Yu Sa and her family watched Yu Dong swipe her hands back and forth as she harvested the rice. They wanted to slack off but with Yu Dong and the mammies breathing down their necks, they did not dare to slack off at all!
"This is hell!" Yu Sa muttered as she arched her old waist and turned to look at Old Madam Yu. She wanted to complain about how Yu Dong was making them work even though they were old. But as soon as she turned to look at Old Madam Yu, she saw that the old woman was galloping through the rice paddies as if she had drunk ambrosia.
Yu Sa: "…." I am ashamed.
Being shown the mirror by her youngest sister, Yu Sa could only lower her head and continue working hard. Even if she were to complain now, Yu Dong would not listen to her!
Seeing that their grandmother was working hard, the rest of the Yu family could only lower their heads and continue working as well. @@novelbin@@
However, Yu Qinian and Yu Binghuan were having a hard time harvesting the rice. They had never harvested rice in their life and with continuous hours of work, the two of them were this close to rebelling.
While the two sisters were close to rebelling, there was someone who had already rebelled. It was none other than Li Tianhui.
She was lying in her bed while yawning on the side of the bed stood Old Master Tong as he looked down at his young wife.
"Did you not hear what Yu Dong said? There will be a locust plague. So why are you not working in the fields?" He asked the woman who was lying on the bed as if it was a normal day.
Li Tianhui yawned once again. She closed her eyes and then turned her back to Old Master Tong before saying, "I know but I don’t think that there will be a locust plague. Did you not see that the sky is clear? Most probably the black spot was a cloud or something of the sort."
"Not to mention our rice is still green. If we harvest it now then we will suffer a loss. With such green rice, we can neither eat nor sell it. Why should we harvest it?"
Old Master Tong frowned. He admitted that the sky was indeed clear but Yu Dong had never been wrong before. If that woman’s prediction was right then they were the ones who would suffer a rather big loss.
"I still think that we should harvest the rice," said Old Master Tong with furrowed brows. "It’s better to harvest the rice and have something to eat rather than risk everything on the line."
"I am not going! If you want then you can go and harvest," snorted Li Tianhui. "Of course, if there is no locust plague then don’t even think of eating the ripened rice and just eat the green rice that you have harvested."
The only person who was working in the Yu family was Yu Linyun but that woman was also looking for ways to avoid responsibility. Last she heard that the woman had purchased a new mer as her bed slave.
Because of this, Yu Linyun was making all sorts of excuses and the money in their family was getting lower and lower.
They did not have much money left in their hands at the moment and Li Tianhui was relying on the rice paddies to earn a few taels. If they were harvested when they were not even ripe then what would they eat? How would they survive?
"Fine!" Old Master Tong suddenly felt helpless. He did not understand how and why his good life suddenly turned into such a mess. He was living such a wonderful life, and now everything was in a mess.
In the past, he never had to step in the rice paddies as Old Madam Yu was a rather chivalrous woman. She did not let her husbands work in the fields and only asked them to take care of the house.
However, Li Tianhui was not only useless but she was also lazy.
"If there is a locust plague then don’t even think of getting a bite from the unripe rice! Just starve to death!" Old Master Tong snapped. He walked out of the room leaving Li Tianhui behind who rolled her eyes and then went to sleep again.
While Old Master Tong was headed to harvest the rice alone, Old Master Rong was stubbornly sitting in his house.
He refused to believe that there was anything wrong with the weather or that there was going to be a locust plague. More importantly, he was certain that it was Yu Dong and Rong Yi who caused the death of his daughter.
He might not be certain where his daughter went that night but he was clear about one thing. She must have gone to the Yu Family as that family was the only one with a lot of money!
However, he had no evidence to prove that his daughter was killed by those bastards.
"It has to be that bitch Rong Yi! She must have done it!"Old Master Rong said with red-rimmed eyes, these days he was either crying or scolding Rong Yi. "She must be the one who killed my daughter. Even if she didn’t kill him, she must be related to her death."
"That witch watched her sister getting killed and she did nothing! Dear Heavens why don’t you strike that woman to death! Let her die! Wahh! My daughter! My precious daughter, she suffered so much."
These days Old Master Rong had nightmares every night where he would hear his daughter cry and ask why he did not come to save him and continued sleeping.
If only he had known!

"Enough!" Old Madam Rong roared as she threw her smoke pipe at Old Master Rong’s head. "So what if they killed her, so what if they did not? You knew that she was leaving the house and going somewhere, why did you not stop her? If you had stopped her nothing like this would have happened."
Old Madam Rong was also filled with regret. If only she knew that her daughter was leaving the house at such a late hour, she would have stopped her at all costs.
But what was the point of regret? Was it going to bring her daughter back?
