Chapter 379: 【379】It’s not just a merit, it’s a great merit!_1

It was apparent that this Ma Wo was a practiced fighter.

His sword came down swift, accurate, and ruthless, distinctly showcasing his stability and grounding.

Had he faced a typical officer from the Public Affairs Hall, they might have been at a loss on how to handle him for quite some time.

But who did he have the misfortune of encountering today if not Tang Feng? @@novelbin@@

In Tang Feng’s eyes, this fierce move was riddled with flaws.

With just a sidestep, he easily dodged the thrust.

Before Ma Wo could even retract his move, Tang Feng had already swiftly reached out with both hands.

The next second, that rusty iron sword was in his possession.

A surge of shock flooded Ma Wo’s heart. Though only one move had been exchanged, he had already realized the young man’s extraordinary strength, far beyond his own capacity to deal with.

Damn, when did the Public Affairs Hall get such a tough character?

He cursed under his breath and turned to continue his escape.

But before he could take a step, the rusty sword was already resting on his neck.

“Take one more step, and your head will hit the ground,” Tang Feng’s voice floated over, lacking any overt malice but still chilling to the core.

Though the rust-covered iron sword might not sever the head, stabbing through to make a transparent hole would be no issue.

Ma Wo immediately turned around with a smile plastered across his face, “Brother, we all have tough lives outside. Give me a way to survive, will you? You can have all this money.”

Without waiting for a response, he tossed his bag towards Tang Feng’s feet with crisp efficiency.

“This money is too dirty for my liking,” Tang Feng said without even glancing at the bag, still smiling at Ma Wo.

Ma Wo gritted his teeth, “Brother, then give me your account number. Just let me off, and I’ll transfer you two million. Ma Wo is a man of face, I always keep my word.”

“A man of face who turns to thievery? That’s quite the faceless remark,” Tang Feng said.

Tired of the talk, he immediately restrained Ma Wo’s arms and signalled Xu Xinling to pick up the bag.

This was evidence after all, and it had to be brought back as well.

At this moment, the man who had his money stolen also caught up.

“You bastard, you dared to steal my money?” The man grabbed the battered bag and began pummeling Ma Wo with it.

Luckily, since the bag was already empty, it caused no harm to Ma Wo.

“Alright, alright, enough beating. We still have to take him in,” Tang Feng stopped the man from continuing, seeing that he hadn’t gotten out his anger yet.

“What about my money? Can I have it back now?” The man asked, somewhat anxiously.

“Not yet, as the money is part of the loot. You might as well come with us. Once we’ve cleared up the questioning, you can have it back.”

“Fine.”

The man nodded in agreement and followed Tang Feng and Xu Xinling outside.

“Great…”

Suddenly, applause and cheers erupted from the crowd.

Everyone was applauding and cheering for the heroic act of righteousness Tang Feng and his companion had shown.

Tang Feng and Xu Xinling were treated like heroes, walking through the crowd under everyone’s watchful eyes.

The four quickly reached the south gate of the convention center where Lu Keke and Yang Dongxu were waiting.

Seeing Tang Feng actually returning with a suspect, Yang Dongxu’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Though the details were complicated, the entire process from Tang Feng’s departure to his return had taken less than five minutes.

The cigarette Yang Dongxu had lit wasn’t even finished yet, “You’ve really caught a thief? That was too fast, wasn’t it?”

Lu Keke was also surprised.

That Tang Feng could catch a thief wasn’t surprising to her.

What did surprise her was how incredibly fast it was. Less than five minutes and he had actually caught a thief.

Not even a pig could be caught that quickly, right?

But she quickly came to terms with it, figuring he must have been lucky to chance upon a small-time crook committing a crime.

Yet as Tang Feng and the others drew closer, Yang Dongxu’s expression grew serious, “This… is this Ma Wo?”

Seeing his reaction, Lu Keke grew curious, “You know this person?”

Yang Dongxu couldn’t hide his astonishment, “Of course, I know him. He’s a career criminal we’ve been trying to arrest for almost two years. His bounty has reached two hundred thousand, and we’ve never managed to catch him. To think he was finally nabbed by a concerned citizen.”

Lu Keke’s mouth dropped open in shock.

She had initially thought Tang Feng had merely nabbed some petty thief to wrap things up.

She never imagined that this thief could be so significant.

She knew very well what a two hundred thousand bounty signified: that the thief’s crimes involved a huge sum of money and had caused severe consequences.

Catching such a criminal was a greater merit than capturing ten small-time thieves.

“So, he’s actually made a significant contribution this time?”

“It’s not just a contribution, it’s a major one! Ma Wo has stolen a huge amount, and he’ll likely be sentenced to more than fifteen years. If someone from our Public Affairs Hall had caught him, it would have been at least a third-class merit. I never thought the person you recommended would be so reliable.”

Yang Dongxu was internally shaken.

Honestly, he hadn’t been impressed with Tang Feng at first and had only grudgingly agreed because of Lu Keke, without any hopes.

Who could have anticipated that this guy, who he had thoroughly dismissed, would bring him such a surprise?

As the two conversed, Tang Feng had already brought Ma Wo close.

“How about it, Mr. Yang? Is this the man you’re looking for?” Tang Feng asked, an inscrutable smile on his face as he looked at Yang Dongxu.

Faced with Tang Feng’s smile, Yang Dongxu suddenly felt his face burn.

“Ahem, I take back what I said before. You… indeed have some skill,” he said.

That was his temperament: if you lacked ability, no matter who you were connected to, he wouldn’t be the least bit courteous.

But if you truly had talent, even if you were an unknown nobody, he would hold you in high regard.

Tang Feng was about to make a few sarcastic remarks, but seeing his candid manner, he held back.

Yang Dongxu then turned to Ma Wo, his expression darkening instantly, “Ma Wo, do you recognize me?”

Ma Wo pulled a grimace that looked uglier than crying, “Mr. Yang, long time no see.”
