Chapter 93 - Thick Fog
Yang Yi had the most comfortable sleep he had ever experienced. No nightmares, no fear, no stimulation, just peaceful slumber.
When he woke up, it was already the next evening; he had slept for almost 24 hours.
Upon opening his eyes, he noticed the colours before him seemed more vibrant, though he wasn't sure if it was an illusion caused by sleeping for that long.
He grabbed the crystal ball to check the nautical chart and found that the Nightmare Star was still anchored at sea, not moving. It was about half a day’s journey from the White Mist.
Getting up, he leaned over to peek through a hole in the wall and saw that Suna was also still asleep.
The Twilight Veil remained deployed, keeping the Nightmare Star invisible.
Yang Yi suddenly felt an intense hunger — understandable after more than 24 hours without food.
He quickly put on his gear, pushed open the captain's cabin door, and stepped onto the deck.
It was nighttime, and the sea was pitch black.
Only the ghostly flames wandering around the deck provided some light.
Yang Yi glanced at the weather; it was about the same as before — around -20°C with a level 2 wind.
In about two hours, it would be daytime.
He went to the ship’s hold and grabbed three loaves of black bread, a sausage, and a moderate amount of fresh water and salt. Then he lit the campfire at the bow, set up a pot, and cooked a pot of bread porridge.
This time, he didn’t add jellyfish mucus. While it wasn’t exactly delicious, at least the taste was normal.
After drinking an appetite-enhancing potion, he finished all the porridge and began checking his status.

All stats were full, and his base agility was about to reach 6.
Moreover, after his constitution increased to 6, Yang Yi felt his stamina became more enduring.
Although still at 100, it functioned like a percentage, meaning his total endurance had improved.
Thus, he planned to gradually intensify his training, especially in safe waters, to greatly enhance his attributes!
After reviewing the panel, Yang Yi retracted the Twilight Veil and began steering the Nightmare Star forwards.
The sea breeze was icy, but with the campfire for warmth, it wasn’t too unbearable.
By dawn, the Nightmare Star should reach the White Mist area.
Suna would likely wake up by then, and they could explore the White Mist together, assess the internal environment to fully prepare before going deeper.
Three hours later, the sky suddenly brightened, which was unusual since dawn was still some time away! Additionally, a faint mist appeared and gradually thickened.
It wasn’t drifting in from the surroundings, but rising from the sea itself.
Yang Yi immediately became alert, standing up with both hands gripping his weapon, scanning the area.
Within seconds, the dense fog engulfed the Nightmare Star, obscuring the sea and reducing visibility to just a few metres.
Only near the ship’s bow, aided by the campfire, was visibility slightly better. Moreover, the temperature began to drop.
Standing by the campfire, Yang Yi, dressed in woolen fire-resistant clothing, actually felt a chill.
The environment turned eerily quiet. Although the wind blew, the sound of waves was strangely absent, as if something were blocking it.
Yang Yi removed his blindfold and switched to the Third Eye.
"No fog?"
He was stunned.
In the Third Eye’s vision, the white mist didn’t exist. The sea was just as it always was, with nothing unusual.
He closed the blindfold and checked the weather interface.
Today's Weather:
Fog has set in, and temperatures will drop further. Fish catches will continue to decrease. Be cautious of colliding with icebergs due to poor visibility!
Location: Extreme Northern Sea
Daylight Duration: Polar DayTemperature: -25°C to -18°CWind Force: Level 2“Polar day…” Yang Yi muttered to himself.
He felt conflicted because what he saw with his two eyes was contradictory.
In the Third Eye's vision, there was no white fog. In his normal eyesight, thick white fog blanketed the surroundings.
But Yang Yi trusted the Third Eye more, believing this fog didn’t truly exist. After all, it had never been wrong or missed anything before!
Once he confirmed again with the Third Eye that there were no abnormalities on the sea, Yang Yi stopped the Nightmare Star.
He walked to Suna’s door and knocked.
“Suna, wake up! Something’s happening on the sea!”
Soon, there was the rustling sound of clothes, and the door opened.@@novelbin@@
“What’s—” Before Suna could finish, she noticed the thick fog over the sea — a vast, white expanse.
Yang Yi quickly explained what had happened.
“The crystal ball?” Suna asked.
“Useless. The nautical chart in the crystal ball is also blank. It no longer displays the sea chart — only our position and direction.”
“And your Third Eye can’t see this fog?”
“Exactly!” Yang Yi confirmed.
Suna frowned, puzzled, and seemed to be thinking. She acted swiftly, using a glass bottle to collect some of the fog.
Yes, the fog could be collected since it rose directly from the sea and could even be stored in a bottle.
She took a deep sniff but detected no unusual odor — just the salty, fishy scent of the sea and a hint of chill.
In the meantime, Yang Yi checked the chat channel.
He discovered many players were encountering the same phenomenon, and their numbers were rapidly increasing.
“Why did it suddenly get bright, and why is there thick fog? Is this happening where you are?”
“Don’t scare me! I got up and checked — nothing like that here.”
“It brightened up here too, and there’s fog! So cold!”
“Check the weather interface! Daylight duration changed to polar day! And there’s thick fog and a temperature drop!”
“Damn, the fog seems to be rising from the sea!”
“Share your coordinates if you’re seeing the fog — doesn’t need to be exact. Mine is XXXXX:XXXXX.”
“Same here…”
After checking their coordinates, Yang Yi could conclude that the white fog was spreading very quickly.
Even players who had said it was still dark soon corrected themselves as it became bright and turned into a polar day.
At such a rate, in less than half an hour, the entire Extreme Northern Sea would be engulfed in the white fog.
[System Announcement]:
A rare polar day phenomenon has appeared in the Extreme Northern Waters, accompanied by thick fog and a temperature drop. Please prepare for the cold.
Additionally, due to the dense fog, the Ocean Map function will be temporarily disabled and will only display your current coordinates.
This announcement appeared simultaneously in every player’s log, making the chat channel explode.
“Damn system! Always pulling surprises and sneak attacks!”
“Can’t see anything! If I crash into an iceberg, it’s GG!”
“Damn it, there’s black fog behind me too! If I had left earlier, I wouldn’t be in this mess! Now I can’t even tell how far it is!”
“...”
Yang Yi withdrew his gaze and sat at the bow, staring at the sea.
He had a feeling that something was lurking within the fog.
Other players likely felt the same way.
