Great Villain: Starting by Humiliating the Son of the Heavenly Fate

Chapter 30: Sharing a Moment with Ning Xian

The moment Jiang Chen spoke, Lin Feng felt a rush of anger. He was in the middle of a conversation with Ning Xian; when did Jiang Chen get the right to butt in?

Moreover, after hearing what Jiang Chen said, Lin Feng no longer wanted Ning Xian to leave. The reason Ning Xian was included in the first place was because of Qiu Liaoxi’s favor towards Du Bailei. If Ning Xian left, it would be difficult for Qiu Liaoxi to choose treasures on her behalf.

By suggesting that Ning Xian should leave, wasn’t he essentially making her give up this chance?

Ning Xian was also reluctant to pass up this opportunity, especially considering the limited resources at their Vast Spirit House. She proposed, "What if you go back first, Lin Feng? Master and I will catch up after we’ve picked out the treasures."

"You really need some spiritual plants right now. Just tell me what you’re looking for, and I’ll help you pick them!" she offered eagerly. However, Lin Feng was more focused on sharing his thoughts with Ning Xian at this moment than on getting any treasure.

Yet, Ning Xian’s response seemed to dismiss his intentions. Lin Feng felt a twinge of disappointment.

Shaking his head, he said resignedly, "No, it’s okay. Ning Xian, just choose what you need. I’ll go back first." He then turned and walked away from the group, his figure radiating a sense of loneliness.

However, not many people noticed him. The expected showdown and dramatic confrontation had been interrupted by Jiang Chen, leaving hardly anyone to acknowledge Lin Feng.

"Kids these days..." Watching Lin Feng walk away, Qiu Liaoxi decided to offer him some advice when the chance came up.

Meanwhile, a series of notifications echoed in Jiang Chen’s mind.

[Ding! You’ve successfully altered the plot, cutting down protagonist Lin Feng’s opportunities. Lin Feng’s Heavenly Fate Value has dropped by 300 points!]

[Ding! You’ve earned 500 points of Villain Value!]

When Jiang Chen heard these alerts, he was briefly surprised but quickly understood what was happening. It was clear that at this trade fair, Lin Feng was meant to have more opportunities. However, now that he was leaving, upset and disheartened, he had obviously missed out on this chance.

At that moment, Du Bailei announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, the trading fair is about to start, please follow me." He personally led Jiang Chen’s party.

The group then arrived at a lavish building facing the public square, which was designated as the VIP lounge. Below the building, a large platform had been set up. The trading fair, including auctions, exchanges, bulk trade negotiations, and more, would take place on this platform.

Quickly, the group was ushered into the most luxurious VIP room. Once everyone had taken their seats, Jiang Chen found himself sitting next to Ning Xian.

Soon after, the waitstaff came in with a selection of spiritual fruits and fine foods.

Girls usually like snacks, and Ning Xian was no different. Plus, her life at Vast Spirit House wasn’t exactly lavish, so she was quickly taken by these treats.

For Jiang Chen, these snacks were nothing special, but he easily picked out the best ones, noticing their special qualities. He then offered some to Ning Xian to try.

In just a short time, the mood became very friendly.

Shortly, Du Bailei mentioned he needed to check on other guests and excused himself for a bit. Jiang Xingtai’s eyes lit up, and he quickly stood up, offering to go with Du Bailei.

With both key figures gone, the senior members from the White Mountain Chamber of Commerce also left.

Then, Jiang Xingtai signaled Qiu Liaoxi. He said they were about to meet some of the top alchemists in Autumn Glory City and wanted to introduce her. Qiu Liaoxi had no choice but to agree to the invitation.

Seeing this, Jiang Chen couldn’t help but silently give his uncle a mental thumbs up!

Why? Because now, everyone else had left, leaving only him and Ning Xian in the room.

The atmosphere became quietly tense. Since Ning Xian wasn’t used to being alone with a man, she felt a bit uncomfortable. Luckily, Jiang Chen knew a lot of anecdotes and jokes from his life on Earth. He tweaked them a bit to fit in with the local culture of cultivation, and soon the mood was much lighter.

Ning Xian was surprised to find that Jiang Chen was so well-spoken, smart, and entertaining. She didn’t expect to enjoy their conversation so much and got totally caught up in it without even realizing. The more time they spent together, the more fun their interaction became.

Before long, system alerts rang out in Jiang Chen’s mind, acknowledging his consistent efforts.

[Ding! Ning Xian’s favorability towards you has increased, and Lin Feng’s Heavenly Fate Value has dropped by 200 points!]

[Ding! You’ve earned 300 points of Villain Value!]

As Jiang Chen heard these notifications, his excitement increased, and his jokes flowed even more smoothly, making Ning Xian laugh nonstop.

At the same time, Jiang Chen felt a bit lucky. Although Ning Xian was smart, she was still quite innocent and easily amused...

After a while, Du Bailei, Jiang Xingtai, Qiu Liaoxi, and others returned to the VIP room.

As they all came in, Ning was glowing with happiness. A blush crept across her lovely face when she saw them arrive, but she quickly regained her composure.

Qiu Liaoxi noticed this and couldn’t resist sneaking a few looks at Jiang Chen.

Just then, an announcement echoed through the room, signaling the start of the auction.

’Auction! Lin Feng must have secured an extra chance at this auction!’ Jiang Chen reflected, his mind racing with the possibilities.

’I need to stay alert and figure out what this opportunity is!’ he mused, feeling a mix of anticipation and frustration at the abundance of opportunities the protagonist seemed to have.

Ever since Lin Feng was kicked out of the sect, how many chances had he stumbled upon in just under two weeks? If Jiang Chen hadn’t been there to interfere or take them, Lin Feng might have already reached the Spiritual Awakening realm by now.

Then, the auction officially started, and one item after another was presented, each with its starting price revealed before the bidding kicked off.

"The first item is a Spiritual Awakening-level spiritual plant, the Earth Star Cyan Duckweed, aged 300 years! The starting bid is 10,000 low-grade spirit stones!" announced an elegant middle-aged male auctioneer.

"I bid 10,000!" a bidder called out from the crowd.

"How dare you offer such a low bid! I bid 10,500!" another voice rang out with a hint of contempt.

"20,000 low-grade spirit stones!" shouted a different participant, raising the stakes.

"This Earth Star Cyan Duckweed is crucial for me. In the spirit of generosity, I bid 30,000 low-grade spirit stones!" a bidder pleaded earnestly.

"Treasures are destined for those who can afford them, not just for those who need them the most. I bid 35,000 low-grade spirit stones!" another countered sharply.

"..."

The first spiritual plant sparked an intense bidding battle among those present, electrifying the atmosphere. Before long, the Earth Star Cyan Duckweed was sold for a whopping 39,500 low-grade spirit stones.

Then, the auction moved on to the second item, followed by the third, and so on.

’Lin Feng needs fire-attributed spiritual plants.’ Jiang Chen thought to himself, ’I’ll keep a sharp eye on this!’

’Moreover, Lin Feng should have gotten a deal at this auction. Even though I’m not great at identifying items, I have my System. If the name the auctioneer announces is different from what’s in the System Mall, it’s likely the White Mountain Chamber of Commerce got it wrong.’

’If that happens, I’ll buy it on the spot,’ he silently decided, a slight smile slowly appearing on his face.

...

At the same time, in the public square, Lin Feng was seen with clenched fists, his fingernails digging into his palms, turning them white. The veins on the back of his hands and arms stood out sharply. He was overwhelmed with feelings of grievance, disappointment, and rage!

Before, Lin Feng could only scream in his mind. But now, away from familiar faces, he couldn’t hold back a muffled roar, "Curse you, Jiang Chen! Aargh, why, why!" Yet, even with this outburst, the fiery anger in his heart was hard to quell.

So, Lin Feng decided to let out his frustration in a more secluded spot. Taking a deep breath, he quickly headed towards the city’s outskirts.

Soon, he found himself in a forest just outside the city.
