Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Chapter 1226: A Completely Different Summer Vacation

Evan and Hermione discussed the current situation for a while and gained some understanding of the situation regarding the Ruins of Amun Ra.

All these things were written in the newspapers. Hermione brought all the copies of the Daily Prophet and Hogwarts Magic from the past two months to Evan and piled them up into a small mountain. Affected by the previous false reports, the Daily Prophet seemed to feel it could not compete with Hogwarts Magic in reporting on domestic affairs, so they played to their strengths and began vigorously developing overseas coverage.

They published a lot about the attacks around the world and the recent Ruins of Amun Ra incident.

In the latest issue of The Daily Prophet, Evan saw the final outcome of the Ruins of Amun Ra.

Just like the vision he saw in his dream, that terrifying weapon destroyed the entire ruins, the gods fell, the buildings collapsed, countless sands poured back and buried the place, and no one could enter there anymore. This prison of the gods built by Ramses II completely withdrew from the stage of history after completing its mission.

Of course, such an event threw the Egyptian Wizarding community into chaos.

The Daily Prophet, however, praised Evan highly. It seemed that they finally found an opportunity and were excited about a British wizard saving the Egyptian Wizarding world. It was not known whether they intended to take this opportunity to please Evan or to make up for their previous mistakes. They praised him as a genius, a young wizard who could stand against Voldemort.

Reading these articles that praised him, Evan felt very embarrassed, his face constantly red — it was so awkward!

It seemed that it had always been the tradition of this newspaper to fabricate reports to a certain extent.

Evan was certain that there were many things he had not done, but he couldn’t say anything. The Daily Prophet had a good grasp of the scale, and it was difficult to hold them accountable. They always used words like ‘according to observing wizards’ or ‘it is speculated’ and all the comments were praises for Evan.

Even Rita Skeeter couldn’t resist and wrote a series of reports about her ‘untold stories’ with Evan.

Evan didn’t know what stories he had with Skeeter — was it the fact that he kept her as a beetle in a jar for half a year?

Could it be that she really developed feelings for him, which made her praise him like this…

Hermione also felt a bit awkward. She finally told the truth. Wizards liked to read this kind of news.

They reported it this way because they liked it. Selling themselves was the first priority of a newspaper.

Embarrassing news reports aside, Evan had been having a pretty good few days since waking up.

Dumbledore asked him and Hermione to stay at Evan’s house, and he would come to pick them and Harry up to go to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix on Friday evening. Elaine and the Weasley family would also be there. With plenty of time left at home, this made the Masons very happy. They didn’t care about Voldemort or the current situation, thinking they should stay honestly in the house and go nowhere. They took Evan and Hermione out to buy many things and made their favorite foods.

To be precise, it was the things Hermione liked. Evan felt his mother liked Hermione more than she liked him.

However, it was certainly wonderful to have Hermione with him.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………..

At number four Privet Drive, not far from Evan’s home, the atmosphere in the Dursley household was far from relaxed!

The Dursleys had a very bad summer vacation. They had been frightened at the beginning of it.

The godfather of their nephew Harry Potter actually came to visit them at home.

The meeting was far from a pleasant one; it was a disaster.

First of all, Harry’s godfather, Sirius Black, was a wizard.

This was the kind of person the Dursleys hated the most. Over the past few decades, they had been trying to distance themselves from that world, hoping to squeeze the magic out of their nephew’s body, but in the end it turned out to be a waste of time.

Now, a wizard was actually coming to visit them.

One can imagine how the Dursleys felt at that moment — it was as if the end of the world had come.

In fact, you couldn’t really blame them; every encounter the Dursleys had with wizards had been terrible. First, there was Hagrid and the pig’s tail, then there were Evan and Dobby’s pig’s tails, then Harry inflated his aunt, followed by Fred and George’s joke candies, and last year it was the Dementors that could suck away people’s souls…

Enough, it was simply too much!

Mr. Vernon Dursley had sworn more than once to sever any connection their family had with anything magical. Dudley had been to a private clinic several times to have the pig’s tail removed, which cost a fortune, not to mention the humiliation. The look the doctor at the private clinic gave them in the end was as if they were monsters…

The Dursleys did not want to have this meeting, but the problem was that they did not dare to refuse.

This was because of the second point: Harry’s godfather was a murderer.

At least, that was what they thought.

Although the police eventually withdrew the wanted warrant and Harry explained that his godfather had been wrongly accused, Mr. Dursley didn’t believe it at all.

“He must have used magic!” He trembled at the word, and two puffs of air came out of his nostrils. “It was that damned trickery to get away with it. Don’t think I don’t know. I know exactly what kind of people you are.”

Lastly, the Dursleys didn’t want a wizard visiting because Sirius had once threatened them in a letter.

He told them to treat Harry well, just as if they had been mistreating him…

This made the Dursleys feel bad, especially since some of the things Sirius listed made them feel like they were being watched, but it was also because of this that they finally accepted the request to visit. Sirius’s threat worked, and out of fear, they had no choice but to let him in.

Just think about it, the threat of a murderous wizard — it was a nightmare, an irresistible nightmare.

The main purpose of Sirius’s visit this time was also to warn and threaten the Dursleys…

From Sirius’s point of view, the conversation had undoubtedly been a success.

After he used a few small spells, the once aggressive Dursleys and their chubby son were quite frightened.

They agreed to Sirius’s request and repeatedly promised to treat Harry well.

If Dumbledore hadn’t forbidden it, Sirius would have liked to stay the entire summer at Number Four Privet Drive to keep Harry company. However, he only stayed for three days, during which he brought Harry many things — food, magic items, things a boy his age should and shouldn’t have — all of which Sirius bought for Harry.

In the end, he even left the Dursleys a large sum of gold as compensation.

Harry doubted that his uncle and aunt would forgive Sirius for this, but they seemed quite satisfied with the gold, and their attitude towards Harry became better. They stopped asking him to help with housework and hardly spoke to him, as if he didn’t exist in the house.

Of course, there would be no stopping Harry from studying magic in his room and completing his school assignments. This was the best thing for Harry as he could do whatever he liked. After the Dementors incident last year, Dudley stayed away from him. This was the best summer vacation Harry had ever had.

The Dursleys gradually recovered from the shock Sirius brought them at the meeting at the beginning of the holiday, but they soon received another piece of news from their nephew that another wizard was coming to visit. Dumbledore would come to their house at eleven o’clock this Friday night and had something to discuss with them.

Another nightmare was about to begin.
