Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 534 512 (1.0) Journey to the West

Who was Sun Wukong's master after all?

What was the purpose of the Seven Great Sages' oath of brotherhood?

What exactly is the flesh of Tang Monk?

What are the mysteries of Zhu Bajie's past and present lives?

For whom are the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas truly exerting their efforts?

Can the power of the Demon Clan match that of Heaven and the Buddhist Realm?

People often say that fate toys with us, but what exactly is fate?

Chapter One Not Learning the Seventy-two Transformations

"I have a celestial formula here, the Thirty-six Transformations; there is also an earthly formula, the Seventy-two Transformations. Which one do you want to learn?" The master had said this much, and for some reason, a slight smile appeared on his face.

Without a second thought, Wukong replied, "Disciple will learn the celestial formula."

The master frowned slightly, surprised he said, "Why not learn the one with more transformations?"

Chapter Two The Lost Ruyi Jingu Bang

"The Canon of Magical Treasures" specifically discusses the strange treasures of heaven and earth and the Immortals' magical instruments since ancient times. The Purple Gold Gourd, the Mutton Fat Jade Bottle, the Vajra Carver, the Banana Fan, the Golden Treasure Pagoda... all are listed in this book.

Ranked first is the Pangu Axe, not mentioned in "Journey to the West," presumably lost to the world. To Wukong's great disappointment, the Ruyi Jingu Bang was ranked only eighty-first, after Erlang God's Three-Pointed Double-Edged Sword and Hong Hai'er's Fire-tipped Spear. And even more perplexing, the Nine-ring Monk's Staff was ranked within the top twenty. This item, given to Tang Monk by Guanyin and used by him merely as a walking stick from beginning to end, with no other apparent function, had such a high ranking, truly a mystery.

Chapter Three Tathagata Builds the Five Villas View

"The Monk helped me build a large estate," he said. "This is not an estate but a Daoist temple. You will remain a Daoist from now on and watch over this tree for me here." I felt extremely uncomfortable, it was clearly my tree, but in an instant, it had become his. He said, "You and this tree are fated, and I will not snatch it away, but the fruit on the tree is mine!"

I felt like crying but had no tears; I felt as if I had become a watch dog. The Monk also gave me a name: Zhen Yuanzi.

Chapter Four Yang Jian Vowing to Revere Only the Three Pure Ones and Not Heaven

"In life and death, I will revere only the Three Pure Ones, and not Heaven!"

Wukong listened to this oath with secret joy, it seemed that the relationship between Heaven and Yang Jian was quite delicate. Although Yang Jian was a disciple of the Supreme Elder Lord's disciple Jade Ding Real Man, he inherently agreed with the principle "education without distinction," much like my own. Except Yang Jian was human, and I, Sun Wukong, am a genuine demon; by comparison, he had the upper hand.

Chapter Five The Eight Great Saints Gather at Flower Fruit Mountain

Bull Demon King said, "My eight brothers and I have always been as close as limbs and life itself, unhappy without spending our days together drinking and making merry. If we only invite one or two up to Heaven, frequent visits may disturb the peace of Heaven, how shall we manage this?"

Upon hearing this, The Platinum Star of the White Emperor felt perplexed. The Jade Emperor had explicitly ordered him to bring the demons of Flower Fruit Mountain and the Bull Demon up to Heaven. With the Jade Emperor's words being as binding as gold, who would dare to alter them on a whim?

Chapter Six The Jade Emperor's Scheming for Defeat

Lifting his robe sleeve, the Jade Emperor grabbed a few grapes and ate them, saying, "Strong demons have arisen in the Lower Realm, and Li Jing has gone with his troops. What do you think, victory or defeat?"

The Queen Mother of the West blinked her watery eyes and giggled, "Even if things go poorly, it wouldn't come to a defeat. Though Li Jing is incompetent, his son is very shrewd and capable."

The Jade Emperor then asked, "Never mind that; just tell me, should they win or lose at this moment?"

Caught off guard, the Queen Mother of the West said without hesitation, "Of course, they should be defeated, the more miserably, the better."

Chapter Seven The Truce

In "Journey to the West," by the end, the Seven Great Sages had fallen apart, Bull Demon King, Nine-Headed King of Spirits, Great Golden-winged Peng, all became enemies of Sun Wukong on the pilgrimage route. The whereabouts of the other half were unknown. It all came down to Sun Wukong naively accepting Heaven's truce, which had hurt everyone's heart. Sun Wukong's initial acceptance of the truce made him the 'Protector of the Horses,' which the other Six Great Saints could barely tolerate. Seeing that they had repelled the celestial soldiers and Wukong had proclaimed himself the Great Saint, just as their enterprise was about to succeed, Wukong's heart to ascend to Heaven was not dead, and he accepted a second truce, how could they bear it?

A day in Heaven, a year on Earth. Wukong had eaten peaches in Heaven for a hundred and ten days; a hundred years had already passed on Earth. Who could have the patience to wait for a fickle and heartless monkey?

Chapter Eight Escaping from Tathagata's Palm

Wukong rode the clouds swiftly towards Tathagata's palm, and looking back, he could no longer see those five fingers. Crossing the palm, and moving forward, he was near Tathagata's wrist. He had actually entered a mistaken train of thought, just considering the edge of the palm, perhaps the fingers might be where the flaw lay, but in fact, the most easily overlooked was this wrist where it connected to the body.

The wrist connected to the palm, even if he'd left the palm, he feared he would still be trapped within Tathagata's robe sleeve, but this most dangerous place might just be the only way out.

Chapter Nine Falling into the Realm of Supreme Elder Lord

In the Tai Chi Diagram, the Yin fish had thirty-one countries, including Country of Lost Trust, Heart-deceiving Country, Delusional Country, Thievery Country, Luxurious Country... Scenes of the original sin and base nature of humanity unfolded. And where the black dot lay in the Yin fish, there was a country of gentlemen, whose people were honest and straightforward, kind and charitable.

Within the Yang fish were thirty-one countries, countries like Daring Country, Ever-happy Country, Diligent Country, Wise-thinking Country, Great Kindness Country... The people were knowledgeable, kind-hearted, and simple. Yet, within the white with a black dot was a place called the Great Evil Country, whose people were the epitome of the Yin fish's thirty-one countries vices, and despite being in the midst of many virtuous countries, could not adopt a shred of civilization or etiquette.

Chapter Ten The Realm of Slaughter of Lingbao Daozun

There are five continents within the Realm of Slaughter; the east has the Decayed Wood Continent, the south has the Remnant Fire Continent, the west is called the Severed Metal Continent, the north is known as the Chipped Water Continent, and the central is called the Evil Land Continent. Here, Wukong unexpectedly meets Hong Hai'er, the Nine-headed Worm, and the Six-Eared Macaque.
