Chapter 347: No Choice But to Obey
Mo Hao couldn’t care less about what the crowd was thinking. Realization flashed across his face, and he spoke with certainty.
"So it was you! You were watching me the moment I entered the city!"
He didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, he sneered. "Heh, you sure know how to talk big, don’t you?" But then, his expression darkened, his tone sharp. "Glorious Obsidian City is drowning in injustice, yet you’ve done nothing. The Immortal Martial Continent is under attack by demons—have you even tried to stop it? No! It was Jiang Chen who stood against them!"
He knew it was too late now. His perfect moment, his chance to shine, to show off his strength and earn Pretentious Points in the tens of thousands—it was gone. Just like that.
And he hated it.
Hidden within the mist, Shangguan Ning’s voice came, calm yet merciless. "Yes, that man was despicable." With a mere wave of her hand, Young Master Gou turned to ashes, erased from existence. "But people like him? They’re everywhere. The strong rule over the weak—that’s just how the world works. Who can truly put an end to that?"
Mo Hao opened his mouth, ready to fire back, but Shangguan Ning wasn’t finished.
"And yet, here you are, whining about petty injustices while the entire Immortal Martial Continent faces total destruction. Tell me, Mo Hao—who’s really turning a blind eye? Isn’t that just laughable?"
"Hmph!" Mo Hao scoffed, his tone dripping with defiance. "And what makes you think my actions aren’t meant to save the Immortal Martial Continent?"
He straightened, chin lifted. "I came here for one reason—to grow stronger. If I want to save the continent, I need power, and this is the path I’ve chosen."
Shangguan Ning let out a cold laugh. "What a joke. You actually think this is making you stronger?"
Disdain laced her words. "Killing a few spoiled noble brats is going to save the Immortal Martial Continent? That’s beyond ridiculous."
She didn’t stop there. "If you spent even a single day in proper cultivation instead of running around stirring up trouble, you’d be far more useful. But no—you’d rather waste your time on theatrics."
Her meaning was clear. Mo Hao wasn’t a warrior of justice. He was a loudmouth, a Transcendence realm cultivator who was doing absolutely nothing of worth.
Mo Hao’s temper flared. "You dare lecture me?" His words turned sharp. "You, a woman with beauty but no brains? There are things in this world you can’t even begin to understand!"
He took a step forward, arrogance radiating from him. "Do you really think someone of my stature—"
"Silence."
Shangguan Ning’s command cut through the air like a blade, carrying an undeniable weight. "Speak another word, and I won’t hesitate to lock you away for some proper cultivation."
As she spoke, a ripple of power pulsed around her—a subtle but unmistakable trace of spatial energy.
Mo Hao’s breath caught in his throat. His arrogance wavered as realization hit.
Spatial power…?
His eyes widened in disbelief. Everyone knew—mastering spatial energy wasn’t something a typical Transcendence realm cultivator could do.
Even among the elite, those who had even the slightest control over spatial laws were considered rare geniuses.
Prodigies like that? They were nearly unheard of—even on the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star.
Damn it! Mo Hao clenched his fists. How is the Immortal Martial Continent still producing monsters like this?
At the same time, a troubling thought wormed its way into his mind. Could Jiang Chen know this woman? Did he send her here to block my path?
But just as quickly, he shook off the suspicion.
No, it didn’t make sense. If Jiang Chen had truly been after him, he wouldn’t have let him slip away back at the Cave Heaven. He would’ve crushed him like an insect long ago.
Taking a slow breath, Mo Hao lifted his head, his eyes turning sharp once more.
"You know Jiang Chen, don’t you?" His words were cold, edged with accusation. "He’s the one who told me to travel the world and grow stronger. If you’re here to interfere—save your breath. Stay out of my way."

Shangguan Ning let out a soft laugh, tilting her head as if amused. "Jiang Chen?" she echoed, her expression unreadable. "You could say he’s my disciple."
Following the unseen script Jiang Chen had set in motion, she continued, a hint of mystery in her words. "He probably thinks I’m dead, but in truth, I walked through the Gate of Death… and came back."
A faint sigh escaped her lips. "That boy has become reckless. Does he really think he can guard the spatial node alone?"
Then her gaze locked onto Mo Hao, all amusement vanishing. "From this moment on, you will head to the Bottomless Abyss and help Jiang Chen defend the spatial node. If I catch you wasting time or wandering around aimlessly… I won’t be merciful."
Before Mo Hao could even respond, Shangguan Ning’s figure flickered—and then, she was gone. The Death Calamity Dark Star Moon Dao Embryo Bloodline had concealed her completely, erasing her presence as if she had never been there.
Mo Hao stiffened, a wave of frustration boiling inside him.
She’s gone! Damn that old hag!
His fists clenched as bitter resentment swelled in his chest.
Now, with someone even stronger than Jiang Chen keeping an eye on him, any chance of showing off—any moment of basking in his own greatness—was completely shattered.
Mo Hao let out a long, frustrated sigh. Guess I have no choice but to wait out the one-month period.
By then, once I report my findings about the Immortal Martial Continent, they’ll have no reason to keep me here. I’ll be free to return to the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star—where I can finally indulge in my grand displays without interference.
A smirk crept onto his face. Heh, when that time comes, I’ll never set foot in this wretched place again!
With that thought, he spun around and barked at Li Juren, "Contact Jiang Chen for me!"
"Yes! Right away!" Li Juren stammered, nodding frantically, his entire body trembling.

As the system notifications echoed in Jiang Chen’s sea of consciousness, Mo Hao, now in contact with him, stepped through the spatial channel that Jiang Chen had opened, entering the Immortal Martial Cave Heaven.
Moments later, Jiang Chen transported him to the Purple Heaven Holy Land, then led him straight into the Bottomless Abyss.
Jiang Chen had already returned to the Immortal Martial Cave Heaven long before this. After taking a slight detour, he reached the Bottomless Abyss ahead of Mo Hao.
...
Deep underground, in a space where reality itself felt fragile and unstable, Jiang Chen eyed Mo Hao, whose face was dark with frustration.
"What are you doing back? Weren’t you off on some grand adventure?" Jiang Chen asked, raising an eyebrow. He looked puzzled—but in truth, he was holding back laughter.
Mo Hao let out an annoyed "Hmph!"
"I was stopped by your master!" he grumbled, his face filled with resentment.
Of course, what Mo Hao didn’t realize was that the very person who had blocked his path… was standing right in front of him.
Jiang Chen’s expression shifted to pure shock. "What! My master is still alive?"
He paused for a moment, then furrowed his brow. "I buried her myself. She died from injuries after a Qi Deviation… How could she be back?"
Then, as if realization hit him, his face lit up with excitement. "Mo Hao, where is she? I have to find her!"
Mo Hao waved him off, clearly irritated. "Forget it! She gave strict orders—we’re staying here to guard this spatial node. We’re not going anywhere!" He crossed his arms, then glanced at Jiang Chen sideways. "Unless… you can sneak me out so I can explore?"
Jiang Chen sighed and shrugged, playing along. "Yeah, that sounds like her. Still as domineering as ever."
His lips curled into a teasing smile. "But if she gave the order, then no can do. You’re stuck here."
He chuckled, then added, "So? You got a little adventure in this time. Did you gain anything?"
Mo Hao let out another "Hmph!" and looked away. "I got something, but it’s none of your business."
Jiang Chen smirked. "Heh, you’re getting more interesting by the day."
Then, as if remembering something, he snapped his fingers. "Oh, and what about our bet? How are we settling that?"
Mo Hao scowled. "Obviously, it’s off! Your master ruined everything!" @@novelbin@@
His eyes darkened slightly as he muttered, "Just remember—curiosity killed the cat. Don’t play with fire."
And with that, he said no more.
To Mo Hao, Jiang Chen was a dangerous wildcard—there was no telling if he’d turn on him later.
And then there was Jiang Chen’s so-called master. Another troublesome figure.
With her in the picture, Mo Hao’s opinion of Jiang Chen had sunk even lower.
It’s better to just wait out the one-month period and get back to the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, he thought. There was no point in staying here, especially if he couldn’t even show off like he wanted to.
Until then, he wasn’t planning to make a single move.
Jiang Chen seemed to sense his thoughts but didn’t dwell on them. Instead, he nodded slightly and changed the subject. "Alright then. Let me ask you something—do you know if there are any restrictions when traveling from the Immortal Martial Continent to the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star?"
What do you think?
