Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 31 Basics

The doors of the main hall slammed shut.

Only the members of the Feng family and some servants remained.

Like a bunch of hungry wolves, the elders of the Feng family eyed the Second Young Master with thinly veiled self-interest, each of them calculating the perfect moment to curry favor with him.

They were eager to find an opportunity to win his favor.

After all, the Second Younger Master was no longer the same person they once knew.

Now, he radiated an aura of arrogance intertwined with unshakeable confidence.

In the elders' minds, the Second Young Master was undoubtedly the next patriarch of the Feng family.

However, before any of them could make a move…

Feng Shen rose from his seat.

The elders held their breath, pausing their intentions as they awaited the Second Young Master's next move. Above all, they were determined not to appear disrespectful.

Feng Shen strolled forward, his black fan in hand, lazily waving it to cool himself. "Now that I'm not needed, I'll be heading to the cultivation chamber."

He would rather not deal with any sycophantic flattery at the moment; his focus was on starting his practice as soon as possible.

Such as adapting to this new body, starting with mastering basic martial arts, learning some basic techniques, and cultivating even further.

Each step was essential to Feng Shen.

He also knew he had a lot on his plate.

As Feng Yuanyun watched his second son pass by him, he erupted into loud laughter. "By all means, my boy! Take any techniques you want, or anything you desire!" His voice boomed with pride.

Typically, in the cultivation chamber, most techniques and resources were off-limits and required strict permission from the patriarch.

However, given that his second son was the future of the Feng family, Feng Yuanyun felt no reservations about allowing him to take whatever he wanted.

Just as Feng Shen reached the doors, he stopped, and, without turning back, warned coldly, "I want to make it clear: I don't permit anyone to disturb me. If anyone dares, they will be killed."

With that said, he stepped outside, allowing the doors to swing shut behind him with a thud.

Such a sound brought the elders back to reality, allowing them to breathe again and feel a bit more relaxed.

They exchanged glances, each of them nodding in silent agreement that now was not the right time to disturb the Second Young Master.

Instead, the elders quickly shifted their focus and swarmed the Patriarch, showering him with flattery and praise.

They eagerly vied for more of his favor, each one subtly asking for more resources…

Feng Yuanyun could only sigh.

'Uh~ fuck my life…'

Inside the cultivation chamber, a spacious room stretched before Feng Shen.

The floor was a wooden surface, and a couple of battle dummies were firmly laid in one of the corners of the room, clad in worn armor that had seen countless training sessions.

In the center of the room lay a single mat, placed down in the smack-dab middle, providing a dedicated space for practice.

"This will do for now," Feng Shen muttered to himself as he walked around, his eyes sweeping over the rows of techniques and resources for each.

Shelves lined each wall, filled with soul techniques, mental techniques, combat techniques, elemental laws, and countless others.

Knowing he had some time, Feng Shen decided to check out what the Feng family had before he began adapting to his body.

His curiosity was piqued; after all, he was in the Upper Realm, a realm he hadn't set foot in for longer than he could remember.

And so, Feng Shen began pulling out various scrolls and manuals from the shelves:

"Boring… Trash… Horrible… Wasteful… Ass… Disgusting…"

Feng Shen skimmed through each one, discarding them just as quickly. Most failed to meet his standards, and his dissatisfaction grew with every passing moment.@@novelbin@@

"Uh~ this is simply too sad! Where are the Immortal Grade Techniques? Or even the Supreme Grade Techniques?"

The absence of high-grade techniques in the cultivation chamber felt like a joke to Feng Shen, who found only Intermediate Grade Techniques and, at best, Master Grade Techniques cluttering the shelves.

"Such a shame," Feng Shen remarked, rolling his eyes as he walked over to the mat.

As he stood in place, Feng Shen completely stopped using his own Qi to support his body, wanting everything to feel natural.

He wanted to connect with this body without relying on external energy.

And so, Feng Shen began to stretch a little, trying to loosen his muscles and prepare himself.

With each careful movement, he focused on his breathing. However, he still felt tense, acutely aware that this body was truly weak.

Despite that, he still wanted to see what level he was at.

Stopping his current movements, Feng Shen began throwing punches and kicks, but each movement felt sluggish; he couldn't move as fast, smooth, or agile as he once could.

"Tsk." Feng Shen clicked his tongue in annoyance. His bones already ached from the effort, even though he had only moved a little.

Feeling so limited, he decided it was best to take it slow.

Feng Shen returned to stretching every part of his body, focusing on loosening his muscles and easing the tension that had built up.

After some time passed, feeling more relaxed, he decided it was best to start learning some of the basics of martial arts.

"Alright, let's start with the Single Palm Strike," Feng Shen said to himself.

He shifted into a stance, grounding himself.

Closing his eyes for a brief moment, Feng Shen inhaled deeply through his nose, filling his lungs with air.

As he exhaled slowly through his mouth, he shot his palm forward. Despite the movement being slow and lacking in power, it was executed with proper form.

"Good enough…" A smirk tugged at the corners of Feng Shen's lips.

His primary goal was to get his body accustomed to these movements and reestablish the connection he once had with the basics of martial arts.

Feng Shen sighed:

"Now I only have to do a couple hundred of these…"
