"What are you doing!?" Guard Ren could not watch Yu Cheng getting beaten until he was half dead while she was standing on the side. She turned to look at the guards who followed her and motioned them to stop Yu Linyun.

As she spoke she turned and looked at Yu Dong furtively.

Yu Dong raised a brow. She seemed to have cottoned on to the small play that Yu Linyun was playing in front of her. Even though she did not say anything directly, Yu Linyun pointed out two main things——

"He must have been provoked by someone, with his little guts, do you think that he will be able to do such a thing? I will teach him better in the future, Dong Dong. I promise you that he will become a better man in the future. Can… Can you give him a second chance? I promise that he will never do anything like that ever again."

Her apology was as sincere as it could have been but Yu Dong found it funny. She was already expecting such a thing to happen when she saw Yu Linyun hitting Yu Cheng. That woman was doing it all for the sake of making herself look better but at the same time, she wanted to suppress her into pulling her complaints back such that Yu Cheng would not have to go to prison.

She had to admit that Yu Linyun was really smart. But she forgot one thing, Yu Dong did not play by the rules. She had never played by the rules, and maybe never would either.

Yu Dong smiled brightly before saying, "Isn't that the reason why I let him go when he tried to rob my house? I being his cousin and a good leader of the house, did not even breathe a word about what he had done…and yet he went ahead and set my fields on fire."

She opened her eyes ever so slightly before saying to Yu Linyun, "If I let him go wouldn't he think that it's fine to do whatever he wants as you are protecting him?"

"Have you forgotten because of your son my husbands were terrified that night as I was not home and it was because of him that I lost more than a million tael of silver. You want me to forgive and forget? Aren't you asking for a rather grand thing?"
