Sister?”
She shook her head.
“No questions? Then let’s head out.”
Su Yan smiled, taking her hand.
He’d noticed earlier—when he held her hand, a blush crept onto her face.
In this world where women reigned and men bowed, ladies unleashed themselves, typically marrying several husbands. A bashful girl like her was a rare.
If it were his senior sisters flying with him, they’d cling to him, rocking the sword wildly—not stay this composed.
“Hold tight.”
Her reserve endeared her to him. He had her grip his waist, careful not to fall.
“Huh? Oh!”
Before she could react, they were back on the sword.
What do you think?
