Vol. 12 - Chapter 696 - Grand Battle against Soul Beast Nestirad (4)

Affirming Luck debuff had stacked on Nestirad at last, Allen's expression burst into one of delight.

(Woohooo! And it's just the debuff I most wanted too!! I know you have it, Luck! Well, I raised you after all, so of course, ahaha!!)

«Alright, the debuffs is casted! Luke, keep stacking Hex Strike!!»

"Huh, one more time?"@@novelbin@@

«Yeah. I mean, it should be easier to keep stacking them now that you've pierced that resistance. Anyway, get ready to throw some punches, Merle, Haku and Magla! The victory is just within our sight!!»

Allen's command immediately transmitted to everyone in the battlefield with Summon Bird F.

"Roger. Digragni On!!"

«Heehee! So it's finally my turn»

Merle promptly nodded as he operated Tamtam from inside, and it was followed by an excited affirmation from Dungeon Master Digragni.

Responding to Merle's voice, Digragni appeared from the magic formation hanging above the sky. Digragni, after transforming and splitting into parts, covered TamTam's body.

«I will fight too!!»

«Sheesh, being a summoned beast is not an easy job I say...»

Haku projected a frolicking expression when it finally got the chance to enter combat, while the summoned beast S-rank Dragon Magla heaved a sigh.

(Well, for now, waste not even a second. We don't know how long the first debuff would last after all.)

Luck continued to work on his attempt to stack debuff, and within five minutes of first successful debuff, the skill «Hex Strike» proc’d once again, and the second skeleton latched itself onto the back of Nestirad.

«Oryaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!»

"Pest, pest! Annoying!!»

(Hehehe, victory is now ours now that Luck's debuffs are back on talk!)

Nestirad tried to reach out its hand toward the skeleton on back, taking large swings with the shoulders, and shrugging or dropping, but the skeletons had no corporeal form to be affected by physical actions.

"Alright, it's time for an all-out attack, everyone. Luck, focus on lower endurance debuffs after activating divine skill! Haku, Magla. Blast Nestirad with your breath attack from front and back. Start as soon as you can, meanwhile everyone, saving Dogora, is to form a siege around Nestirad, saving Dogora!!"

Now that the second Hex Strike had been proc'd, the condition for their next stage of tactic had unlocked.

"I'm starting then!! Divine Technique - Ultimate Spirit Master! Spirit God's Barrier! The Taiji Diagram!!"

Luck followed with his set of instructions, while Haku spread its wings and approached Nestirad from sky to not disturb midguard and rearguard formation.

Flame started to converge on its mouth, and soon, it launched its flame breath.

«Gggrrrraahhh!!»

The flame breath traced the path from behind Luck.

"Whoa there! You nearly made a toast of me!!"

After closing the distance, Haku unhesitatingly showered Nestirad with its own technique «Oblivion Flame».

Shea and Kure made a timely slide from Nestirad's flank and escaped behind it. Meanwhile, Ignomas grabbed Luck—he was still working to keep debuffs stacked—and used himself as a shield to protect Luck and belatedly, but managed to slip behind Nestirad.

In contrast to Magla, the attack was left to Haku's discretion. After all, reality wasn't a game world where attack would ignore comrades. So an opening had to be made for range attacks such as breath. Since that's where the bulk of the damage came from to make a difference.

In the end, vanguards either had to escape or endure through the attack.

"Grrrahhh!!"

Hence Ignomas pulled Luck by his collar and used himself as a shield.

"Are you alright?!"

"Just focus on using your debuffs! I can't believe even the breath isn't affecting it..."

Maybe because he was beat late in defending himself, Ignomas still ended up taking some damage, even as he had covered himself with the divine technique «Drifting Water».

However the damage was nothing compared to the surprise he was feeling. Beyond his sight, Nestirad was still standing unfazed, just staring at Haku in the sky.

«You damn ant...»

Nestirad grumbled in annoyance at the two-sided breath attack from his out of range, and started to channel his spiritual aura into his right arm. Then it takes a step forward and hammer down on Dogora who had still been unleashing an onslaught of his moves while nullifying the breath with flame attack absorption.

Merle had been eyeing the situation from inside of TamTam and immediately moved into action.

"Alright, it's finally my time! Let's go, TamTam!!"

«On it! Knockback Shot!!»

Missiles shot out from the canon and struck at the swinging right hand, exploding at the contact.

«Rrrgghh!?»

(Huh, it didn't get knock-back, but anyway, it atleast has an opening!!)

The knock-back shots were capable of dealing some decent damage, and had the effect of blowing the opponent away. Against a strong opponent, they should've managed to knock them back to some extent. Simultaneously, the attack also disrupted any ongoing attack.

It had a great utility to create an opening in the opponent by immobilising or leaving them defenseless after knocking back. Nestirad wasn't knocked back, but the skill, backed by 100,000 stats, had at least disrupted Nestirad's attack.

And the vanguard was just waiting for this moment as they lunged at it.

"Haaa!! You aren't going to get to others as long as there's at least me! Ultimate Breath!!"

Meanwhile, midguard and rearguard formed their own group and closed some gap between them and Nestirad. Soon, a huge formation had settled in front of Nestirad. For the vanguard, there was too much crowd, but they couldn't  also skip around to behind its back since then, the rest would be lacking defenders.

«Do not hang up on targeting Nestirad much, else you become the next person to be blown off. As soon as you're done with your attack, promptly open a distance and fell behind.

Merle warned to make sure they don't lose themselves in the moment. Nestirad's strength varies from when it was 1 meter to 5 metres. Even the vanguard would be in a world of plain if they were careless.

"I knoowww!!"

«Follow with the plan, Merle, Formar. Set your target to Nestirad's head!!»

The main task was to not push away the front crowd by using any area spell, so the focus was on single target skill as much as possible.

"Time to shine, TamTam! Radiance Shot!!"

«Radiance Shot»!

With their position stationed on the backside of the rearguard, Merle piloted TamTam and launched a barrage of light bullets from shoulder's artillery.

As soon as the turret lights up, the light bullet shoots at an incredible speed and explodes on Nesitilado's head.

"True Smite!! Hmph!!"

While in sync with Radiance Shot, he also activated «Infinite Quiver», conjuring arrows comparable to S-rank might and targeting the eyes of Nestirad by them.

Formar, not to be outdone, also shoots an arrow at Nestirad's forehead.

However, the bullets from special skill «Radiance Shot» pops off as soon as they collide against the forehead. The same fate befell on the arrows as either of them snapped without even leaving scratches.

"Tsk, I still can't get through with any attack—woah, what? This, is it me or... hey, my attacks started to work!!"

(Hmm? Ah, stats have slightly increased!!)

The changes were instantly felt by Dogora as he keenly perceived the sharpness of Kagutsuchi.

Allen promptly confirmed this from Grimoire and noticed everyone's status had increased by 2000 at least. Within a heartbeat, he thought of a divine skill called the Taiji Diagram that turns a part of opponent status into oneself. For the duration it was active, everyone inside the range would have their status increased.

The divine skill Spirit God's Barrier worked the same way.

"Great, both divine skills are starting to take effect!!"

«I will try from behind!! Extreme Flame Strike!!

Magla turn to his good ol' skill that he had relied on before becoming the summoned beast.

«Keep the onslaught, everyone!! Vanguard back to the front!!»

Allen transmitted his order through Bird F.

«Aaaargh!!»

As the roar of Nestirad fall into their ears, the party had finally started to see the glimpse of victory.

The two skills—Spirit God's Barrier and Taijitu Diagram—of Luck continued to shave off Nestirad's status, while he also hailed down his debuff skills from a distance.

The changes had eventually started to appear visibly. Unlike before, Shea could leave the imprint of her fist, while Kurena's broadsword managed to put more than just scratches too.

Haku, Magla, and vanguards who were waiting for this moment poured their breath or strikes to their heart's content.

Nestirad's endurance was nothing to scoff either, since it had grown to an absurd degree, and some attacks missed or were nullified, but the damage was slowly accumulating.

Merle had already casted the buff short skill activation, and quick skill activation, and moved to the next phase of his attack.

(Great going! Even a scratch when repeatedly attacked can open the cinch in armor. Keep reducing its endurance!!)

«You shitty brats think too highly of yourselves!!»

Nestirad shouted in a low voice as he weathered the shower of spell and skills.

Not every word of Nestirad were comprehensible, and while team also didn't know what exactly its behavioural pattern was, they could see it was thinking something up, and was clearly aware Luck was the cornerstone of this strategy.

A beat later, it took a large swing with its left hand.

(Huh? Why left hand?)

An odd sensation coursed through Allen when he saw Nestirad's movement. By now they were clear the right hand was its primary weapon, while the left hand was used to defend, or for buff and debuffs.

Though of course, even the strike from left hand was enough to kick the bucket for Luck who barely had any endurance or resistance. Ignomas, the guard pre-discussed for Luck, cautiously eyed the movement of Nestirad as he stood behind him

Meanwhile, the other continued to attack from and back.

«You aren't attacking under my watch! Infernal Stab!!»

The three arms of Luvank hailed a barrage of fists on Nestirad.

Albeit, it appeared Nestirad had a plan of its own.

«Absorption Explosive Punch!!»

«Aaargh?!»

"I won’t let you! Hell Stab!!"

Using three arms, the attack came at full force.

However, it seemed that Nesitilado had been waiting for this moment.

"Suction Explosion Fist!!"

"Gah!?"

Nestirad' first moved in a blinding speed, with endless phantoms of  hand covering the sight as it fall upon Luvank.

For Luvank, even a single strike was enough to kick him out fatally.

The phantoms of left hand disappeared, leaving behind only the shining bubbles, and Nestirad absorbed them all.

*Crunch-Crunch*

In a blink, Nestirad was back to full health.

Seeing as their painstaking effort vanished into puff, the morale of Allen's comrade tank a fatal attack.

They didn't know for how long Luck's debuff would last, but that barely matters when it had clearly healed itself from all the damage.

Of course, Nestirad didn't miss this momentary gap born out of despair.

«You're next, blasted. Absorption Explosive Fist!!»

"Wait, wait, whaaaaaat the heeelll?!"

Nestirad had set its target  on Dogora and bolted toward him.

T/N - *The last two chapters were meant to be count in last week's update. This one's Tuesday update.

Also, will be adjusting the details in all the chapters soon. I didn't notice, but it appear this series has seen multiple translators, so the glossary and updated chapters didn't exactly match, and that's why some discrepancy arises (like spirit paradise vs spirit garden). I will replace with whatever is the latest.

The Novel will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
