Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 28 Maid

"Sit your ass down. Just wait for your bodyguard to break the hidden array," Feng Shen spoke in a calming tone.

Like a bucket of cold water being thrown over her, Cai Xiu hurriedly sat down, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

As she became anxious, trying to cover her waist and below with her torn clothes, she couldn't help but think about the consequences that could happen to her.

Cai Xiu knew that if anyone found out she had lost her purity, the entire Upper Realm would erupt.

She would be disowned by her family, lose her social standing, and be shunned by her peers. She would be all alone.

On top of that, with her cultivation speed now diminished, Cai Xiu had no choice but to rely on the man in front of her.

Seeing her expression and her fidgeting, Feng Shen smiled. "It seems you understand. Well, from today onward, you'll be my maid, so you'll refer to me as Master. Do I make myself clear?" His voice was full of mockery.

Finally managing to cover herself, Cai Xiu was silent, still staring down at her thighs.

A couple of seconds later, she lifted her head and looked directly in front of her.

With a defeated, submissive tone, Cai Xiu replied, "Yes, Master…"

If this man hadn't stolen her purity, she would have never spoken such words—words she had thought would never leave her mouth.

After all, everyone looked up to her, worshiping her!

It was never supposed to be the other way around!

SNAP!

Finally, the hidden array shattered, revealing Shadow, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily, looking utterly miserable.

Her eyes darted around frantically until they locked onto the two on the boat.

Shadow immediately noticed the ripped clothes on the First Young Lady, her eyes widening.

"You bastard!" Shadow shot toward the Second Young Master of the Feng family, her fist aimed directly at his head, ready to punch a hole through it and sever it from his body.

However, just as she arrived in front of the man, her fist inches from his head…

"Stop!" Cai Xiu ordered loudly, clenching her fists tightly, digging her fingernails into her skin and drawing a little blood.

Immediately, as Shadow stopped, ripples spread across the lake, sending mini waves crashing around them.

The boat shook violently, and a gust of wind swept through the area.

Shadow had held back her strength the moment the First Young Lady issued her order, causing such chaos around them.

Feng Shen showed no concern, knowing that if his head were to be cut off, his forbidden bloodline would regenerate it.

Given its current low level, the regeneration would take a significant amount of time.

However, Feng Shen was fine with that, as that was his last lifeline.

Though he wanted to block the attack, he knew that their realms were too far apart for such a defense to be effective.

So, Feng Shen had hoped his new maid would stop her, and she did, which was great. It showed a form of emotional attachment, even if it was a twisted one.

"… Why—… First Young Lady…?" Shadow asked, her voice betraying more emotion than usual, as she turned around.

Cai Xiu looked away hurriedly, unable to meet the eyes of her bodyguard, who stared at her in disbelief.

Shadow moved a couple of steps closer to the First Young Lady, crouching down to look at her ripped clothes.

"Are you okay? Did that disgusting man lay a finger on you?" Shadow began, trying to piece together what had happened, hoping the worst hadn't occurred.

Feng Shen placed his hand on his heart, his expression shifting to one of hurt as he said in a mocking tone, "Ouch, to think you would believe I could do such a thing! Do you see me as a monster?!"

"Silence, you bastard!" Shadow turned around, glaring at him with daggers in her eyes, causing the man to smile and laugh.

She didn't want to hear his voice right now; it felt as if he was toying with her.

Cai Xiu glanced at her bodyguard, who was tense and ready to strike like a feral cat:

"Calm down, Shadow. It's just a misunderstanding. My clothes ripped when I climbed into the boat and got caught on a splintered edge."

"But—…" Shadow wanted to argue, knowing that such a thing couldn't have happened since she was keeping a close eye on her when she entered the boat.

But seeing the First Young Lady's distressed tone and pleading eyes, which urged her to stop, she held back her tongue.

"I understand…" Shadow spoke reluctantly, grinding her teeth.

She didn't want to admit it to herself, but she couldn't deny that the young woman she had been protecting all her life had been eaten, which explained the entire personality switch and her protectiveness toward the man.

Shadow so badly wanted to kill the Second Young Master of the Feng family; however, she couldn't act without being ordered to do so.

'I'm sorry, mother… I'm sorry everyone… I've failed my sacred duty…' Shadow seethed with anger toward herself, feeling that she had let her ancestors down and even contemplating ending her own life to atone for her failure.

The Chun family had dedicated themselves to serving the Cai family ever since their rise to power, protecting them with unwavering loyalty.

Highly trained cultivators who had never failed before in their duty, however, Shadow knew she was the first to face such a devastating failure.

She couldn't help but suddenly feel nauseous as she shifted from her current position, leaning over the boat.

Seconds later, glimpsing at her own reflection in the water, Shadow began to throw up.

Before Cai Xiu could open her mouth and move to check on her bodyguard, she suddenly heard a creaking noise coming from her Master's direction.

Feng Shen stood up from where he was sitting and walked behind the bodyguard, patting her on the back:@@novelbin@@

"Hey now… the thing is, you tried, didn't you?" He ridiculed. "We all make mistakes. Don't be too hard on yourself."
