Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 24 Alone

"Really?" Feng Shen smiled slightly, his eyes wandering to the corner of the room where he sensed a hidden presence—killing intent.

Though it was small and deeply concealed, he could still sense it.

Feng Shen's small smile grew as he casually remarked, "Hmm? But we won't be alone, will we?"

Cai Bo followed the Second Young Master of the Feng family's gaze, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

"You... can see her?" he asked, startled that the young man had sensed his daughter's bodyguard, hidden within her concealed space.

"Of course," Feng Shen replied calmly. "No need to hide—come on out." He waved his hand, gesturing for the bodyguard to step out from her space.

Nothing.

No response.

"I suggest you show yourself before I lose my patience…" Feng Shen's voice grew colder with each word, his eyes narrowing into a sharp glare.

His smile had vanished, replaced by a look of irritation, revealing his dwindling patience.

Noticing the tension, Cai Bo decided to de-escalate the situation. "Shadow, come out. This is an order!" he commanded.

Although he knew his daughter's bodyguard was a Peak Stage Martial Realm cultivator, she was still no match for the Patriarch of the Feng family.

Cai Bo recognized that cooperating was the best course of action for now. After all, they merely wanted the Feng family to sign the scroll.

However, like before.

Nothing.

No response.

As annoyance began to bubble within Cai Bo, he gritted his teeth and turned to his daughter. "Baby girl, do daddy a favor and call upon her."

Rolling her eyes, Cai Xiu felt an overwhelming urge to facepalm.

It was embarrassing, as this was like slapping themselves in the face, given that the bodyguard didn't listen to the patriarch of their family.

Cai Xiu knew her bodyguard wasn't at fault; she had been instructed to answer only to her.

This bodyguard was extremely loyal, willing to walk through fire and water for her.

"Shadow, come out…" Cai Xiu muttered.

The bodyguard, Shadow, emerged from her personal space, stepping through the very fabric of reality.

Her body was wrapped in black silk, and a half-mask concealed her mouth, leaving only her striking pink eyes visible.

Shadow's lean figure was framed by short bangs of pink hair. She knelt before the First Young Lady of the Cai family.

"My lady, I await your orders!" she exclaimed, her tone fervent.

Cai Xiu ignored her bodyguard and turned back to her fiancé, sighing.

She Awaited a response from her fiancé.

The Feng elders were in disbelief, having not noticed her presence themselves. All they could do was glance at the Second Young Master with newfound respect.

Glancing at his second son, Feng Yuanyun himself felt a surge of admiration; he hadn't even noticed the bodyguard, despite being in the Transcendent Realm.

The truth was that Feng Shen hadn't noticed the bodyguard in her concealed space, but he did sense the killing intent directed at him as it leaked through.

He was grateful for it; otherwise, he might have remained unaware that they were being watched.

'What a dumb mistake…' Feng Shen thought to himself. It was a foolish error for a bodyguard. Revealing her emotions in such a way was both silly and pathetic.

Feng Shen's cold expression softened, and his tone returned to being more calm:

"Now, you will speak with me," he said. "I'm graciously providing you with someone to accompany you—your bodyguard."

Feng Shen stood up from his seat. "I have been far too generous for you to refuse, girl. I will not accept no."

Biting her handkerchief in frustration, Cai Xiu glanced at her father, who gave her a small nod of encouragement to listen.

Though she didn't want to comply, humiliation washing over her. After all, a man her age had called her "girl," a term she found utterly disrespectful.

'Who does this bastard think he is? Where does he get the nerve to act superior to me!?' Cai Xiu screamed in her head.

She was at a higher level of cultivation and stronger!

Taking a deep breath, trying to relax herself, Cai Xiu asked, "If I agree to speak with you, will the Feng family sign the scroll to cancel the engagement?"

Her curiosity was genuine; she needed to know.

Feng Shen strode down the carpet, nodding as he passed her. "Of course. Why would someone as great as I marry such a bitch?"

Steam seemed to blow from Cai Xiu's ears as her face went red. She really wanted to slap her fiancé, but she restrained herself and followed behind him instead.

Shadow followed silently, her disdain for the Second Young Master of the Feng family clear.

In fact, she harbored a deep-seated hatred for every man who sought her First Young Lady.

Once the main hall doors opened and closed, a silence filled the air.@@novelbin@@

Everyone knew they could only await their return.

"Bastard, where are you taking me?" Cai Xiu spat, her hatred unmistakable.

She was well aware of how much of a dog licker her fiancé was, and with her beauty, she knew no man would ever want to rid themselves of her.

Cai Xiu guessed he was simply trying to get some alone time to drop the tough guy act and beg her not to cancel the engagement.

'This bastard really thinks he can act tough in front of me? Tsk, so annoying,' she thought. 'Though it can't be helped, I am that perfect.'

He was merely putting on a show for everyone. Cai Xiu would bet a lot of Spirit Stones that he had changed so much just to impress her.

Feng Shen didn't respond and kept walking, putting distance between themselves and the main hall, as well as all the maidservants on the property.

Eventually, they arrived at a small, secluded lake, clearly crafted by human hands.

A small wooden dock extended out over the water, where a sampan rested gently on the surface.

"We've arrived," Feng Shen finally uttered a word, walking down the dock and standing near the sampan:

"Get in."
