Chapter 1679: Ensuring safety
"You—"
"What you? What you?" Master Ke hated this mer so much that he wished he could kill him then and there. What had Master Xiao's parents ever done for him or this family that they should put their lives on the line for them?
He snarled at Master Xiao before saying, "If our wife doesn't divorce you then I am going to take our daughter away from her. I cannot have her live in a house with a mer like you, you don't even care for your daughters."
"They were taken away but I don't see you worrying about them, in fact, you were perfectly fine. Spending time eating and drinking, but when it comes to your parents, suddenly you are worried enough to jump in a fiery pit."
"And I don't care if you have to jump, in fact, I will push you myself. But why should our family jump along with you? Other than giving birth to two daughters, what have you done? We have given birth to daughters as well."
"Exactly," Master Jing clapped his hands at the fervent speech of Master Ke. He turned to look at Master Xiao before saying, "A mer who is married should care for his wife before his parents and after his wife, he should care for his children."
"A married mer should put his wife and her family above his own. He should never steal from his wife and respect her wishes."
"A mer married to a woman is expected to be soft-spoken and caring. He should protect his family, nurture his children well and live harmoniously with the rest of his wife's husbands and their children."
"These are the mer-ly virtues that have been taught to us ever since we turned ten. And in case a mer doesn't follow these virtues then a woman can divorce him. Tell me, Master Xiao, which virtue have you followed? If it is even one, we will not ask our wife to divorce you."
"That—That…" Master Xiao parted his lips to speak but he didn't— he couldn't bring himself to say anything as he knew the truth. He had never followed any of these virtues. The only thing he had cared for was to be filial towards his parents.
"Since you are a filial son, then it is quite cruel of us to keep you here. You might as well go and live with them, be as filial as you want!" Master Jing snapped as he waved his hand to the three mers. "Take him inside his courtyard and this time, tie him up."
"No! You can't do this to me!—"
However, no one was willing to listen to him anymore. When Master Xiao opened his mouth, Master Pei sneered and shoved a dirty rag in his mouth. They had gotten tired of this mer, but as he was a candidate of the official husband in case something was to happen to Guo Zian and Master Jing, they dared not to make a fuss.
But now seriously they did not care anymore.
Master Jing snorted while watching the three drag away Master Xiao. He then turned and looked at the people who were banging at the door, his expression morphed into worry as he muttered, "Wife stay safe."
At the tea house, Madam Kong changed her shift with Yu Jiao Yu. She had tried to hit these people as hard as she could but they remained unmoved. No matter how she hit them, they would climb right back up as if her hits didn't hurt them.
It was simply terrifying to look at them, and remain so unmoved and unhurt.
"This is never going to end if it continues like this," muttered Madam Hea as she smashed the pan on the head of another woman and sent her flying down.
Far away, on top of a building, Master Hualin was playing a peculiar tone on her bone flute. When she looked at the number of people who were attacking those who hadn't eaten the meat buns that she had served, her lips curled in a glorious smile.
"Go on! Kill everyone who stands in the path of our glorious future."
While she was enjoying the sight in front of her, Yu Dong was doing her best to reach the tea house where she had left the children. She hoped that Kong Pili had called her mother and they were now together.
She didn't dare to stop even though there was a stitch stinging at the side of her waist. On and on, she sprinted and finally reached the entrance of the town. Past the streets, she saw the tea house where she had left the children.
And to her annoyance, the entire building was surrounded by the people who had eaten the meat buns filled with human flesh and hypnotizing bugs.
This was why her grandma told her to never eat anything that was given for free.
The crowd swarmed around the tea house like hungry wolves surrounding a wounded beast. It was so densely surrounded that even a dog couldn't sneak inside or outside much less her.
Yu Dong narrowed her eyes, she took out her lightsaber whips and then charged at the crowd. These whips were specially designed to deal with mutated zombies thus, it didn't take long for Yu Dong to break into the crowd.
Each time she smacked someone with her whip they were electrocuted and fell on the ground, twitching.
"Sister!"
Yu Mai who had been peering out of the window saw his sister fighting and shouted in glee. He knew it! He knew his sister would come to save them.
Yu Dong raised her head and looked at Yu Mai who was looking out of the window with a heavy tea pot in his hands. She said to him, "Go inside."
She then turned to look at the endless mass of hypnotising bug-infected people and cursed. It was going to take a long time before she could end them.
However, she soon calmed herself down and suddenly charged at the crowd. She just needed enough time to stop these people and ensure the safety of her brother and uncles.
After that, she would deal with Master Hualin. As she knew that the woman would do anything to hurt her brother and family in an attempt to subdue Yu Dong.
What do you think?
