Chapter 1211: Return and Current Situation
“What’s with the Locket?” Evan asked. “This was left by Salazar Slytherin, one of the Four Founders of Hogwarts, a very powerful wizard … well … probably more than a thousand years from now.”
He was a little puzzled and didn’t know why Ramses II suddenly mentioned Slytherin’s Locket.
“I haven’t heard of Slytherin, but the craftsmanship of this Locket is undoubtedly very special, and it contains two remarkable spells,” said Ramses II. He waved his hand and the Locket appeared in his hand. “One of these spells has particularly caught my attention.”
A spell that could catch the attention of Ramses II was certainly no ordinary one.
Slytherin’s Locket had helped Evan many times. Ramses II said there were two spells on it, but Evan only knew one.
It would absorb the excess magic power, ensure Evan’s safety, and then return it to him in some way to help increase his strength.
Although the working principle of this magic had not been figured out yet, it always worked at the critical moment.
It could be said that without Slytherin’s Locket, there would be no Evan today.
He might have already failed and died when the magic in the Philosopher’s Stone first surged into him, or when he faced the Eyeball Monster.
The Locket had a magical function and was also a safety net for Evan when using the Philosopher’s Stone. But to someone as powerful as Ramses II, who was akin to a god, this was nothing significant.
Unlike wizards, ancient sorcerers had a complete system for practicing magic and methods to quickly improve their strength.
Therefore, this particular function of the Locket wouldn’t likely have caught his attention.
As for the other spell Ramses II mentioned, Evan had no clue at all!
“The magic on this Locket is related to the rules. I’m certain I’ve felt this same power somewhere before…” said Ramses II.
He carefully examined the Locket, observing the Slytherin crest and the ancient runes whose meaning was unclear.
“Related to the rules?” Evan asked. “Where have you seen it?”
From the time Ramses II first mentioned this term until now, he still didn’t quite understand what “rule” magic was, but this did not prevent him from knowing that the so-called “rules” were important — the pharaoh had mentioned it more than once.
Consider another magical artifact related to the “rules” — the Eye of Horus, its power was simply beyond imagination.
But Evan never expected that Slytherin’s Locket, which he had worn all this time, would also involve “rules”.
“I’m thinking… Ah, I remember now. It’s related to the rules of space; it’s a key to another dimension,” Ramses II said. “In the Temple of Amun in Thebes, there is a similar item that has been worshiped for generations. It can allow the user to reach the world where Amun Ra is.”
“The world where Amun Ra is…” Evan repeated, looking at Ramses II in astonishment.
Amun Ra was the most important deity in Egypt, but if the so-called gods were all outsiders, then where was the world of Amun Ra?
They came from the universe, so could that be an alien planet? Or was it a world from another dimension?
Moreover, Slytherin’s Locket turned out to be a key to another dimension — how incredible!
So, did that mean it could allow Evan to enter a world where gods resided?
“What is that world like?” he asked.
“I’m not sure. After all, I can’t use magic of other rules, so I have never been there,” said Ramses II. “But my father told me that it is the realm of the gods, with golden flames and magnificent palaces. He hoped to go there after his death, but the fate of the Pharaohs had already been sealed long ago — he could never reach such a place…”
Ramses II returned the Locket to Evan, then looked down at the two gods who were fighting each other below.
The entire desert had undergone earth-shaking changes. The ground was uneven, and traces of powerful magic destruction could be seen everywhere. There were also flashes of heart-pounding energy from time to time, and all kinds of magical colors.
“They are going too far. I have to take some measures,” Ramses II said. “Take good care of this Locket, Evan. You will need it one day. I hope you’ll be as content with the other world as my father was. The timing is just right. Remember what I told you. You can use the Time-Turner when necessary…”
“Wait, how do I use this Locket? How can I get to that other world?”
“It’s simple. Since it’s a key, you just need to find the door it corresponds to. On this Locket…”
Evan couldn’t hear what Ramses II said next, and he felt the scenery in front of him becoming increasingly blurry.
He was attracted by a powerful force and flew high into the sky, returning to his own time.
In a world made of black and white, he sped forward alongside the clouds at an incredible speed.
When his feet finally touched the ground again, Evan found himself standing on the desert.
Sand swirled around him, and the huge outline of the ruins of Per-Ramses City appeared on the distant horizon.
He rested for a while, thinking about the information Ramses II had shared with him, and took out a few bottles of magic potions to replenish his strength.
Slytherin’s Locket, a replica of the Eye of Horus, a Time-Turner and an Astrolabe were all scattered before him.
Evan watched as the Time-Turner and the Astrolabe began to emit a white glow, slowly merging together.
Eventually, they became one, and the power of the Time-Turner grew stronger.
The dial was now larger than before, with more precise markings, additional hourglasses, and mystical symbols of the sun, moon, and stars, along with other magical symbols whose meanings were unclear.
Evan checked everything and put his belongings away.
As agreed, he now had to go to the prison left by Ramses II to activate the weapon.
Since the entire Ruins of Amun Ra had to be destroyed, he was wondering how to get everyone to leave.
Otherwise, if he activated the weapon, he would bury the Ruins of Amun Ra, the imprisoned gods within them, and thousands of wizards.
He didn’t want to create earth-shattering news or be so cruel—destroying the relic quietly would be enough.
But when he returned to Per-Ramses, he found that it had changed a lot from when he left.
Aurors with nervous expressions were guarding the main roads of the ruins and observing their surroundings vigilantly. Many wizards were hurrying down from the city walls carrying all kinds of supplies. From the direction of the Ruins of Amun Ra, wounded people lying on stretchers were constantly being carried over, their thick bandages stained with blood.
Because there were so many of them, they had to be accommodated in a large open space below the city walls.
More than a dozen healers were treating the injured, and the painful cries of the wounded were endless, which was very uncomfortable to listen to.
As for those stretchers placed quietly in the corner, they seemed even more ominous — perhaps they indicated that those people were already dead!
