Chapter 1550 Yu Tong and Ji Chuan
"Of course," Old Madam Ji agreed. Even the sharpness in her eyes softened when she saw that Yu Dong was respecting the opinions of the mers in her family. At least her grandson would be happy and content in this family.
Yu Dong heaved a sigh of relief and so did Yu Tong. The two sisters were worried that Old Madam Ji would also pressurise them like Headmistress Ji.
However, this elderly woman was much more easy to talk to when compared to her daughter.
"You can discuss this matter with the two mers. We are alright with that but I hope that you will give my family a positive answer in a week," Old Madam Ji would not have come to the Yu family to talk about Ji Chuan's marriage if she hadn't heard Ji Chuan say that if he had to marry he would rather marry Yu Tong.
She had also investigated Yu Tong and found her likeable. She had a decent salary and was already building a house for her and her husbands, next to her sister's.
Not only was she financially stable but she also respected mers and elders. A woman like her was hard to find, and given that her grandson was an ambitious mers who wanted to open his own shops, Yu Tong might be a perfect match.
'She might be even a better match than Lady Liu,' thought Old Madam Ji. That woman listened to Ji Shixun's one-sided foolish story and ended up breaking the engagement.
Ji Chuan and Liu Changnu had known each other for more than ten years. It would be right to say that they grew up wearing each other's nappies as their daddies were good friends with one another.
And yet when Liu Changnu should have stayed by Ji Chaun's side without a doubt, she went ahead and betrayed him.
Compared to that woman who had little to no backing to her claims and could easily be fooled, Yu Tong seemed like a better option. And even there was some problem with her character ——
Old Madam Ji turned to look at Yu Dong who was steadier and calm. Her glance then turned to Shen Li and the rest of the mers, one glance and anyone could see that the mers were treated well in this household.
Yu Tong also seemed to listen to Yu Dong, thus Old Madam Ji was not worried about her grandson being bullied.
"Of course," Yu Dong agreed without hesitation. "This is a sensitive matter so of course we will deal with it accordingly."
Once everything was decided Old Madam Ji took her leave and even if Madam Ji was not willing, she had to go back with her mother.
However once the two of them climbed up inside the carriage, Madam Ji could not help but complain, "Mother, how could you give into that woman's stubbornness? Her sister is the one who is in the wrong, I am telling you that girl had some hidden intentions. Or else she would not have met with Chuan'er."
"Are you really going to continue talking about that? Couldn't you see that Madam Yu brought up the matter of Chaun'er leaving the house being leaked to an outsider?" Old Madam Ji said with a calm voice. "If you had continued pushing her then Madam Yu would have most likely pushed you to punish Shixun. No matter how you look at it, the one who was in the wrong was our family."
"If Shixun had not schemed against his brother, Madam Yu's sister would not have been entangled in this mess."
Old Madam Ji opened her eyes and then stared straight at Madam Ji, "but you have cleared your stance to Chuan'er. Even if he was wronged, you did not blame Shixun and instead pushed the blame on his head by accusing him of leaving the house at night."
Madam Ji pursed her lips and did not say anything. She also knew that she was being unfair which was why she wanted to get the position of official husband to Ji Chuan.
But what could she do? Ji Shixun was engaged to the young miss of the Liu family and his reputation cannot be tarnished.
Old Madam Ji knew what she was thinking and snorted, "Since you have already decided to sacrifice a son then you might as well stick to your decisions till the end. There is no need for you to act all pitiful and nice as if you had no choice."
"If you are going to be cruel then be prepared to take the blame. Do you think that by giving some compensation you can change the fact that you favoured one son over the other?"
Madam Ji clenched her fists in her lap. She knew that her mother was blaming her and turned silent. Stay updated with My Virtual Library Empire
At the Ji house,
"Tsk, tsk. It seems like someone was indeed correct. Those who have no shame can go rather far," even though his trail was caught, Ji Shixun did not feel ashamed. His plans might have fallen through but the results were still the same.
Ji Chuan was going to be married off to a villager while he would be married off to an official. Just thinking about it was enough to make him overjoyed.
While Ji Shixun was floating in the air, Ji Chuan was rather calm. He was already aware of his ending, at least with the help of his grandmother, he was able to choose the kind of ending he was going to get.
Anyway, it wasn't as if he was going to end up in a pathetic state.
So, there was no need for him to take Ji Shixun's words to heart. But——
"Ahahaha!"
He was really annoying.
"Are you done?" Ji Chuan asked as he banged his brush on the table and turned to look at Ji Shixun who had come to look for him in the study. "If you are done then get lost. And there is no need for you to laugh so much, have you forgotten that the man who helped you is still locked in prison? Do you want me to do something about it?"
