Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 52 Sky Tyrant

"Ahh~ Good thing I got it out of my system," Feng Shen sighed, feeling the tension in his body dissolve as the bloodlust faded away, leaving him with a strange sense of calm.

His mind, which had been consumed by only wanting to kill only moments ago, was now quiet and clear.

With each breath, Feng Shen felt his sanity return, grounding him, allowing him to regain control.

He straightened, brushing a bit of dust off his robe without a care for the blood staining its fabric or the melee weapons and arrows still embedded in his flesh.

They were mere inconveniences.

With a steady hand, Feng Shen reached and gripped the hilt of a dagger lodged in his side.

Slowly, he pulled it free; the blade scraping against flesh as a fresh wave of blood spilled from the wound.

It pooled beneath Feng Shen, even more crimson staining his robe and the forest floor around him as the bleeding continued.

Immediately, his forbidden bloodline began to heal the wound.

"Oh, it seems they were channeling Qi into their weapons," Feng Shen muttered, his voice tinged with a mix of curiosity.

He held up the dagger, observing the faint traces of Qi energy still lingering along the blade's edge, slowly dissipating into the air.

Feng Shen's eyes narrowed in curiosity, tracing the weapon and the faint energy pattern woven into the metal.

"So," he murmured, "these women were practicing the Weaponry Arts—the path of mastering oneself with the weapon."

A slight smirk tugged at the corner of Feng Shen's lips.

As his mind had fully cleared, he began to reflect on the moments that had just passed.

The one-sided slaughter made it painfully clear how inexperienced these women were in many ways.

They had no real understanding of the brutality of life and death, their movements clumsy and their reactions sluggish.

'Truly, they just kept getting shocked,' Feng Shen thought, shaking his head inwardly.

It was almost comical how easily they were thrown off balance.

After all, in moments like these—when life and death hung in the balance—one could not afford to let emotions cloud them.

Feng Shen tossed the dagger aside, the blade clattering to the forest floor:@@novelbin@@

'Inexperienced. Hesitation—it's the difference between survival and an early grave.'

Feng Shen held no respect for these female cultivators.

"Uh… this is probably going to be a pain in the ass," he said under his breath. "But hopefully, if they want to kill me, they'll bring more powerful people."

Feng Shen licked his lips, the thoughts of the women he had just slain fading from his mind as quickly as they had come.

Now, his focus shifted to the sect he could have possibly angered—if they ever found out.

After all, Feng Shen knew those robes all too well—the white robes adorned with lotus patterns.

He knew how fiercely protective they were of one another.

If they were coming for Feng Shen, they wouldn't send weaklings; they would send their strongest.

From what he could remember from his past life, he had forcefully taken the virginity of the Founder of the Lotus Sect, an all-female sect, along with all of their elders at the time.

Becoming target number one of the entire sect, they wanted Feng Shen dead—no matter the cost or the means.

He let out a low chuckle as he recalled those humorous memories.

Feng Shen had been particularly lustful during that time, a young 430-year-old, pent-up with years of suppressed desire.

'Ah~ I was a real horn dog back in the day.'

Feng Shen laughed, as he then turned to make his way back toward his personal servant.

Using Shadow Step, his form vanishing and reappearing on the thick branches high above the forest floor.

However, a sudden, distorted noise shattered the stillness of the air:

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

The noise seemed to ripple through the air, causing everything around Feng Shen to shake ever so slightly.

Despite this, he remained perfectly still, his eyes narrowing as he peered through the thick canopy of leaves.

Feng Shen showed an enormous smile as when his golden eyes settled on the sky above, there, cutting through the air, was an enormous bird—the Sky Tyrant.

Its massive wings beat with terrifying power, each stroke sending gusts of wind spiraling in every direction.

The Sky Tyrant's piercing green eyes scanned the surroundings, constantly searching for any signs of prey, their gaze cold and calculating.

Its silver skin gleamed under the moonlight, but it was far from delicate—sharpened, jagged feathers covered its body, forming a natural armor that would make any would-be attacker think twice before approaching.

However, Feng Shen quickly recalled that he needed to gather food for his personal servant, as well as the core of this monstrous creature.

'If I can obtain its core, it might serve as a valuable resource to help me advance in my cultivation.'

With that thought in mind, Feng Shen didn't hesitate for a moment. 'I want that core.'

In one fluid motion, he stretched his limbs briefly, gathering his focus.

Then, with a surge of Qi, Feng Shen shot himself upward, vanishing into the air with a burst of speed, using Shadow Step to propel himself.

The sudden motion caused all the weapons embedded in his flesh to dislodge, tumbling free as blood began to pour from the open wounds.

Which again caused his forbidden bloodline to work.

Yet, despite the shifting movement, the arrows remained firmly pierced through Feng Shen's body, their shafts tight and unwavering.

The Sky Tyrant, hearing the sudden noise, quickly turned its massive head downward, expecting to see the source.

Instead, it saw only a small gust of wind sweeping through the trees.

But then, something changed.

A sharp, unsettling sensation crawled up the Sky Tyrant's spine.

It instinctively looked upward, just in time to see something speeding down toward it with a lot of velocity—like a rocket descending from the heavens, a streak of deadly intent aimed directly at it.

Without wasting a second, the Sky Tyrant immediately halted its forward momentum, twisting its massive body in mid-air to flip onto its back.

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

The Sky Tyrant's wings beat furiously, creating a violent surge of wind that blasted upward with raw force, bringing alongside sharp feathers.

Seeing this come at him, Feng Shen was calm, knowing exactly what was coming.

This wasn't his first encounter with such a monstrous creature.

As Feng Shen descended, he was ready to start dodging the incoming barrage of razor-sharp feathers, wanting to twist and weave in mid-air.

However, the sheer force of the wind caused by the Sky Tyrant's frantic flapping pushed him upward, disrupting his control.

"Shit…"

Feng Shen's cultivation, still at a lower level, made the maneuver far more difficult than it should have been.

And so, despite his best efforts, the feathers sliced through the air with deadly precision, grazing against his robe and tearing through the fabric.

"Fuck me…"

Feng Shen wanted to use Dragon's Roar.

However, as he had drawn on his Qi, he realized there wasn't enough within him at the moment to fuel the attack to its full potential.

If Feng Shen unleashed it now, it would barely faze the Sky Tyrant.

The last thing he needed was to waste precious energy on an ineffective strike.

Regaining his balance in mid-air, Feng Shen's eyes locked onto the Sky Tyrant, which was preparing to attack again.

Despite knowing this, he also knew that he would be faster.

So, with a burst of speed, like a bolt of lightning streaking through the sky, Feng Shen shot downward.

In the blink of an eye, he landed squarely on the Sky Tyrant's massive, silver belly, his feet barely touching the surface, before he gripped the creature's feathers with his bare hands.

Feng Shen had barely dodged the savage kicks of the monster, narrowly avoiding the sharp talons that had lashed out with deadly intent.

The force of his landing sent a shudder through his entire body, but he held on tightly.

"Alrighty, time to die, you stupid bird!"

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

With a swift motion, Feng Shen yanked an arrow from his flesh. His grip tightened around the shaft as he drove the tip downward, aiming for the Sky Tyrant's weak spot—the soft, unprotected area beneath its belly.

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

The creature let out an enraged screech as the arrow punctured its vulnerable underbelly, blood oozing from the wound.

Feng Shen twisted the arrow deeper, using every ounce of strength to pierce through the Sky Tyrant's defenses.

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

The Sky Tyrant, feeling the sharp sting of pain, managed to maintain its composure, despite the screeching roars it kept letting out.

"ki-ki-ki-ki-kee!!!"

The Sky Tyrant's massive body twisted, trying to shake off the pest clinging to its belly.

With a powerful flap of its wings, it shot upward into the sky, soaring higher in an attempt to throw the pest off.

The wind around both of them howled as the Sky Tyrant ascended, its movements becoming more erratic.

"Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!" Feng Shen voiced with madness as he stabbed relentlessly.

Each thrust of the arrow dug deeper into the Sky Tyrant's belly, but the creature's thrashing made his position increasingly precarious.

Feng Shen's grip faltered with each violent shake, the sharp feathers raking against his hands, threatening to tear him free.

He could feel himself slipping, the tightness in his hold beginning to loosen as the monster's feathers came loose.

"I'm getting this core, whether you like it or not, you overgrown chicken!"
