Chapter 938: Chapter 591, Blossoming Everywhere (Additional chapter for Alliance Hierarch ‘Tracks of Angels’)_2
The queen also got involved.
This competition, it seemed, was not going to be simple.
Everyone waited a bit longer in the banquet hall.
After the servant came to report that everything was ready,
everyone stood up, followed the queen out of the Royal Palace, and hurried toward the arena.
…
The Holy Combat Arena.
Established early on, it has been in use to this day.
From the outside, it’s a massive circular structure.
A place for the Lizardmen to compete.
The competitors were not just slaves performing for the nobility.
It was a place for testing one’s wrestling skills.
Every year, warriors who emerged from here would be recruited by the army and the Temple.
It served as a means of selecting talents.
Demitrija was led into the center of the arena.
On the platform above, were the queen and several ministers.
The surroundings were filled with residents and city dignitaries who had come to watch.
The arena was bustling.
In the afternoon, the sunlight was somewhat dazzling.
Demitrija calmly looked at ‘Leotozan’ opposite him, “The competition you speak of, is it just a performance for the others?”
The armor reflected the fierce sun overhead, casting blurry shadows.
“Performance? No, the people here cheer for the winner; it’s the quickest way to recognize a strong warrior,” said Leotozan, raising his hands towards the crowd.
“Leotozan…”
“Leotozan, Leotozan!”
Shouts rose from the stands, all the Lizardmen cheering for ‘Leotozan’.
Whether among the commoners or the nobles, ‘Leotozan’ had a high reputation.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t chant his name so unitedly.
The people above gestured to the ones below,
Asking if the two were ready.
The competitors nodded slightly and saluted the queen above the platform.
Thump!!
The sounding of the bell marked the start of the battle.
Both drew their weapons.
Leotozan wielded a majestic battle saber, while Demitrija retained his Longsword.
Seeing that both were prepared,
‘Leotozan’ with his saber in hand, stomped on the hard ground and quickly moved towards Demitrija.
His steps quickened, turning into a jog.
The blood-red combat boots stamped deep footprints into the ground.
The jog sped up to a charge.
Almost simultaneously, Demitrija also stopped standing still.
With a push from his feet, he launched rapidly forward, countering ‘Leotozan’ with a charge of his own.
Both were close combat orange heroes; their physiques far surpassed those of ordinary warriors.
In the blink of an eye, gold and red clashed together.
At the moment of contact, they both launched their attacks instantly.
‘Leotozan’ sunk his body, sweeping out his saber waist-high in a slashing motion.
The whistling of the blade kicked up dust from the ground.
Demitrija, with his Longsword horizontal, clanged! At the same time as the metallic clash,
he thrust the tip upwards, targeting the gap between the helmet and armor at the throat.
‘Leotozan’ tilted his head back abruptly, the sword tip grazing the edge of his helmet,
producing a harsh scraping sound.
Taking the opportunity, Demitrija pressed forward, his Longsword launching aggressive attacks.
Flashes of sword light passed, slashing and sweeping, one sword strike following another.
The sword tip targeted, the eyes on the helmet, gaps in the armor, both quick and fierce.
‘Leotozan’, too, possessed strong combat skills; red-scaled Lizardmen often excelled in close combat compared to the blue-scaled ones.
His saber was also swiftlysliced, catching each incoming move flawlessly.
In a flurry of wide swings and slashes, the saber targeted the opponent’s vital areas.
In an instant, the two were locked in fierce combat.
Sword glimmers and saber shadows arose amidst rising dust.
The spectators in the stands, however, were a bit bewildered.
They had expected an explosive fight.
Yet at the site, the situation was unclear,
neither movements nor techniques were visible, only the myriad sword glimmers and saber shadows surrounding the two, creating rolling air waves and a cloud of dust.
“Who can see clearly, tell us what’s happening.”
“Leotozan wields the saber, the one in golden armor the Longsword.”
“And then?”
“They clashed…”
…
Demitrija seized the moment.
As he slashed with his sword, he kicked his opponent in the chest, simultaneously retreating to pull back.
‘Leotozan’, hit by the kick, flew backwards, unstable, slipping down.
Demitrija pointed a finger, releasing “Heretic Mark”.
The next second, he instantly teleported in front of the reeling Lizardman in red armor, slashing down with his Longsword.
‘Leotozan”s pupils dilated.
With a furious shout, a wild aura spread around, a heatwave distorting the air and forcibly knocking Demitrija back.
Missing the opportunity, Demitrija did not rush to attack again.
The two positioned on opposite sides, cautiously watching each other.
Demitrija breathed slightly hard.
And ‘Leotozan’, with cold slit eyes, watched his opponent, his bright red tongue slipping from his thin lips to lick the blood that remained.
The audience fell silent.
No one shouted for ‘Leotozan’ anymore, instead watching the two competitors with some gravitas.
Although their movements were too fast to see clearly,
the situation on the field was still evident.
Clearly, the stranger in the golden armor was gaining the upper hand.
It seemed ‘Leotozan’ was also injured.
The fight continued.
Both players moved their feet cautiously, circling each other, gradually narrowing the distance.
Both took a deep breath at the same time.
Their chests began to bulge forward as one blue, one red, two energies surged up their necks.
What do you think?
